Richard's POV

I couldn't stop rolling my eyes as Chris kept looking at Raina and I while we talked.

To make it worst for him, we exchanged numbers.

Chris caught Nydia staring at him.

"Why are you staring at me like I'm your twin brother?" He asked

Nydia scoffed

"Twin brother? If I have a twin brother like you I would have donated him to the zoo a long time."

"I know you're just jealous of my looks", Chris grinned

"Looks you say? Obasanjo is more handsome than you are, don't let people deceive you", she added

"And you think you're safe? See this Ape oh, do you know what we call beauty?", He looked back and gave Raina a wink

I quickly fix my headphones Into my ears to avoid laughing while Raina kept staring at them curiously.

We finally arrived.

Together we walked out of the parking lot along with other student and entered the elevator.

Chris and I did our signature greeting with Nydia and we both walked out of the elevator together with Raina.

Nydia's POV

After my hella friends left I pressed the buttons to the seventeenth floor.

Immediately the elevator opened, I stepped out.

Like a flash a student came rushing into the elevator before it closes, rammed his head into mine as we both fell to the ground.

"OSHEYY SMACKDOWN", some students who walked passed us joked.

"Jesus Christ" I screamed and held my forehead in pain while I rolled around the floor.

Tears welled up in my eyes and threatened to fall down on my face.

I stubbornly blinked it back.

I dragged myself up in fury, the guy who ran into me slowly got up still holding his forehead.

"I'm sorry I didn't......"

I landed a heavy punch on his face before he finished his statement.

"Why don't you watch where you are going"?

He raised his head to look at me.

I realized it was Jordy's best friend Benny.

Who doesn't know Jordy?

Everyone knows Jordy's parents built this school, and Benny has been his friend from childhood.

"Look am sorry okay?" He got up

"Lemme take you to the nurse", He insisted

"No am fine" I turned back and walked away.

Back in class I kept massaging the small bump on my head. Damn that Benny I should have punched him harder I cursed under my breath.

Looking up I saw Jordy and Benny walking into class.

Jordy's POV

We all stared at Mr John the English teacher as he brought out a transparent jar filled with folded papers.

"Okay class, here's what going to happen, the folded papers in this jar contains your names, not just your names but paired names", Mr John began

"Sir please I don't understand, could you explain using a diagram?", Chris said.

He picked up a marker and walked to the white board.

"In each paper contains the names of a boy and a girl which I selected myself" Mr John went on as he drew the head of a boy and a girl.

Chris started laughing.

Everybody turned to look at him.

"What's funny?" I asked.

He shook his head in reply.

"Everyone of you will come out, pick any paper amd go back to your seat, easy as ABC"

One at a time we walked out and picked our papers.

"God please let me be paired with Raina", I heard Chris whispering beside me as he picked up his paper.

I rolled my eyes as I selected the first one my eyes came across.

"You can open your papers now", Mr John said monotonously.

"Oh God why?", A girl screamed.

We all started laughing.

I slowly opened my paper and saw her name and mine written boldly, Raina & Richard.

I breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed in my seat.

I turned to look at Chris who was still praying silently.

"Hey dude, if you like speak in tongues you will not be paired with Raina", I said with a smirk.

He swiftly turned to look at me.

"Do you wanna bet?" He asked.

"Look just open the stupid paper", I said tiredly.

"Are you scared of betting?" Chris chuckled.

"You have nothing useful for me to bet okay, so just open your paper lemme see who you're paired with.

He slowly unfolded the paper and froze upon seeing the name Mina & Mark boldly written.

"What?" Chris screamed.

I couldn't stop laughing.

"Why Mina?", He jumped up from his seat in despair.

"CM, a nice pair", I grinned.

Mina's POV

Without hesitation I unfolded my paper, my heart skipped a beat when I saw his name, Chris & Mina boldly written.

A smile crossed my lips immediately.

I might be a quiet and private person but Chris has been my secret admirer right from the first day I started school here.

He's funny, I love his hairstyle, his smile and his brilliance. He might not be brilliant to others but I think otherwise.

Sometimes I get butterflies staring at him in class but I just don't have the boldness to approach him.

Maybe he might reject me or even make fun of me if I tell him how I feel.

I guess fate has brought us together.

I turned to look where he sat with his best friend who kept laughing

"So I'm sure you all have seen your partner's name", Mr John concluded

"Uhh excuse me sir", Chris got up quickly

"Yes is there a problem", He asked.

"Sir I think you made a mistake", Chris went on

"What kind of mistake?" He asked again.

"You paired me with Mina", Chris said frowning and looking as if he will cry any moment.

"Is there a problem with that?", Mr John said getting annoyed.

"How can you make me a partner with this shadow? It doesn't rhyme with my colour", Chris went on.

Everybody burst out laughing as they turned to look at me.

I bowed my head in shame as the laughter grew louder.

"Chris, if you don't sit down I'm sending you to the principal's office this instance", Mr John said in a threatening voice.

He slowly slump on his seat in dejection.

"Mina?", Mr John called out to me.

I ignored as little droplets of tears flowed down my cheeks.

"Mina it's okay, please sit up", He continued.

"Ignore him", Raina said and touched my shoulder.

"Don't you dare touch me", I screamed as I pushed her hand away and ran out of the class.

I ran down the hall with tears flowing down my face ignoring the stares from students.

I ran into the female bathroom, walked into one of the toilets and locked myself in. WHY?.

Chris' POV

I turned to look at Richard in astonishment.

"Did I say something wrong? It was only a joke" I asked.

"Not everyone see everything as a joke, to be honest you really hurt her feelings and you really embarrassed her in front of the whole class, you should apologize to her", Richard said as a matter of fact.

I exhaled deeply rubbing my temples.

"You and your partner are to compose a love poem with a title that says LAST WISH, by next week Friday you will stand before the whole school to present, a price is attached for the best poem in the whole school" The teacher concluded.

The bell rings.

We all dashed out of our class in a hurry.

I quickly rushed out of the class in search for Mina. I really messed up.

Richard's POV

I could see Raina concentrated on her phone.

"Hey Raina?", I walked over to her.

She raised up her head to look at me.

"Hey Richard where's Chris?", She asked dryly

"In search for his partner, do you realize you and I are......." I went on

"I know, please excuse me", She cut in and got up.

I watched her as she walked out of the class.

Did I do something wrong?

Chris POV

I stood at the entrance of the girls bathroom watching different types of girls walk in and out.

I noticed the blush on some of their faces as I smiled at them.

A white girl walked out trying to tie her ponytail.

"Excuse me" I walked up to her.

"Hello" She replied.

"Please did you by any means see a tall, slim and dark girl in there?" I asked.

"I don't know, why don't you go see for yourself", She replied.

"Oh thank you" I said

I watched her as she catwalks down the empty hallway.

I pulled the door open and poked my head in, it looks empty.

"Mina? Are you here?" , I yelled and walked in.

Without knocking I pulled the first door open and saw a girl trying to wear her panties.

"Are you out of your mind", She slammed the door shut to my face.

"I'm so sorry" I quickly apologized.

I knocked the second door nobody replied.

Soon the girl walked out glaring daggers at me.

"I didn't see anything", I raised my hands up in defense.

She walked down to the sink and washed her hands slowly.

"By the way what are you doing in the female toilet?", She asked staring at me through the mirror.

"I came to plant yam, Ode", I hissed while replying in Yoruba.

The third door suddenly opens and Mina walked out.

"Mina?" I called out

She walked down towards the sink to wash her hands, ignoring me.

"Mina I'm sorry how I spoke to you earlier in class" as I walked closer to her.

The girl by the other sink turned to look at us.

"What's going on?" She asked.

I glared at her in fury.

"Does it look like we're planning Traditional wedding? Will you mind your business?", I said impatiently.

She poked out her middle finger before storming out of the toilet.

I turned to look at Mina who was busy washing her face.

"Mina I was only joking okay, please I'm sorry", I held her by the wrist.

"Please just let me be", Tears flowed down her cheeks

"How could you disgrace me in front of the whole class? Have I ever done anything bad to you? Have I ever insulted you?", She questioned.

Each question stabbed my heart.

She kept crying, I couldn't bear the tears dropping down her cheeks.

Mina sniffed "I have to go"

"No please wait", I pulled her close to me.

I quickly pulled her into a hug as she cried in my arms. Oh Mina!

Raina's POV

I picked up my tray of food as I glanced around the cafeteria for an empty spot, I could see Richard and Nydia eating quietly at their usual spot, Chris ruined my mood this afternoon.

I found an empty table, I had just walked a few meters from the buffet when I suddenly stepped on something.

I prepared myself for the fall when I felt a strong arm wrapped around me.

I opened my eyes and I was staring at a cute guy with a beautiful smile and a confident look, he was holding my tray.

"You should watch where you're going", He helped me back to my feet.

"Thank you" I said as I collected my tray from him.

"You're welcome, hey do you want to sit with me and some friends", He asked while pointing to a table.

"Sure, why not", I replied with a smile.

"By the way I'm Jordy, what's your name gorgeous?" He smiled revealing his dimples and his dreamy eyes staring at me in anticipation.

Okay he's so handsome.

"I'm Raina" I blinked at him.

"Lemme help you with your tray" He offered.

"Oh don't worry, I can carry my tray myself", I said politely.

"I insist, beautiful girl like you deserve no stress", He grinned.

I blushed.

"Okay fine" I hand it over to him.

Together we walked down to his table.

He introduced me to his friends.

"Hey guys, I want you to meet my new friend, Raina", He announced as he dropped my tray on an empty spot.

"Hi", I said with a wide grin.

"Hello princess Raina", a guy said stretching his hand for a handshake which I took.

"Wow ain't you a beauty", another guy chirped in.

I couldn't stop smiling, I mean who doesn't like getting compliments.

"Nice to meet you my love", The last guy said and blew me a kiss.

These guys are so cheeky.

Jordy cleared his throat.

"That's enough", He said and pulled out a seat for me.

"Thank you" I said and sat down.

Nydia's POV

"Nydai this bump on your forehead is getting bigger", Richard said with his mouth full.

I picked up my phone to see my reflection.

"Gosh this is really embarrassing" I said and got up.

"Where are you going?", He asked.

"To the bathroom"

I walked out of the cafeteria and strolled down to the nearest bathroom.

With my hands still on my forehead, I pushed the door open but I stopped on my track when I saw Chris and a girl hugging.

Wait what?

I slowly closed the door and walked outside.

"No this can't be happening?" I said with my hands akimbo

He can't just fall for a random girl all of a sudden, he's supposed to inform Richard and I first.

I hurried down the hall back to the cafeteria.

I took a little break from writing because of personal reasons, but I'm back now.
