C6 Injury!
Mo Li was startled. It seemed the hospital had already done a thorough examination, which meant her adoptive mother knew what had happened to her. As for Mo Yu, well, that was just a fairy tale now.
“It wasn’t assault,” Mo Li tried to cover up, but what could she do? She had already accepted the check.
“Oh, your boyfriend is a real piece of work. I’ve got your prescription ready. You should get the medication quickly, or it could get infected,” the nurse said, her initial seriousness fading. She felt a bit sorry for Mo Li—such a beautiful woman, yet she fell for a jerk. It seemed like the good ones always get taken by the wrong people.
Seeing the medication details on the prescription, Mo Li blushed with embarrassment, but the intense pain she felt left her no room for modesty.
She quickly got up, picked up her medication, and went home to tend to her wounds in private.
By the time the pain subsided, three days had passed.
It was then that Mo Li suddenly received a critical condition notice from the hospital—her adoptive father was in dire straits!
Rushing to the hospital, Mo Li burst into the room and found the attending doctor. She frantically grabbed his coat and demanded, “I paid the money, so why are you giving up on treatment?”
The doctor adjusted his glasses and said, “I haven’t received confirmation that the surgery fees were paid in full, so we can’t proceed with the operation. That’s the policy. We’re not a charity, after all. The patient has missed the best window for treatment. You should prepare for the worst.”
Mo Li insisted, "That's impossible! I clearly gave you two million dollars. How could it not be enough?"
"But we really didn't receive the money!" The doctor replied, a bit annoyed.
Mo Li was alarmed and immediately went to the hospital's finance office to get to the bottom of it. "Turns out Lee Feng took the money!"
Mo Li had just paid the surgery fee when Lee Feng, posing as the patient's wife, managed to reclaim the check, causing Mo Li's foster father to miss the best treatment window.
Trembling, Mo Li dialed Lee Feng's number. Hearing her stepmother's voice, she no longer held back and angrily demanded, "Why did you take that life-saving money? Are you out of your mind?"
Lee Feng, seemingly surprised by Mo Li's outburst, said with a hint of astonishment, "Wow, even the little lamb can get angry. I'm your mom. Isn't it only natural for a mother to use her daughter's money?"
Hearing Lee Feng's shameless response, Mo Li tried to stay calm and said, "Dad needs money for his treatment now. You didn't have to take it all. That's two million dollars! We only needed half a million!"
Unexpectedly, Lee Feng chuckled and said, "Why waste money on someone useless? Even if the old man gets better, he'll need care for the rest of his life, and I don't want to deal with that. I gave all the money to Mo Yu. He's starting a business and needs funds. Consider it your contribution."
"He's your husband, the father of Mo Yu!" Mo Li shouted, her voice strained with disbelief at Lee Feng's coldness.
"Mind your own business! Who do you think you are? You're nothing but a stray we took in!" Lee Feng snapped, slamming the phone down.
Mo Li tried calling her adoptive mother again, but no one answered. Much later, she received a text from Lee Feng: "Mo Li, we sent you to Charming Beauty for this money. Now that you're of no use, I don't mind cutting ties. You're tainted, so don't even think about getting involved with my son. I suggest you go back to where you came from and stop bothering my family!"
