C18 Chapter 18

Just as if they came back to their senses Suddenly Dan felt his heart starting to race. This feeling was weird. He was feeling weird, so weird. He suddenly but gently pushed her off.

He cleared his throat while was about to speak when his phone suddenly rang. It was Rose's personal nurse. He immediately picked up the call.

"What?!"

"I'm coming right away!" He yelled and hung up and Melanie looked at him curiously.

"Doc Melanie, we have an emergency. Let's go!" He yelled and the both of them started to run hurriedly.

They both paused when they got in front of Rose's room and Dan Dan quickly flung the door open.

Rose was having a cardiac arrest and though some doctors were already working on her, they still couldn't pinpoint the issue.

"Clear the way and Doc Melanie, bring me the cardiac defibrillator!" He yelled and immediately rushed up to her and and checked her pulse and immediately the cardiac defibrillator was brought to him.

"All clear??!" He asked impatiently.

"Clear,,!" Doc Melanie responded. He hurriedly rubbed the two iron together and quickly pressed it on her chest and she jerked up.

"One more time clear?!" He asked.

"Clear!"

He quickly pressed it together on her chest and a beeping sound from the machine was heard.

"Heartbeat returned to normal!" Melanie announced and both her and Dan heaved a sigh of relief. Dan couldn't deny that he was practically scared.

Melanie held her hand and with tears glistening in her eyes. She sighed again.

"I can feel her pulse" She said and held Rose's hand more tightly.

"Thank God!" she muttered.

She had grown more attached to Rose the past few days and she couldn't imagine losing her.

Dan sighed and went out immediately and Melanie hurriedly followed him.

"What do we do now? It's getting more worse. At this rate she might only have few more months to live" She said and Dan faced her.

"We are starting the chemotherapy process immediately. If it doesn't work then, we have no other option but to perform surgery" He said with a coy expression and Melanie nodded.

It seemed like this was the only time they had a decent conversation. Dan sighed and turned to leave but immediately turned back.

"Thanks for your help, Doc Melanie" He added with a smile and Melanie looked at him shocked.

"Is he actually thanking her cause she doesn't believe this at all" Melanie said to herself and blinked her eyes repeatedly.

"You are going to be on night duty today because of rose. We have to start the treatment today" He added and walked away leaving Melanie dumb struck.
