On his way back from the cafeteria, Kent overheard Laura asking if she could pay her bill in instalments, lamenting the amount of debt she had accumulated.

Kent pretended not to hear and approached her desk. "Do you need anything, ma'am?" he asked.

"Oh, please call me Laura," she replied. "You don't have to be so formal."
