C18 Deliberate

Feng Qingchen tilted her head, looking at Hee Yingyun, her eyes filled with a hint of confusion. "Ying'er... is that me?"

Hee Yingyun was taken aback and instinctively glanced at the old priest.

The old priest sighed. "When I rescued her, she was already like this. It's understandable, though. A young woman from a noble family witnessing such a bloody scene would naturally be frightened. She doesn't remember the past now, only occasionally recalling a fragment or two. You'll need to tell her about the past, General."

Yingyun's eyes darkened. "Of course, thank you, Priest."

"Then I'll take my leave," the old priest said, standing up.

"Why not stay for a meal? Let me repay your kindness," Yingyun quickly suggested.

"No, I have other matters to attend to," the old priest replied, hastily making his exit, almost as if fleeing.

Yingyun was momentarily stunned, and in that brief moment, the old priest had already slipped out the door.

"Ying'er, do you remember anything?" Yingyun turned to his young daughter, forcing a smile.

Feng Qingchen furrowed her brow and shook her head. "I can't remember. But that old priest told me some things about this household on the way... Where's my mother?"

The woman everyone referred to as Lady Yu—what is she like now?

Her gaze shifted behind the curtain in the hall, a smile playing on her lips. "The one hiding over there, perhaps you'd like to come out and meet?"

The voice was sharp and direct, leaving no room for pleasantries. What did they mean by hiding...

Behind the curtain, a graceful silhouette appeared, but I couldn't tell if it was my sister or the woman who was my mother in name only. Since I had already decided to help Yanlan seek revenge, I naturally assumed her identity. Before my original form could take on a human shape, this identity was my way of navigating the continent. And how could I allow anyone to bully me?

"Master, I was just so overjoyed, I couldn't believe it and hid here to watch. Please don't blame me," a woman in a lavish purple dress stepped out. She was adorned with numerous accessories, her hair full of jewels, appearing to be around thirty, well-maintained, and still quite charming. In modern terms, she was a woman of many charms. Despite maintaining an outward dignity, there was an inherent allure about her. I was curious about where this Mrs. Yuh had grown up.

Now, she was the only one left in the household, and she had become the lady of the house, enjoying unmatched prestige. There wasn't another woman who could compare to her, as she was the only one remaining. Mrs. Yuh first paid her respects to Yingyun and then calmly explained why she had been hiding.

"Yes, Meiniang, come quickly and see, our daughter has returned," Yingyun said with a gentle smile, gesturing towards Feng Qingchen.

Mei Niang is Mrs. Yuh's name, something Feng Qingchen just learned. However, Hee Yingyun likely isn't too thrilled about his youngest daughter's arrival. After all, he never really valued her much. As for Mrs. Yuh, she'd probably be glad to see her gone. The excuses she just made were unbelievable, and it's clear she's planning to push her out. Her intentions are crystal clear, and staying alive doesn't benefit her at all. The old priest mentioned that fragments occasionally flash through her mind, and that's all part of Mrs. Yuh's plan.
