C8 Heaven's Enemy
Gu Beixue holds the position of director at the Xie Corporation. Having been educated in finance and management from a young age, her creativity has ensured she meets the chairman's expectations in her role. Meanwhile, Bai Luo receives some news.
"How have you been lately?" Zhou Muqing asks.
"I'm doing alright. How about you?" Bai Luo replies.
"I'm planning to return to the States soon," Zhou Muqing says.
"When are you coming back? Do you need me to pick you up?" Bai Luo offers.
"No need," Zhou Muqing responds.
The wind eventually scatters memories. Through information gathered by the Huo family, Gu Beixue learns that dividing the Gu family assets isn't as straightforward as it seems. It appears someone is orchestrating everything behind the scenes with flawless precision.
Gu Beixue has just had an argument with Jee Huiru, who has been throwing tantrums at home, especially since Bai Luo rarely comes back. Jee Huiru doesn't see what she hopes for; Gu Beixue remains resilient.
"Born to rebel, huh? Ha..." Jee Huiru feels a deep-seated resentment. She knows Bai Luo doesn't like, let alone love, Gu Beixue, yet she still harbors hostility towards her. Jee Huiru is unaware that Gu Beixue has already figured out Bai Luo's true nature.
At the airport, a gentle girl walks alongside a charming, sunny boy.
"Jay, I want to visit a friend now. Would you like to come with me?" Zhou Muqing asks her boyfriend.
"Of course, I'd love to meet your friend," he replies.
"Hello? Bai Luo? I'm back," Zhou Muqing says over the phone.
"Where are you now? Let me pick you up," Bai Luo offers.
"No need, I'll come to your office soon," Zhou Muqing replies.
Bai Luo is unsure how to face this girl who seems so at peace with the world. He once made countless promises to her, and she believed every word, but in the end, he let her down.
At Bai Luo's company:
"Hello, Luo," Zhou Muqing greets with a smile.
Hearing her voice, Bai Luo, busy with work, is taken aback. She's back.
"Hey, Sunny," Bai Luo said.
"Bai Luo? Let me correct you. This is my boyfriend, Jay. From now on, you can call me Muqing or just Zhou. I'm planning to work at your company. If that's not possible, I won't come." Muqing said with a smile, leaving Bai Luo feeling utterly defeated.
"Sure, come if you want. I'll keep calling you Sunny, though. I'm used to it," Bai Luo replied, glancing at the guy next to Muqing. He was handsome and cheerful, unlike Bai Luo, who bore the marks of years in business. Jay seemed more like a cherished family treasure.
"Hi, I'm Jay."
"Bai Luo."
Jee Huiru knew Muqing. She realized her biggest rival wasn't Beixue but this woman who just returned to the country, Muqing. Jee Huiru immediately sent someone to investigate everything about Muqing, including her connection with Bai Luo.
Beixue was still in the dark, but she received a call from Sinian. After hanging up, Beixue realized her only true friend was Sinian. Uncle Huo had once tried to set her up with Sinian.
At noon.
"Hello, Chairman, what's up?" Beixue asked.
"Where are you? Can you come over? I'm not feeling well," the Chairman said weakly.
"Sure, I'll be right there," Beixue replied.
At the hospital.
"Don't worry, you're fine. Just make sure to pick up your medication. Prevention is key," the doctor advised carefully.
"Yes, of course. You're right," Beixue responded respectfully.
After getting the medication, Beixue headed to the restroom.
"Hey, Jay, listen, don't let anything slip. Just play the part of my boyfriend," a voice said.
"Yeah, yeah, got it."
"Alright, relax."
Beixue couldn't believe it. Who pretends to have a boyfriend like that?
Back in the hospital room.
She called Bai Luo, "Bai Luo, I want to meet Qing'er."
"Do you really think I'd let you see her?"
"If you don't, you know I have my ways. Even if I'm not as capable now, I can still manage to see my darling. Just let me have a quick look."
"Heh, alright."
Gu Beixue finally managed to convince Bai Luo. She could finally see her precious little one. Oh, and she wondered if Qing'er needed anything. A trip to the mall seemed like a good idea.
She handed over her responsibilities as the chairperson to her assistant and set off to shop for her beloved child.
At the mall, Gu Beixue was on a mission to find the children's section, still going it alone. Coincidentally, Jee Huiru was also there.
Gu Beixue thought to herself that she should've checked her horoscope before heading out, but for her daughter, she was willing to take the risk.
With confidence, Gu Beixue walked towards the toy section. Jee Huiru thought she was seeing things and took another look. No mistake about it! The children's section meant Bai Luo had agreed to let Gu Beixue see Bai Qing'er.
Jee Huiru sensed the gravity of the situation, but it seemed Gu Beixue was aware too. The chances of Jee Huiru not causing trouble for her were slim to none.
"Hey... Fish," Jee Huiru greeted with a smile.
But Gu Beixue couldn't stand that smile. It was that very smile that had once brought her to her lowest point.
"Mrs. Bai, what a coincidence," Gu Beixue said, still proud.
"What are you picking out here? Need any help?" Jee Huiru offered.
"No, no, Mrs. Bai, enjoy your shopping. I'll be on my way," Gu Beixue replied with disdain.
Oh boy, what a world we live in. Gu Beixue's luck today was truly something else. If she'd known, she would've cursed the heavens. There was supposed to be a battle in the future, a battle of three women, but it seemed to have started early.
Every time, Gu Beixue was caught off guard, but not anymore. After seeing her precious child, she wouldn't retreat or be caught off guard again.
Later, Beixue realized that while the thrill of the wind was exhilarating, it was also damaging, much like a drug.
After picking out the perfect gift, Beixue's only concern was about to be resolved—she was finally going to meet her daughter. Maybe her daughter would even recognize her. Beixue was determined to make a good impression.
In the end, who will be the right person for whom in the journey of life?
Jee Huiru's schemes were ruthless, but they were predictable. The real fear was if she ever turned her malice towards Beixue's daughter. If Bai Luo was around, he generally wouldn't harm or dislike Qing'er on purpose.
Beixue looked up at the sky. If possible, she wanted to take her daughter away. This was Beixue's conviction; she understood the pressure and expectations that came with being part of a wealthy family.
Beixue had come with the intention of taking her princess away, not wanting her to follow Bai Luo and Jee Huiru down a path of destruction.
