C19 Chapter 19

Few seconds earlier.

Dan sighed as he walked more faster. Something was definitely wrong here. Or could it he that Melanie is a witch? Gosh! She must be bewitching him.

*Gosh, Dan, when did you start thinking like this?" He questioned himself.

He faced palmed himself and sighed.

"Dan!!!!!" He heard a female squeal and he glanced up. His lips curved up into a smile.

"Rachael, you are here" He said still hugging her.

"Why won't I?? You didn't come to the airport to pick me up so as soon as I landed I came here" She said and they disengaged from the hug.

"Was it because of your work you didn't come to pick me up" She said pursing her lips and he chuckled.

"You know how I get when it comes to my work" He said.

Rachel's eyes suddenly went to the back and she sighted Melanie looking at her strangely.

Dan noticed it and he also turned.

"Oh! She's my colleague , Doc Melanie" He said and Rachael flashed a bright smile at her.

'I'm Rachael, Dan's friend" She said bringing out her hand for a handshake. Melanie looked at it coldly and then faked a smile as she received the handshake.

Rachael smiled and whispered to Dan.

"She's beautiful..." She said and Dan found himself nodding and smiling too.

"She's beautiful.." He thought.

Melanie watched them angrily.

"We'll leave now" Rachael said to Dan and Melanie nodded and watched them angrily.

"Why am I even angry?"She asked herself and headed home.

She walked in and dropped her bag on the couch angrily startling Chelsea who was sitting on the couch watching a k drama.

"You are back?" She said surprised.

"I didn't notice" She added.

"Yeah, you were engrossed in the k drama.." She said and rolled her eyes.

"Why di I get the feeling that you are angry" Chelsea said and stood up so she could see her clearly.

"I'm not..." She fumed. She wondered why she was so mad.

*Calm down, breathe in and out.." She told herself.

"I'm fine, I'm just hungry..." She said and sat down.

"Well, let me get your food for you..." Chelsea said and walked into the kitchen.

She remembered the strange girl. She was beautiful but not pretty than her. Her hair was blonde and long, she had big brown eyes and her lips were pale pink. Well, she is beautiful but,,, not more than me" She said.

Chelsea walked in with a bowl of Hoeddeok( a Korean special delicacy) and she gave it to her which she collected with a sigh.

"Now, you can tell me what's going on with you. I know something is wrong" She said and Melanie sighed.

She couldn't lie to Chelsea, she knows her clearly.

"I don't why I'm angry. I mean I got angry when I saw that stupid Dan hugging a girl. I guess i was angry because it's my first time of him being sweet to a girl and not me.." Melanie said with a glare at no one in particular.

Chelsea suddenly started laughing and Melanie looked at her in surprise.

"What the hell?! Melanie just told her my problem and she is laughing?"

"I'm sorry but you're too funny. She looked at me smiling. She pinched her cheeks.

"You're jealous" She said and Melanie scoffed.

"Never and why would I be?" Melanie eyed her.

"That's because you like him" She said and Melanie scoffed but stood this time.

"I'm not!' I quickly defended.

"Oh really and why were you jealous of him hugging another lady" She said with a raised eye brow.

"I told you already.." Melanie said and shook her head.

She couldn't imagine being in love with him. Kim Dan, never. She is not in love. She was just angry because he always treated her badly.

"Mel, just accept your feelings..." Chelsea said to her.

"I won't because I don't have one for him" Melanie said and walked to her room and a smile escaped Chelsea's lips.

"I really want to meet this boss of hers..." She said.

Dan walked in slowly. He succeeded in dropping the troublesome Rachael home. He stopped her from coming with him.

He dropped his phone and sat on the couch. Ethan would probably be sleeping now. He took his phone and clicked on the photos of Rose he took. He didn't know why he did so. But he felt for her. Her beautiful life just crumbled because of a deadly disease. He dropped the phone and went to the kitchen. Ethan descended the stairs slowly with his phone in his hands texting Chelsea. He was beaming with smiles as he texted her, he didn't know how they became close. She would always tell him about her best friend's boss and their fights and they ended up laughing, while he would tell her of his brother and his colleague. Funny enough, the stories were both alike. He scrolled through her pictures and he found himself smiling. He sat on the couch and threw his head backwards. He was even already missing her and couldn't do without seeing her in a day.

Suddenly Dan's phone buzzed and Ethan looked at it.

"What if it's from his colleague. He knows his brother well enough. He was sure he had feelings for her but you know,, he is a proud head. He picked up the phone and immediately unlocked the phone.

Wondering how he knew the passcode, Ethan was a genius. He was always secretly watching him. Finally his hardworking paid. He unlocked it still smiling but what caught his attention was not a message but a picture. A picture of Rose, she was looking so pale and was baked. Immediately his smile faded and he sprang up on his feet.

"Dan!!!" He yelled. This was the first time he called Dan by the name.

"What?" Dan said coming in. Ethan quickly rushed up to him and showed him the picture.

"Who's she?" He asked his breathing erratic.

"Why did you unlock my phone huh?" He said.

"Tell me who is she?' He asked coldly and Dan looked at him with surprise.

"She is my patient.

"Is her name Rose?" He asked.

"Yes but...

"What's wrong with her? Why is she so pale and bladed?"

Dan sighed and rolled his eyes.

"She has cancer!" He broke the bombshell.

"What?! Ethan's eyes widened.

"What do you mean? She was completely fine when we broke up! She has cancer? Hell no!" He yelled and for the first time Dan saw him filled with rage.

"Broke up? Was she your girlfriend?" He asked confusingly.

"Take me to the darn hospital right now?" He yelled and Dan looked at him in shock.
