C10 Unlike the Others

She felt a bit disappointed, her enthusiasm waning as she sighed and turned away. "Not even a scratch," she thought. "No wonder he's like a legend, healing so quickly." Even though there was no evidence to prove she did it, she still felt a bit unsatisfied. Who knew how long her pressure point technique would hold him? Making a quick exit seemed like the smart move.

Qingchen's eyes flickered as she carefully closed the door behind her, then calmly headed toward the mountain gate. Inside, Divine Sovereign Fengming opened his eyes, their cool gaze softened by a hint of amusement. He straightened up, lifting his pinky to get a better look. The finger had healed flawlessly, but suddenly a faint red glow flashed across it. The glow took the shape of a fox, and for a moment, a three-tailed fox cat appeared, smiling brightly.

"Hmm, if that little fox knew she accidentally signed a master-servant contract with me, would she be mad enough to hit the wall?" he mused. Still, he hadn't expected her to be so vengeful, sneaking over in the middle of the night to nibble on him. He couldn't remember how long he'd been alive; very few things caught his interest anymore. But he did enjoy watching her get all riled up, so that's why...

Hmm, it seems this little fox is clearly upset. The Divine Sovereign Fengming's eyes flickered with insight. This girl is quite the clever fox herself, likely imagining all sorts of things about me. She's unique and independent—I'm curious if he'd find her intriguing or if he'd be embarrassed and angry if he saw her.

Things are getting more interesting. She's certainly cautious, asking me plenty of questions about the fox cat, both directly and indirectly. Although I provided detailed answers, I only shared half the story. For instance, why does the fox cat face divine retribution a thousand years after its birth?

Simply being a hybrid and falling into dark paths isn't a sufficient explanation. Yet, this girl doesn't question it because she doesn't understand. The truth is, while this new species is recorded in the celestial book, it also possesses a unique trait: it combines the qualities of two animals. Once it matures, its power is extraordinary. Take, for example, the fox cat that fell into dark paths years ago. It lost control of its cultivation, causing chaos in the heavens despite losing a third of its power.

That's why people are generally wary of this creature. Almost every fox cat faces divine retribution at the thousand-year mark. If their intentions aren't pure and their power isn't strong enough, they're likely to be struck down by heavenly lightning, leaving nothing behind.

Having survived in this world for so many years, I've only encountered four Fox Cats, and only two are still alive. One is the young girl I met today, and the other is my good friend. That person is incredibly skilled, almost on par with me.

Hmm, the young girl is quite good at acting, though she still lacks some common sense. For instance, while the Fox Cat combines the traits of two species, it also inherits their weaknesses—fear of water and fire. Yet, this young girl claimed she would help me grill fish...

She handles both water and fire with ease, diving into the water without hesitation and grilling fish like a pro, almost as if it's not her first time. She doesn't even know that Fox Cats love fish, especially when it's grilled... Hmm, my friend never goes near fire.
