C37 To Increase His Knowledge

After a brief exchange with Lin Yun, Chen Yu, and the others, Lin Xuan left the scene amidst the admiring stares of the crowd, making his way toward the Martial Arts Pavilion.

His recent duel with Zhang Tao had earned him a substantial number of energy points.

Lin Xuan was confident that the spread of this news would lead to an influx of even more energy points.

He was quite pleased with himself.

Strolling down the road, he casually replicated various pills and spiritual medicines.

Before long, he reached the Martial Arts Pavilion.

Straddling the boundary between the Inner and Outer Sects, the Pavilion welcomed both sets of disciples to select from its trove of secret manuals.

From a distance, the Pavilion stood as a four-story edifice exuding an ancient charm, its historical gravitas demanding respect.

The first level housed an assortment of records, historical texts, medical tomes, and martial arts manuals of the third rank.

The second and third floors contained higher-ranked martial arts manuals.

Outer Sect disciples typically had access only to the first floor, while Inner Sect and Core disciples were permitted on the second and third floors.

The fourth floor was reserved for the Sect's legacy, accessible only to Core disciples, Elders, and the Sect Master who had made significant contributions.

These details were well-known within the Sect.

Lin Xuan was already familiar with them.

With a quick survey, he stepped inside.

Entering the first floor of the Pavilion, he was greeted by a spacious hall lined with rows of ancient bookshelves, as disciples browsed through the selection of manuals.

To the right of the entrance stood a counter, manned by a deacon responsible for overseeing the Pavilion's affairs.

Observing the deacon, Lin Xuan inwardly sighed.

This deacon was considerably stronger than Zhao Quxin and his peers, having reached the late period of the Condensation Spin Stage.

Yet, his power paled in comparison to that of the Third Elder.

Lin Xuan's own potential strength had surged to the pinnacle of the Outer Sect after duplicating the Third Elder's treasures, rendering the deacon's possessions unappealing.

The treasures of the newly initiated Outer Sect disciples held no allure for him either.

His immediate goal was to select a few secret manuals.

Lin Xuan was well aware that the Martial Arts Pavilion, as a stronghold of the Drifting Cloud Sect, was undoubtedly under the watchful eye of a true powerhouse.

However, the formidable individual was clearly not on the ground floor.

He couldn't catch sight of them.

With a distance exceeding ten meters between them, he was unable to replicate the person's treasure.

He had no choice but to let it go.

Afterward, Lin Xuan made his way into the first floor of the Martial Arts Pavilion.

He took over ten minutes to carefully select several secret tomes, covering a wide range of disciplines.

These were all meant to mask his own martial arts skills.

He had no intention of practicing these arts, but their levels were not insignificant—they were all at the upper echelon of Rank 3.

Once he had made his selections, Lin Xuan intended to take them to the counter for registration.

Suddenly, as he glanced at a nearby bookshelf, he paused.

"Since I've come this far, I might as well explore thoroughly," Lin Xuan whispered to himself.

Having been in this Martial Arts World for just over a month, his knowledge was limited to the memories in his mind and the experiences of the past month. He was still largely unfamiliar with the intricacies and marvels of this world of martial arts.

But now, he had the opportunity to learn.

The Drifting Cloud Sect was one of the four major sects in Cangyuan Country—a top-tier force.

The collection of books here was beyond anything the Lin Family had access to.

This was the perfect chance for him to expand his knowledge.

After a moment's contemplation, Lin Xuan made up his mind.

Reaching the historical section, he set aside the secret manuals he was carrying and casually picked up a volume of historical records to peruse.

Lin Xuan's innate talent had already positioned him at the pinnacle of the Outer Sect, surpassing many within the Inner Sect.

As his talent had grown, so had his capacity for understanding.

His ability to comprehend was extraordinary, not something the average person could match.

Currently, Lin Xuan was rapidly flipping through the pages of the book in his hands. His speed of reading was astonishing.

Such a pace was unattainable for other martial artists.

Yet Lin Xuan had committed every detail to memory.

"Is this what it means to have the edge of a genius?"

With a slight nod, Lin Xuan continued his reading.

Time slipped away unnoticed, and several hours passed in the blink of an eye.

Closing the last worn book, Lin Xuan's eyes gleamed with contentment.

He had finally finished reading, having devoted the entire morning to the task.

Lin Xuan gazed out at the sky, silently reveling in the wealth of knowledge he had gained.

The Drifting Cloud Sect truly lived up to its reputation as one of the four great sects.

The book from the first floor alone spanned a breadth of topics, including martial arts fundamentals, Pill Dao, formation talismans, spirit medicine, beast taming, geography, and astronomy. It was a comprehensive tome.

Though Lin Xuan had only begun to delve into its pages, the material was more than sufficient to establish a solid foundation.

Having absorbed the content of these books, Lin Xuan now possessed a preliminary grasp of the Martial Arts World. He would no longer find himself bewildered in future encounters.

Subsequently, Lin Xuan collected the secret manuals he had selected earlier and approached the counter to check them out.

Before he could utter a word, some of the other Outer Sect disciples who had also picked their secret manuals scoffed.

"Is this guy an idiot? He's taken so many secret manuals?"

"He must be a newbie. He probably doesn't know the Outer Sect's rules, thinking he can just pick whatever he wants."

"Even seasoned disciples are limited to one manual at a time, much less a newcomer."

"This guy's in for a scolding from the deacon."

Unperturbed by their mockery, Lin Xuan placed the manuals on the counter and addressed the deacon:

"Deacon, I've selected these books. Could you please register them for me?"

The deacon's face hardened at the request, and he let out a disdainful huff:

"You're a new beginner level disciple, aren't you? Haven't you bothered to learn the rules of the Drifting Cloud Sect? New disciples like you are truly tiresome."

"The rule is clear: one book per person, per visit."

"This time, head back without any books. Next time you come to choose, remember this as a lesson learned!"

The deacon's mustache bristled as he barked his reprimand.

The other Outer Sect disciples smirked, anticipating the unfolding drama.

"No, I intend to take these books. Please, go ahead and register them," Lin Xuan insisted, his demeanor cool and composed.

"Do you really think you can defy a directive from an Outer Sect disciple like me?"

Upon witnessing the scene, a flicker of anger passed through the deacon's eyes, poised to mete out a minor punishment to Lin Xuan. The sneers deepened in the eyes of the nearby Outer Sect disciples.

However, in an instant, they all froze.

Their attention was captured by a black token Lin Xuan produced. Emblazoned on it were the bold words 'Top Potential'.

"Deacon, may I now borrow a book?" Lin Xuan asked with a composed air.

The disciples and the deacon around him snapped out of their stupor, as though awakening from a dream. They stared at Lin Xuan, incredulous.

Whispers broke out among them.

"Is that the identity token of the top potential new disciple?"

"Could he be the Lin Xuan that the Third Elder of the Outer Sect lauded, the preeminent talent among the new initiates with the makings of a true disciple?"

"If it's Lin Xuan, he would indeed have the privilege to select several secret texts."
