C11 A Joke!
"Hey, did anything happen when you went out with Director Gu?" Ann Yuv asked with a teasing smile.
Mo Li's face turned red at the question, and she avoided Ann's gaze, replying, "No way, we're just in a purely business relationship."
Ann knew Mo Li better than anyone. Even though Mo Li had been acting a bit differently lately, their friendship went way back.
"If there's nothing going on, why are you blushing?" Ann pressed.
Mo Li was at a loss for words. "I'm just hot," she mumbled.
Ann wasn't buying it. "Come on, girl, there's central air. How can you be hot?"
"I'm telling you, it's warm. The maintenance team must not be doing their job," Mo Li insisted, sitting down to focus on her contract, hoping Ann would take the hint and leave.
But Ann wasn't about to let it go. She had to get to the bottom of it. "Come on, spill the beans," she coaxed, switching tactics and playfully whining.
Mo Li, now exasperated, broke into a cold sweat. "There's nothing to tell. I don't even like guys like him."
"Then why are you so nervous?" Ann challenged.
"I'm not nervous!" Mo Li retorted, and the two of them ended up in a playful scuffle.
Just then, Gu Feixi called, and Mo Li answered the phone while Ann continued to mess around nearby.
"Stop messing around," Mo Li warned Ann Yuv. On the other end, Gu Feixi thought she was talking to him and replied, "What are you saying?"
Mo Li quickly apologized, "Sorry, I was talking to someone else. Go on."
"Talking to someone else while on the phone with me?" Gu Feixi questioned her.
"Alright, I won't say anything else. I'm all ears," Mo Li assured, dismissing Ann Yuv.
"Have you taken a break yet?" Gu Feixi asked.
Mo Li was taken aback. He called during work hours, and she thought it was something important, but it turned out to be just this.
"No, I went straight to the office," Mo Li replied nonchalantly.
Gu Feixi knew Mo Li would do this, which is why he called to check.
"Go take a break now," Gu Feixi insisted.
"No need, I'll head home early tonight and skip the overtime," Mo Li said.
"Then I'll pick you up after work for dinner and make sure you don't work late," Gu Feixi said before hanging up.
Mo Li really thought Gu Feixi must be out of his mind. She couldn't understand what he was saying at all.
After work, Mo Li indeed saw a Rolls-Royce downstairs. There was no need to guess who it was. Who else could afford it but Gu Feixi? As Mo Li walked towards the Rolls-Royce, a Porsche pulled up in front of her.
Quan Zhennan rolled down the car window and looked at Mo Li. "Get in."
Mo Li shot him a glare, clearly uninterested in engaging, and headed toward the Rolls-Royce.
Frustrated, Quan Zhennan got out of the car and grabbed Mo Li's arm. "Come with me."
"Let go of me," Mo Li struggled.
At that moment, Gu Feixi forcefully pulled Mo Li behind him and stared coldly at Quan Zhennan. "Stay away from Mo Li."
Gu Feixi's gaze was icy, enough to intimidate anyone.
Instinctively, Quan Zhennan took a step back and said, "She's my fiancée."
