C5 BACK TO THE PAST

Tires screeched as the car came to a halt. He shook her a bit to disturb her sleep. Sasha woke up as she rubbed her eyes. She stretched her arms lazily and covered her mouth with the back of her palm to hide her yawn.

The door for her side opened as Alex offered a hand to her but as egoistic as she was, she ignored it and stepped out with the support of the car door. Her leg was still painful and made it hard for her to walk without support. Sensing her pain Alex threw the car keys to the watchman and placed his hand on her shoulder whilst taking her other hand in his grip, helping her to walk. This time she didn't protest because the dizziness, the pain was too much for her to handle all by herself.

They stepped in the elevator and Sasha moved away from his grip, taking support of the elevator walls. She stared at her reflection in the mirror and a gush of emotions welled up in her heart. She couldn't help but fall into the pit of flashback

'Dressed in a Black T-shirt that said Queen and blue shorts, I stood there, rechecking myself and combing my bob-cut hair with my fingers. My face was enlightened with happiness, I winked at the tall guy that peeked in the mirror from behind me. Dressed in the same colored T-shirt that said King he adjusted his spike-cut hair. He looked at me with his notorious smile and ruffled my hair that I just combed. I groaned, stomping my feet as he ran out of the door laughing. Growling my claws like a lion, I warned him before running behind him to kill him. This was me happy and serene me, unlike today, where I was dressed in a pair of baggy jeans and boring tee as dark circles highlighted my sunken eyes, My face was deprived of any color as my cheekbones were more prominent without the chubby cheeks I once had. I froze as those green eyes locked with me in the mirror. I looked up at his stern face. He had also changed. The boy I knew before had became a man now. With light beard covering his jaw to a light weight gain that hid her once well built body, his hair wasn't styled like before instead they were longer and ruffled as if he haven't shaped it since a long time. From his funky dressing sense to his boring and matured style he looked different. His eyes! The eyes that were mischievous and shining before were now blank and deprived of any emotion. I used to read them so easily but now he have locked it, they were dark, blank and stern. But the thing that didn't change is my feelings for him. Though things have been destroyed between us, I hate to admit that I still have that soft spot for him in my heart. The scar near his left eye brow intensified his look. I examined the light bruises around his nose, lips and jaw. Were they because of me?'

She talked to herself until Alex interrupted, "If you have finished checking me out can we go?" If looks had the power to kill, she would have given him a thousand deaths.

They stepped out of the lift and he encircled his hand around Sasha to help her walk without stumbling. He rang the door bell and the same girl that was with him in the club opened the door, her eyes were shining at Alex, but as she noticed the girl leaning on Alex, those sparkling eyes turned darker as her smile faltered. Seeing them so close to each other, made her uncomfortable. She was among those who couldn't even think of witnessing their men talking with other girls. She stepped aside, letting them in. Sasha could literally see her past playing in front of her eyes.

'Hurriedly putting on my feet in these killer heels, I ran after Alex, lagging behind him, but suddenly my leg twisted and I was about to fall. I grabbed Alex's back for support but he also lost his balance and we both fell on the floor with a thud. My back hit the floor, with Alex on top of me. His sculptures face was near mine, I could feel the warmth of his breath, I felt the sparks igniting in my veins as the butterflies were back in the pit of my stomach. The emotions in his eyes were dramatic filled with love and want. The world stopped as he placed his lips on my forehead, "Take care baby doll or else i will fall again." he whispered in a voice full of desire. The skin on my forehead was burning as his lips left the spot. His gaze followed down on my lips, I could feel his breath fanning my lips. Involuntarily my eyes closed as I gave in to his touch. Just when I felt his soft, plum lips brushing mine, just when I thought he would capture my lips, he stood up. '

'After the most amazing long drive of my life, I fell asleep in the car. I opened my eyes at the voice of footsteps. His magical face met my eyes. He had a smile on his face as he walked in the corridor, carrying me in his arms. His jaw was neatly shaved and as always he looked breathtaking. A satisfying smell of sandalwood wafted from him and I couldn't help but snuggle closer to his chest as his warmth comforted me. I closed my eyes again, trying to drown in his loving aura.'

'The smell of lavender and roses wafted through the atmosphere. Darkness enveloped my eyes as he held my palm in his grip. I felt like we were walking in the heaven, as a soft and velvety surface kissed my feet. "Alex, can I remove the blind fold now?" I questioned as we halted midway. "Yes" he whispered, pulling off the blindfold from my eyes. I felt my heart overflowing with love as the petals of rose sprinkled on me. I twirled under the candle light as my maroon colored gown flowed with the air. It felt like I was a princess who had just stepped out of a fantasy book. Everything was magical, everything was surreal."

'I heard Alex laughing as I growled. Snatching my favorite teddy, Alex ran all over the house as I chased him to save my dear Ben. Around the sofa, moving around the dining chairs, in the balcony, in the kitchen and in his bedroom, all I could see was Alex and I running everywhere.'

Sasha was on the verge of crying. The feeling of coming back to this place brought chills down her spine. Everything was overwhelming her weak heart.

He settled Sasha on the sofa, the same old beige colored sofa where they usually ended asleep during movie nights. He went in the kitchen to grab a water bottle and Sasha's medicines. Sasha slumped back on the head rest as her heart yearned for his touch. She could feel him slumping beside her on the sofa with a bowl of caramel popcorns and a can of Coca Cola. She felt the urge to snatch his drink and gulp it all at once, because it annoyed him the most. She opened her eyes to snatch his drink only to find an empty space beside her. Her heart broke as she longed for his presence. Her fingers caressed on a little black stain on the sofa. She smiled at herself when she remembered how it stained.

'I snatched the can of Coca Cola from his hand. Though he had a whole carton of cold drinks in his fridge he was totally annoyed. He hate it when I would snatch his drink and gulp it all at once, and I loved it when he was irritated. He groaned as I took the can towards my mouth, but before I could finish the drink he snatched it from my mouth resulting the drink to splatter all over the place. His white shirt, my pink tee everything was drenched and yes even the sofa. But instead of crying for his prestige sofa, Alex's eyes were wet with tears as he laughed out, rolling on the floor.'

Taking a deep breath, Sasha suppressed the cries and held back the tears. Reminding herself that everything was fake, it was just a beautiful dream that was never meant to be real.

"I told him that we should change the sofa. This stain looks so bad on it,." Daisy said walking towards Sasha, as she caught Sasha witnessing the stain.

"It's okay."

"NO it's not. Look at the house it looks so perfect but these old furniture dims all the beauty." Daisy shook her head. "Alex loves his old things. We renovated the whole place to make it look prestige but Alex didn't let me replace these old furniture. According to him, he have memories attached with these things, memories he don't want to forget. Weirdo."

Sasha couldn't understand why he wants to preserve those memories whereas she want nothing more than to forget them. In an attempt to divert her mind, she took in her surroundings. Sasha's eyes scanned all around the room and noticed the changes in the interior. Previously, this place was no more than a boring two bedroom hall kitchen apartment but now everything seems royal. Though everything was an accent of red and gold, almost everything in this room, from the wall to the furniture and even the table where Sasha and Alex usually had their breakfast was beige in color.

'I placed two bowls on the table, with a jug of milk. As usual Alex sat on the chair beside me, eyeing me with a smirk playing on his lips. This man is insane.

"What?" I questioned him with crimson cheeks. That jerk cocked a brow as his smirk grew wider, "I like to see you set the table for me."

I could feel a sudden spark ignited all over my body. I felt panicked. Usually I am not an insecure person but I feels hyper-ventilated when this man observe me. Oh man! It had been 3 years since we are friends, but his presence still make me feel insecure. Instead of subsiding with time, it just grew intense. When will I get used to him. Ignoring his eyes glued on me, I started making Nutella & peanut butter sandwiches. Usually we have one sandwich, a bowl of cereal and milk and a cup of black coffee. I know it's too much but come on, isn't the breakfast life of the day? And after all we most of the days skip our lunch.

But sometimes I get a treat, sometimes Alex is in the kitchen and I get a chance to savor his mouth-watering pancakes. Alex can cook a lot of things, unlike me who cannot even switch the flame on without burning. Once I thought of preparing instant noodles for him but ended up burning my hand. poor me, I cannot even cut vegetables without chopping my finger.

After preparing the sandwiches I flipped our favorite Kellog's Marsh Fruit Loops, but it was almost empty. It just filled half of the bowl. These colorful treats are the heart of our breakfast. I debated for a second before grabbing the half- filled bowl and smirking at Alex, "You don't need them right? You will have two sandwiches instead of cereals today, won't you?" He scrutinized his eyes at me, before grabbing the bowl. My mouth remained open as he placed a piece of bread in my hand.

"This one's mine, squirrel."

My face frowned before I tried snatching the bowl from him, but he held it tighter, we did a tug of war with it, until the cereal flew in the air and fell on our head. He hold his stomach, laughing loudly at me. Glaring him with my furious eyes, I turned the sugar jar on his head. I knew the war was started because he was fuming. I ran across the dining table as he chased me with a glass of milk.'

She shook the memories out of her mind as she scanned the room further.
