C10 He Came to Yi Mountain
Since Beixue started working at Lin's Group, she moved away from her previous harsh environment. Although her current place isn't as nice as View Manor, it's decent enough in Jingcheng.
Early the next morning, Beixue packed a few clothes, ready to set out to find someone. She knew there were people likely watching her, so she called the renovation company early and blended in with their crew, ensuring no one would recognize her.
Beixue headed straight to the airport, while two people downstairs continued their surveillance. In the car, the two men began to complain.
"Usually, Beixue would have come down by now. How is it almost nine and she's still not out? Are you sure she went in last night and didn't leave?"
The other man rolled his eyes. "Come on, you know I'd never lie to you. I watched all night without blinking. Unless she can fly, she didn't leave."
Satisfied with his confidence, they continued their watch downstairs. Meanwhile, Beixue boarded a plane to a remote area.
A few hours later, she landed, but Yi Mountain was still far from the state capital, requiring a long journey. After several hours on the road, she was getting closer to Yishui, but it was already dark, so she found a motel to stay the night.
Back at the Bai family villa, Jee Huiru was furious with her two subordinates, sweeping everything off the table while they stood with their heads down.
"What's the point of having you two if you can't even keep track of one woman?"
They remained silent as Huiru stormed off to her room.
Sunlight streamed through the window, warming the damp room. Beixue had been up for a while, unsure if it was insomnia or the excitement of being there. She wore a slightly sheer nightgown, hinting at her alluring underwear, making her look particularly enticing.
She stood by the window, her gaze steady as she looked into the distance. Downstairs, the hustle and bustle of people was already evident.
After changing clothes, Beixue didn't check out of her room, planning to return for the night. She slung a small backpack over her shoulder and headed out.
The path to Yi Mountain was a dirt road, too narrow for cars, so she had to rely on her own two feet. In the past, such a journey would have brought her to tears, but after five years in prison, enduring various hardships, this seemed manageable.
After walking for over three hours, blisters formed on her feet, but she pushed through the pain until she finally saw a stone with "Yi Mountain" carved into it.
From the hill, she could see the village below, mostly made up of dilapidated houses, except for a small villa in the center, standing out as a striking feature.
The village children were clearly curious about Beixue's arrival, as visitors were rare. Seeing her, they gathered around.
Faced with these innocent kids, Beixue was at a loss, but then she remembered the candy in her bag. She took it out and said with a smile, "Line up, everyone gets one, or no one gets any."
Originally, Beixue had kept the candy for herself, as she sometimes struggled with low blood sugar, so she always had some on hand.
As soon as she spoke, the children lined up quietly, their eyes fixed on the candy in her hand. Beixue kept one piece for herself and distributed the rest, then seized the opportunity to ask, "Do you know someone named Lee Jiutian?"
The candy wasn't just a treat; it worked wonders. They all immediately said they knew him.
"That beautiful house is his. He's really wealthy," they said.
Hearing this, Beixue knew which house they meant, as she had already noticed it. In such a poor village, Lee Jiutian might be considered rich, but compared to the former Gu family, it was like comparing a small stream to a vast ocean.
She didn't stay long in front of the kids before heading directly toward the house, moving closer step by step.
Honestly, Beixue felt conflicted. Were the events of the past connected to the people around her father, or was it someone else behind it all?
Soon, Beixue reached the front door of the house and knocked. A woman quickly answered.
The woman looked at her strangely and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
Her speech had a slight drawl, likely a local accent.
Beixue tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and calmly replied, "Is this Lee Jiutian's home?"
Upon hearing this, the woman sized up Beixue, her eyes showing a hint of envy at Beixue's good figure.
"What do you want with him?"
"I'm an old colleague of his and have some matters to discuss."
The woman bluntly refused, "He hasn't been back in five years. What's there to talk about?"
Despite the woman's harsh words, Beixue knew she couldn't be too forceful in this situation.
Beixue smiled and firmly said, "I have some personal business with him. Could you please call him out for me?"
As soon as Beixue finished speaking, the woman became visibly upset.
"Personal business? What kind of personal business could you two have? Is it some kind of affair?"
Beixue forced herself to stay calm, taking a few deep breaths.
"Ma'am, I really need to speak with Lee Jiutian. Please ask him to come out."
The woman seemed to push her luck, saying, "If I don't call him, you look like you might just eat me alive."
Beixue hadn't wanted to lose her temper, but the woman's attitude was becoming too much to bear.
"Enough is enough."
"I'm telling you one more time, get Lee Jiutian out here," Beixue said, enunciating each word clearly.
Seeing the intensity in Beixue's eyes, the woman couldn't help but shiver a little.
She quickly shouted, "Help! Someone's trying to hit me!"
The neighbors, who lived close by, heard her cries and several villagers rushed over. They looked curiously at the unfamiliar woman standing before them. But when they saw Gu Beixue's appearance, they couldn't help but be a little captivated.
Gu Beixue was strikingly attractive, with a well-proportioned figure and a blouse that seemed almost too tight across her chest.
The woman, noticing the attention, quickly added fuel to the fire, exclaiming, "It's her! She's the one trying to hit me! You've got to help me!"
Even though the villagers found Gu Beixue appealing, they knew she was out of reach, and since the other woman was a neighbor, they naturally sided with her.
A few of them stood face-to-face with Gu Beixue, but her gaze remained fixed, staring intently at the woman.
