C2 She Still Couldn't Escape the Fate of Being Saved

Feng Qingchen twitched her lips, thinking that beasts were far more endearing than humans, without all the scheming. If it came down to it, she'd fight with all she had!

A fierce determination flashed in her eyes. "No need for your rescue. I'll handle this myself." With that, she prepared to extend her small paw to grab the beast.

The legacy had one phrase practically written in blood: Beware of humans! She knew her current form couldn't compare to when she was human, so she chose to battle these beasts instead.

A flash of white light blinded her momentarily, and a cold fragrance enveloped her. "Sigh, little cat, you seem to misunderstand my intentions. I said you have no choice," a man's cool, commanding voice echoed again.

Feng Qingchen clenched her paw, realizing she couldn't escape being saved. But if that was the case, why was she given a choice in the first place?

"Your determination to seize the treasure is admirable, but there are hundreds of beasts here. If you toss me aside, you might still survive," she said, hearing a sharp bird call nearby. Looking up, she saw the leader of the forest beasts—a bird with fiery red feathers. It was strikingly beautiful, but its talon-like claws proved it was not to be trifled with.

In the sky, it was its battlefield. With a loud cry, it dove down, its target precisely what he held... her.

Even the beasts on the ground surrounded the tree one by one.

With just a flick of his sleeve, she found herself landing on something incredibly soft, so cushiony it felt unreal.

Looking up, she could still see the battle unfolding.

This man was too dangerous; from the spirit beast's instinctive awareness, she didn't like him. She'd rather fight alone than follow him.

His eyes, cold as ice, flashed as he formed a gesture with his fingers. A small cloud of white mist took shape, drifting towards the bird.

The mist was only the size of a hand, and the bird, showing disdain, charged directly at it without hesitation.

The mist wrapped around the bird tightly, and soon a rain of blood and fragments fell from the sky.

Before long, only the skeleton remained.

With a thud, it hit the ground, and the surrounding beasts fled in terror, each one faster than the last.

This tactic of killing the bird to scare the beasts worked well, though it was a bit brutal.

Feng Qingchen's eyes flickered with the thought of escape, but before she could act, everything blurred, and she found herself back in his grasp.

"Don't worry, I'm not one to act recklessly," he said with a smile, then swiftly flew away into the distance.

"I didn't ask you to save me; you insisted on doing it," Qingchen said, her lips tight, her voice a bit stiff.

"Okay," the man replied good-naturedly, even ruffling her hair.

"I'm still young, I can't be eaten," Qingchen said through gritted teeth.

"I don't eat kittens, don't worry," the man replied with a glance, speaking elegantly.

It seemed he was slightly dismissive.

Qingchen's body tensed. Did that mean he might eat her when she grew up?

"Then, can you let me down? We can go our separate ways," Qingchen suggested cautiously, looking up at him.

This man was incredibly powerful; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to take down that bird with a single move.

As someone who valued her life, she knew when to play it safe.

The man gave her a cool glance, his tone still gentle but devoid of emotion. "Do you think I'd come all the way to the Spirit Beast Forest and leave empty-handed?"

"What do you want then?" she asked, hoping he wasn't serious about eating her.
