C18 Tame! the Cunning Spirit Beast!

The place where the spirit beasts are kept is clearly different from where ordinary animals are housed. Spirit beasts have their own thoughts, and some even possess various elemental powers. Only rooms reinforced with spiritual force can contain these cunning creatures.

In Soong Xueling's imagination, spirit beasts should be the kind that make the ground tremble with a stomp or cause thunder and lightning with a roar. So, when Chu Yuan led her to a pale yellow, semi-transparent room and she saw a mysterious round object bouncing around and making strange noises, she was dumbfounded.

Is this... the legendary spirit beast?

"Ahem, don't be fooled by its appearance, kid. Its power has reached the Imperial Green level, and its strength is not to be underestimated," Chu Yuan said, sounding a bit embarrassed.

The round object bounced around at an incredible speed, making Xueling dizzy. Hey, could you take a break? Aren't you tired at all?

"Uh..." A cute voice came from the round object. After a couple more bounces, it actually stopped and stuck to the spiritual force wall in front of Xueling with a splat, like clay being flattened.

Seeing this, Xueling's confusion only deepened. What on earth is this thing?

The fluffy ball wriggled with effort a couple of times before finally peeling itself off the wall of spiritual force, revealing its true form: "Hee hee hee..."

Hee hee, my foot! Soong Xueling wiped the imaginary sweat off her forehead, glaring at the white, fluffy ball.

The ball blinked its round little eyes, speaking in an adorably clueless voice: "Huh, you can hear me?"

"Yes." Soong Xueling tried to keep her voice gentle, even though she was at a loss with this little creature. After all, she still needed to tame it.

"Well, can you let me out? It's so boring in here." The little creature wiggled its body, clearly trying to be cute.

Soong Xueling forced a smile as she looked at the creature: "I'm afraid not."

"Why not? You seem like such a nice person." The creature blinked, its fluffy white fur dimming with a hint of sadness.

Nice person, my foot! We're not even the same species, okay? Soong Xueling felt her patience wearing thin. She had to admit, though, that spirit beasts were much more intelligent than ordinary animals, making communication easy.

But for Soong Xueling, dealing with a creature that only knew how to act cute was frustrating. She had no choice but to put on a stern face and say, "Unless you agree to a contract with a human, you'll have to stay in there."

"Waaah, you're so cruel..." the little creature whimpered weakly, its voice full of pitiful complaint.

Soong Xueling, at her wit's end, mentally snapped, "Shut up!"

Startled, the little creature fluffed up in fright, then choked out, "But you're just too fierce. I... I don't want to make a pact with you."

"Heh, I wasn't planning on making a pact with you either," Soong Xueling replied, looking at the round creature with disdain.

The little creature shivered again, its gaze timidly shifting to Chu Yuan, who stood beside Soong Xueling. "Then it's only him..."

Although this person didn't seem particularly friendly either, he was clearly more approachable than the terrifying woman.

Soong Xueling glanced at Chu Yuan, especially noting his curious and bewildered expression. A mischievous impulse rose within her. "Your Highness, if one wants to form a pact with a Spirit Beast, how does that work?"

"All pacts between humans and beasts are sealed with blood. Human blood is needed to awaken the mark within the Spirit Beast, thus forming the pact. This allows both parties to communicate mentally and cooperate in battle," Chu Yuan explained earnestly, suspecting nothing.

Soong Xueling nodded. "So, if the Spirit Beast bites you, that would seal the pact?"
