C2 Martial Spirit

"I choose to stay!"

After taking several deep breaths, Ye Cann spoke with deliberate calm.

The allure of Innate Full Soul Power and the Dark Bluesilver Grass was particularly strong for Ye Cann, especially the former. On the Douluo Continent, only those with Innate Full Soul Power could access that legendary realm. Moreover, the level of one's innate Soul Point was a key determinant in a Soul Master's future success.

A Soul Master with merely a first-grade innate Soul Point... unless they consumed some Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures to alter their constitution, they would be doomed to remain a Grand Soul Master for life. But for a Soul Master with Innate Full Soul Power, simple cultivation could elevate them to the status of a formidable Soul Emperor.

Indeed, Innate Full Soul Power was one of the pillars that could elevate a Soul Master to the pinnacle of the Douluo Continent.

While the Dark Bluesilver Grass was not inherently weaker than the Bluesilver Emperor, it was still, at its core, Bluesilver Grass. Against a Soul Master with a Bluesilver Emperor, its abilities would be significantly diminished. Ye Cann wasn't fond of the notion of being subdued by another's power.

Compared to the second option, the reward for the first choice was far more fitting for Ye Cann. The Twelve Trials of Immortality was a divine-level cultivation technique. Tang San's legendary achievements on the Douluo Continent owed much to the Tang Sect's Mysterious Heaven Method. Ye Cann was convinced that the Twelve Trials of Immortality bestowed upon him by the system was equally potent.

Moreover, Ye Cann had another reason for opting for the first choice.

He was on the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest, the most perilous place on the entire Douluo Continent. Deep within the forest's core, dozens of Soul Beasts that had lived for a hundred thousand years roamed. A mere roar from one of them could spell his end.

The Yu Tianlang before him was not just his lifesaver but also his lifeline.

A man capable of surviving on the fringes of the Star Dou Great Forest was no ordinary individual!

And on the Douluo Continent, a man bearing the surname Yu was surely from that formidable organization!

Yu Tianlang watched Ye Cann with a grin, his voice emerging chillingly from his throat, a stark contrast to the warmth he had displayed in the cabin. "Kid, since you've chosen to stay in my compound, I'll cut to the chase. I'm aware that your identity is not so straightforward. Now that you've decided to stay, you must follow my lead."

Identity?

Ye Cann let out a wry smile. It seemed the original owner of his current body was no ordinary individual.

"Congratulations, host, on completing your first choice. You've earned the reward of a divine-level cultivation technique: the Twelve Trials of Immortality!"

Yu Tianlang, noticing Ye Cann's bewildered stance, offered an awkward smile and muttered under his breath, "I really am not cut out for the villain role. I just hope this lad from the Xingluo Empire doesn't let me down. The ties between the Martial Soul Hall and the Shangsan Sect are becoming increasingly tangled."

Ye Cann didn't catch Yu Tianlang's murmurs. He was too busy reveling in the elation of receiving the divine-level cultivation technique from the system.

The Twelve Trials of Immortality, a divine-level technique, comprised twelve distinct levels. For every three levels he mastered, Ye Cann would gain the ability to resurrect once. Moreover, there was a fifty percent chance he could unlock a unique skill.

He had indeed made the right choice!

The Twelve Trials of Immortality would not only develop Ye Cann into a Soul Master with innate full soul power but would also unlock the latent potential within him. Besides, Ye Cann was eager to discover the true nature of the Martial Spirit concealed within his body.

Yu Tianlang tossed a rusted dagger to the frail Ye Cann and said icily, "Kid, if you wish to make it in the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest, you need to master the first lesson: hunting!"

Hunting?

A flicker of change crossed Ye Cann's face. To him, hunting was nothing out of the ordinary.

"In the vicinity of my courtyard roam ten-year-old Soul Beasts. You're already familiar with what Soul Beasts are, right?"

Ye Cann nodded, his expression wooden.

"Excellent! Take that dagger and hunt down a ten-year Soul Beast on the fringes of the Star Dou Great Forest. Only then will you earn the privilege to reside in my courtyard."

Ye Cann's eyebrows arched as he spoke firmly, "Didn't you say I could stay?"

"There's no such thing as a free lunch in this world," Yu Tianlang retorted.

Suddenly, a powerful surge of energy erupted from Yu Tianlang, propelling Ye Cann out of the tranquil courtyard.

Clutching the rusted dagger, Ye Cann's senses sharpened the moment he was expelled. With no alternatives left, he faced the constant threat of death in the Star Dou Great Forest—even on its least perilous outskirts.

Ye Cann stretched and loosened his muscles, knowing he needed to assess the situation. As a spy, maintaining a cool head at all times was an essential skill.

All he had was a rusty dagger, a frail body, and the divine-level cultivation technique known as the twelve trials of immortality. That was the sum of his possessions.

With his current resources, taking down a ten-year Soul Beast was out of the question for Ye Cann.

He could handle a wild beast thanks to his extensive experience, but a ten-year Soul Beast was a different story.

After Yu Tianlang had sent Ye Cann out of the courtyard, he stroked his chin, murmuring, "Given that you're a descendant of that group, you should have no trouble killing a ten-year Soul Beast, right? A kid who survives an encounter with three two-thousand-year-old Soul Beasts is certainly not as simple as he appears."

When Yu Tianlang had encountered Ye Cann, the three Soul Beasts surrounding him were all two-thousand-year-old, First Grade creatures!

On the Douluo Continent, Soul Masters were distinguished by varying levels of innate talent, just as Soul Beasts were classified by the grade of their bloodline.

From Ninth Grade to First Grade, right up to the Super Soul Beast, the hierarchy was clear. A Ninth Grade Thousand-year Soul Beast was no match for a First Grade Hundred-year Soul Beast.

A sharp sound rang out, and in an instant, Ye Cann became a shadow, darting into the adjacent woods. He used the terrain to conceal himself.

From the shadows emerged a Soul Beast, a baboon standing roughly two meters tall, covered in brownish-yellow fur, with thick arms and razor-sharp claws. Beneath it lay a canine Soul Beast, its body a deep, dark hue.

Ye Cann recognized the creature immediately: a Wind Baboon.

A Ninth Grade Soul Beast, the adult Wind Baboon could reach the age of 900 years. Within their species, it was rare for any to evolve into a Thousand-year Soul Beast. Thus, Wind Baboons typically resided on the outskirts of the Star Dou Great Forest.

"Host, please make your selection," a voice prompted.

"Option one: If you kill this Wind Baboon, you will receive the Super Martial Spirit, the Icy Jade Emperor Scorpion, as a reward."

"Option two: If you evade detection by this Wind Baboon, you will be rewarded with the Hidden Weapon, the Flying God Claw."
