My heart skipped a beat and my scalp felt like it was about to explode. A wave of cold air rushed straight to my head.

I turned my head stiffly and saw nothing but the dark corridor.

When I looked back again, the little girl was still staring at me and smiling, and kept waving, as if greeting someone I couldn't see.
