C4 THE INVESTIGATION

"Where last did you see Betty?". Detective Kunle asks Becky.

"At the river side before I fell into the river". She replied.

"Who else was around during that incident?".

" The white men on duty, they were at the other side of the river".

"No one else was present?".

"No".

"Are you sure?".

"Detective!!. I know my sister is still alive right now but I don't know where she is. By the way, why aren't you suspecting the white men?, What if they are with my sister. ". Becky cries out in pain.

" Calm down princess, I know my job and I promise to find your sister at all cost, trust me". Detective Kunle assures her.

" Why do I feel like you are a betrayer?, I can't trust you ". Becky said.

" I beg your pardon, I am detective Kunle, the most trustworthy officer in the police force, watch your tongue young lady. ". He said getting angry.

" Kill the sister if she suspects anything?, You dare not!!". Becky said and walked out of her room.

Detective Kunle picked up his phone in fear and dialed a number.

Kunle: she knows.

Voice: kill her then

Kunle: (whispers ) The problem now is that, if she saw you boys carrying out the operation, how then did she know I am working for you guys?.

Voice: you africans are witches and wizards. Well, get rid of her before she spills, I am safe you know. They can arrest you and strip you off your position and probably send you to prison.

Kunle: are you threatening me?

Voice: Did you just say threaten?, Should I remind you of your first approach to me and how you were on your knees begging me to give you this job?, (Sighs). Nigeria and their tactics.

The door knob whined . Kunle quickly hid his phone and Runo Walked in.

"Oh sir you are still around ". She exclaimed in surprise.

" I was checking if I could see any clue, I promised Becky to find her sister and I will not rest until I find her." Detective Kunle said holding Runo's hands.

Runo released herself from his grip and pointed at the door. "You better leave, my husband will be back very soon!".

"Hurray, the guy who stole the love of my life from me". Kunle said and walked closer to Runo.

"I am a married woman Kunle with two kids. What happened between us died seventeen years ago. Grow a conscience Kunle". Runo poured out helplessly.

" But you are standing in front of the door or do you want me to stay longer?". Kunle said in a mocking manner.

"Oh!". Runo exclaimed and stepped aside.

Kunle held the door knob, he turned around and asked. " Your whole family will be around tonight right?".

"Yes why not, one of my daughters is missing and..."

" Chillax baby Runo, it is just a question. Goodnight, dream of the wonderful times we spent together". He blew a kiss at her and walked out of the room.

Runo sighed in relief as he left the house.
