C6 Surprises

(6:15pm)

Raina's POV

My mum, sister and I was seated for dinner but my concentration was on my phone.

Chris couldn't stop cracking me up while my mum and sister ate quietly.

"Raina dear" Mum said.

I raised my head to look at her as both of them stared me curiously.

"How was your first day?" She asked.

"Well" I dropped the phone.

"It was great, made new friends"

"Girls or guys?" Mum continued to ask.

Riley scoffed.

"Of course it's guys can't you see the way she smiles while texting?" Riley said as a matter of fact.

I rolled my eyes at her response and I started eating.

"Riley I wasn't talking to you, simply finish up your food" Mum scolded.

"Mum I made friends of both genders" I said bluntly.

"That's lovely, but there is something both of you need to know as you adapt into this environment and as you meet new people" She dropped her spoon and looked at us seriously.

"You girls need to be careful with the kind of friends you keep, especially boys"

"I knew you'll start another round of lectures" Riley grumbled.

"And what is wrong with boys?" I asked.

My phone started buzzing as tons of messages keeps popping in.

I quickly grabbed it and swiped it upward.

"Don't text anyone until am done" Mum warned sternly.

"Fine" I dropped my phone back on the table.

"Okay now both of you listen attentively"

For over thirty minutes Riley and I listened to mum's lecture.

She made me understand that 90% of Nigeria teenage boys try to impress girls either with their money or with their looks.

Most of their intentions is to have sex with a girl and dump her.

Richard's POV

I was in my room rehearsing with Nydia when Chris walked in.

"Hey guys, sorry I'm late" he said.

We ignored him.

"So I'll start first then you back me up" Nydia said.

"Wait I thought we agreed I take the lead?" I asked.

"No we didn't, I sing better so I'm supposed to be the main lead" she said.

I laughed obviously amused.

"You sing better? Who dash monkey banana" I said in pidgin.

"Guys what's up" Chris said half yelling.

From his tone he's getting annoyed.

"Stop calling me a monkey, you know I sing better, I made us win the last competition remember" Nydia grimaced.

I scoffed "That's a joke right? You did nothing, okay?"

"Guyyysss" Chris screamed this time stepping in between us.

"WHAT?" We both yelled as we turned to face him.

He stared at us for a second.

"Did I do something wrong? He sighed

"I can see I'm not welcomed here" He concluded and stormed out of the room.

"Chris wait" Nydia called out running after him.

I exhaled deeply and fell back on the bed.

I think I was kinda annoyed that Chris got the girl I wanted before I even made a move.

After a while

The door suddenly opened as Nydia amd Chris walked in.

I sat up hastily.

"Hey man sorry about that" I said apologetically.

"Nah I'm the one that's supposed to apologize, I'm sorry for leaving you guys behind" he said.

We pulled into a hug.

"Can we start now?" Nydia said picking up her guitar.

Raina's POV

After almost an hour of counseling from my mum, I went back up to my room with Cookies behind me.

I slammed the door shut and dive into my little paradise.

I was on my way to the bathroom when a popular song my sister dance to all the time came up.

I halted to a stop and reversed back to my window with smiles on my face.

It's a South African song actually, JERUSALEM BY MASTER KG ft Nomcebo.

I walked down to my balcony.

"OMG" I grinned.

The window of a girl my age was wide open and I could see her dancing to the song passionately.

I don't understand the lyrics but the beat is a killer, her dance moves was superb.

This song has made me fall in love with African music, I'm definitely downloading it.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket to download when the girl dancing turned and saw me.

She froze in shock as we stared at each other.

"MINA!" I exclaimed

She ran towards her window, locked it and pulled her curtain close.

Mina lives next door?

I walked back into my room as I finished downloading the song.

What other surprises is waiting for me in this country? I suppose we'll find out later on.

Tuesday (7:15am)

Sean's POV

I threw my guitar in the backseat of my car and was about stepping into the car when I heard a car horn outside.

I turned to look and saw Chris and Nydia waving.

"Come on lets go" Nydia yelled.

I quickly remove my bag and guitar as I jogged down to the driveway

"What's up guys" I said and got into the backseat.

"How was your night?" Chris turned and looked at me with a wide grin.

"It's none of your business" I replied.

"Well lemme tell you how my night went guys" Chris went on.

"Chris please, not now" Nydia pleaded.

"I had a scary dream" He turned the ignition and started driving.

"Chris please we don't want to hear any of your dreams" I said flatly.

"And in my dream I was driving my car with you guys in it, then boom we got into a terrible accident" He said.

We turned to look at him for a minute or two.

He burst into laughter.

"Stop the stupid car" Nydia screamed.

He increased the speed instead.

"Chris stop this car right now" I also yelled.

"Chris" Nydia screamed and landed a heavy punch on his face.

"Not the face" He yelled and screeched to a stop.

Nydia and I dashed out of the car.

Chris laughs still holding his face.

"Guys that was a joke okay, I'm sorry" He said.

"I'm going to take my car"

I started walking down towards the direction of my house while Nydia wait behind.

"Richard it's a joke, look I'm sorry man" Chris said reversing towards me.

"Nydia I'm sorry" he said giving her a wink.

She rolled her eyes and hopped back in.

After driving past a few houses in the estate, Chris pulled to a stop by a huge white Mansion.

"Why did you stop?" I asked.

"Oh sorry I didn't tell you guys, I will be picking up Raina" Chris announced.

"What? Why?" I frowned.

"Why? Because she's my friend and so I told her I'll pick her up" He got out of his car.

"Give me a minute guys"

Chris went ahead to dust his shirt, adjust his blue tie, checked his breath, released one of his buttons to reveal his broad chest.

"Uhh what are you doing Chris?" Nydia looked at him irritably.

"How do I look guys? Chris asked smiling like an idiot.

I held my fist tight trying to control my anger.

"You look good" I said with a fake grin.

"You too much" He bounced towards the house.

I turned to look at Nydia who was about shedding a tear.

"Don't cry Nydia, God will touch him" I said sadly.

"The person that did this thing to him will die young ooo" She cursed.

I scoffed inwardly.

Raina's POV

I was almost done with breakfast when I heard the doorbell ring

"Mum he's here" I announced

"I'll get it keep eat" Mum left the dinning table and walked towards the door

She pulled the door open.

"Good morning ma, my name is Chris and I'm Raina's friend" Chris greeted warmly while smiling

"Chris" she said scanning him from head to toe

"Is anything wrong ma'am? This one you're scanning me like LASTMA officers" He asked

Mum laughs and shook her head.

"Everything is fine, please come in" she opened the door wider to let him in.

"Ma'am I must confess you look like a model" Chris praised.

"Thank you" Mum blushed and smiled.

Ok this is getting weird.

They both walked down to the dinning room.

"Hey Chris" I said with a smile.

"Hello snow-white" He teased.

I smiled.

"Hey little sister" He said and pulled a sit beside Riley.

She ignored him with a frown on her face and concentrated on her food.

"What's wrong with her" Chris asked turning to look at us.

"She's frowning her face as if she failed Jamb" He continued.

My mum chuckled and replied "She doesn't do well with strangers"

I finally finished eating.

"Can we go now" I stood up.

"I must say your house is really beautiful" Chris said looking around the house.

"Why thank you" I replied.

"Definitely not like my friend Richard's house" He shaked his head in pity.

"If you are looking for shrine just enter his room, everywhere is just as red as a tomato" He continued.

Mum couldn't stop laughing.

Okay, I think I just brought a comedian into my home.

Jordy's POV

I looked at the mirror and combed my hair for the last time before running out of my room.

It took me two minutes running down the spiral staircase until I arrived at the living room.

I could see my mum and sisters having a conversation while they ate breakfast at the dinning.

"Good morning guys" I grabbed a chair to sit.

Mum looked at me.

"Romeo" she said.

"Yes mum" I replied.

"Romeo" She said again.

I ignored her.

"How many times did I call you?" Mum pressed on.

"I dunno maybe fifty six" I replied wondering what the matter was.

My sisters both chuckled at my response.

"Why did you lock your body guards in the bathroom yesterday?" She asked seriously.

"Mum I already told you I don't need a body guard, those guys are annoying and they almost followed me into......."

"Please don't say it" Joanne quickly stopped me

"Else I won't be able to eat"

I chortled at her words and said loudly "TOILET"

She dropped her fork and turned to glare at me.

"You're such an asshole" She pushed her chair back and left.

"Joanna those words are not allowed in this house" Mum yelled.

"Mum I'm ready" My little sister Janice said and pushed her chair backward.

"By the way you can go pick up your uniform from the principal's office today" Mum said.

"Okay captain" I gave her a salute in reply.

I watched my mum and Janice as they walked out of sight.

Beside me was Ziggler waiting for me as usual.

I picked one of my chicken and gave it to him.

I drank my remaining glass of juice before running out of the house as Ziggler battles with his meal.

I walked down to the garage where my bike was parked and got in.

The image of the girl I was dared to date at the cafeteria suddenly popped into my mind.

A smirk crossed my lips as I zoomed out of the gate.

Richard's POV

"What's keeping Chris so long? I thought he said one minute? Nydia was already getting impatient.

Chris and Raina walked out of the house. She kept laughing while he kept talking.

I couldn't stop staring at her as they drew closer.

"Chris seriously? Is this your one minute? I said trying to keep my anger in check.

"Sorry guys just a little delay" He quickly apologized.

"Hello guys" Raina greeted stretching out her hand for a handshake.

"Hey Raina" Nydia said as they shook hands.

"Uhm..hey Raina" I replied coldly accepting her handshake.

Chris clears his throat.

"Nydia" He said while grinning.

"What?" Nydia threw him a look.

"Can you join your husband to sit at the back so Raina can sit at the front?"

Nydia and I turned to look at each other as we began laughing.

"I'm sure they have exchanged your brain with bread" She said.

"He's even claiming this tortoise car" I added still laughing.

"My car tortoise car? See this one, your own car that looks coffin van" Chris replied.

"Yeee, this wan enter" Nydia said in pidgin and threw her head backwards laughing hard.

"See who is talking, Keke Napep is faster than your car if you don't know" I threw back.

Nydia kept laughing while Raina stared at us obviously amused.

After a while of throwing banter at each other

Raina finally said "Uhh guys"

We stopped laughing.

"Do you realize we are late for school?"
