C6 Two Choices

"Divine Sovereign, how is it?" Qingchen asked with a cheerful smile.

Though grilling with this small body was a bit challenging, she was naturally clever. After getting the hang of it, she found controlling the seasoning even easier than in her past life. So, she was quite confident.

"Not bad," Divine Sovereign Fengming replied, tossing aside the fish bones. A soft white glow emanated from his hands, instantly cleaning away any lingering seasoning.

"Another one, please."

Qingchen handed over another freshly grilled fish.

In total, six fish disappeared into Divine Sovereign Fengming's stomach.

"Well then, thank you for saving my life, Divine Sovereign. I will never forget your kindness. It's time for me to take my leave. If fate allows, we shall meet again," Qingchen recited lines she had rehearsed countless times in her mind.

"If fate allows, we shall meet again..." Divine Sovereign Fengming repeated, raising an eyebrow and smiling freely. "Hmm, I feel our connection runs deep. Perhaps there's no need to part ways."

What did he mean by that? Was he going back on his word?

Qingchen smiled lightly. "You're quite the jokester, Divine Sovereign. You mentioned earlier that if I grilled the fish well, it would repay your life-saving grace. Now that you've finished all six fish, I assume you're quite satisfied with my cooking..."

She thought for a moment and then offered him a way out: "If the fish isn't enough, I can grill a few more."

"It's not enough, but that's not the issue right now," Divine Sovereign Fengming replied calmly.

"What do you mean by that?" Feng Qingchen gritted her teeth. Did he expect her to be his personal chef, grilling fish whenever he wanted? Dream on!

"Well, I didn't expect your cooking to be so delicious. It's rare to find something that leaves a lasting impression," Divine Sovereign Fengming said with a gentle, slightly helpless tone.

Feng Qingchen clenched her fists. If it were anyone else, she'd probably compliment them for having good taste. But now...

"So, what is it? Are you, with your esteemed status, going to break your word and keep me here?" Feng Qingchen scoffed.

Divine Sovereign Fengming glanced at her and continued, "The cooks in my palace can't compare to you. So, how about I hire you as my chef?"

"Not interested."

"Well, you're not just an ordinary being. You're a spirit born of nature's essence. Do you really think you can survive freely outside this forest with your current abilities? Or do you believe you can safely make it through the night here?" Divine Sovereign Fengming said softly.

Is this... a threat?

"Hah, whatever it is, there's no need for you to worry about it..." Feng Qingchen, feeling indebted for having his life saved, spoke with newfound confidence. After all, this Divine Sovereign, despite his dangerous aura, seemed quite reasonable. Unlike monsters, deities are generally known for their great compassion.

"Hmm, I'll give you two choices," the Divine Sovereign Fengming said, standing up and brushing off imaginary dust from his robe with a casual air, as if discussing the weather. "One, come with me, and I'll give you a divine pill to help you gain 500 years of power and transform into human form. Or two, stay here and be eaten by wolves, helping them reach their own enlightenment."

As soon as he finished speaking, a wolf's howl echoed around them. Perfectly timed, a wolf leapt out, followed by another, then a third... soon, a whole pack appeared.
