C4 BEING KIND

ROSE'S POV

The warmth of the early morning sun scorched against my skin and I slowly opened my eyes. I sighed deeply and rolled over the bed staring at the ceiling. This previous night has been the worst night ever for me. I had spent nearly the entire night weeping at my plight in life. Handsome and heavenly Christian really did a great job of reminding me that.

Speaking of Christian. He's the second reason I didn't really have a good sleep. I found it really really hard to take the magnificent fellow off my mind. Thoughts of his beautiful face and assuring eyes had me formulating another sort of fantasy in my head about him almost through the night. I found it hard to sleep till 4am in the morning when I couldn't hold it any longer.

I sighed and stretched my neck. Well. It's a new day. And Christian is definitely out of my life. I have to focus on the future and what will be waiting for me by the time I get to physics class this morning. The thought of that had me groaning. I tried to force myself not to ask why I had to be born by such overbearing parents. It felt……well. I guess it's better to brush the thought aside. I don't want another round of early morning weeping.

I blew out a deep breath and looked around me. I picked up my phone to see about thirty missed calls from Brittany. What the……. How the…….

Was she under an emergency? I immediately dialed her number and she picked up Immediately.

“Hello Rose. Are you okay? Where the hell are you? Did you get to your hostel safely?“

I couldn't help but to chuckle. There she goes acting like my mom again. “I'm good, Brittany. Why worry?"

She sighed. " I was looking for you everywhere at the club yesterday. I was I shocked when I didn't see you “

I slapped my palm against my face. That's right. Christian had me in a tulmolt I totally forgot my best friend.

I bit my lip. “I'm Sorry I left you like that Britt."

" Why? You sound like something happened. Did anything happen?“

I chuckled to myself. There is no way in hell I will tell her I had a one on one conversation with Christian Jake. She's so gonna go nuts.

I smiled. “Nothing happened Britt. I was just tired.“

She sighed. " You sure?“

I nodded as though she could see me through the phone. “I'm good. I promise you."

She sighed. “Alright. Don't forget the deal. I must not get to physics class before you.“ She said and ended the call. I chuckled. We both had a routine of racing to the class. Anyone who fails will buy the other's lunch.

Well. I had enough money to do that. But it just felt fun having to rush every morning to class just to beat my best friend to it.

I sighed and dropped my phone rushing to the shower to get prepared.

Minutes later, I found myself walking briskly through the stonewalk that led to the enormous building where my class was located. My books weren't at all arranged properly in my arms so I struggled with them as I sped along. The sun felt a bit hotter than normal today. I was glad I didn't put on much makeup. If not, I would have to deal with it because I sweat a lot. I mean, excessively.

Getting a few steps to the building, someone suddenly called my name sharply and that took me off balance because I wasn't really focusing. I jerked and all my books fell to the floor. Shit.

“Oops. I'm so sorry. It's my fault." The fellow said and bent to help. I looked up to see Mike and sighed.

“It's fine. It's nothing. It's my fault. I wasn't focusing.“

He chuckled and dropped the remaining of my books in my arms. I smiled.

“Thanks."

He chuckled. “That's a lot of books to carry for a class. Mind if I help you?“

I swallowed. Hell no. What would Brittany think if she saw me walking up to our class side by side with her boyfriend? Isshh. I couldn't bear to think about it. “No. Never mind. I'm good. Don't bother." I said. Aside that, Brittany might probably be at the door right now ready to taunt me about being a latecomer.

He examined me. " You sure?“

I nodded briskly. " Yeah. I'm sure. I uhhh…….I have to go. See you some other time."

“Hey wait….." He stopped me and I snorted.

“What?“

He smiled. " I'm sorry. I wanted to give you this." He said and handed me a bottle of tropical fruit smoothie. I glanced at it and looked up at him. What the hell is he up to? The tropical fruit smoothie is actually my favorite drink and well, he obviously knows that because we've dated before. But why is he giving this to me now?

I smiled and beamed at him. “Thanks for the unexpected morning gift but, I'm sorry. I'm late for class.“ I said and turned to go. He held my hand.

I looked at him. What the hell is up with him? “Mike, will you let me go?"

He immediately let go of me. " I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I just……" He rubbed his hair backwards as if frustrated. I squinted my eyes at him trying to read him.

“What's up with you, Mike?" I asked. " Is anything the problem?“

He sighed and rubbed his face. “Nothing

I'm good." He said with a smile. “I completely understand why you can't take this and it's fine

I just felt the need to be…….you know……. kind?“

I lifted an eyebrow staring at him. “Kind? To me?"

He chuckled and scratched his head, obviously nervous. " You know what? Forget it. I have to head to class. I'll see you some other time.“ He said and walked away.

I watched him leave and chuckled softly to myself. What is up with him this morning? I shook my head and turned to my class. Brittany might as well be there waiting to taunt me. I know she will definitely be there before me.

All thanks to her confused boyfriend who decided to take the toll on me this morning. I hurried to class and got to the door to see that she wasn't there. What the..

The door was open anyway meaning someone was there. I walked in and saw Brittany seated at the far end of the class at our usual spot scribbling absentmindedly into a notebook. And she didn't really look pleased.

“Britt." I called her and she looked up at me with a forlorn look.

What the hell happened?
