C1 Chapter 1
In the deserted outskirts of the city, the ancient trees that supported the sky seemed a little sad. The breeze was blowing and the air was filled with the thick smell of blood. Even the orange setting sun looked like it was dyed in blood.
Corpses littered the ground. There was a hideous expression of pain on his face. The blood on his face had yet to congeal. It could be seen that the fight for his life had just ended.
The uniform attire of the house guards and their different coarse clothes, in addition to the messy surroundings, it was obvious that this was a bandit who unluckily met with a road robbery on the trip of a wealthy family, causing their deaths. This method was too cruel.
"Save …" Save me... Save... "Child …"
A weak and hoarse voice suddenly sounded. It was abnormally obvious in this deathly silent wasteland.
On the side of the sedan, a beautiful woman wearing luxurious clothing laid on the ground. Her face was pale white after losing blood, and the side of her shoulder was dyed a bright red. The drops of blood were mixed in with the yellow baby that was tightly hugging her chest.
The noble woman's gentle face was filled with pain and her eyebrows were knitted tightly. Her bright eyes were filled with anxiety.
In the wilderness, not a single pedestrian would pass by.
The noble lady pursed her lips, carefully putting the child aside. Even though she was severely injured, she did not forget to protect her child. She gritted her teeth and used all her strength to support her weak body, but other than gasping for breath and increasing the pain in her shoulder, she could only powerlessly fall back to the ground.
Was that all she and the child needed?
The noblewoman bit her pale lips with a mournful expression on her face. As she looked at the weak breath of the little child by her side, two streams of clear tears fell down her cheeks uncontrollably.
No... God … Please don't be so cruel... If Retribution... Let her bear the burden by herself … Please let the child live... Please...
Dead silence. Dead silence. After an unknown amount of time, just as she was about to collapse, a handsome young man in a green robe appeared in this blood-stained land.
Maybe the heavens had really heard her inner prayer. The noble woman opened her eyes in joy and looked up at him. She weakly lifted her arm and opened her mouth, "Save …" "Child …"
The moment the taut heartstrings relaxed, the lady fainted.
"Young master."
As the young man's respectful voice sounded out, a boy around ten years old slowly walked out from behind him.
In the face of such a bloody scene, the young and handsome face was completely expressionless, without the slightest bit of fear. Even the eyebrows didn't even furrow, and the dark and deep starry eyes that were like midnight were filled with a coldness that completely didn't match with his age.
Dressed in purple satin robes, he exuded a noble aura. Even though he was still young, he still exuded the aura of a king.
"Uncle Leng, let's go take a look." Her young and clear voice was not the least bit coquettish, revealing a calmness that was different from her age.
"Yes." The young man nodded his head and walked forward. Glancing at the unconscious woman, he squatted down and placed his fingertips on her nose, breathing weakly. He then wrapped her up in his arms and took her into his arms.
"Wuuwaa …" "…"
Perhaps it was because she was protesting against his rudeness, but the child opened her eyes and cried loudly. After seeing that the one hugging her was a stranger, her loud and slightly hoarse cry resounded through the sky.
"This …" The young man was shocked and coaxed, "Good girl …" "Don't cry …"
The boy's elegant brows were furrowed and his lips parted slightly. "So noisy, knock him out."
Right after he finished speaking, the little child acted as if she was opposing him and began to cry with all her might.
The young man lowered his head to look at the little red face in his arms, which was crying so hard that it was about to die. He had a difficult expression on his face.
Knock out a little kid? Furthermore, she was such a weak child. This kind of thing … He couldn't bear it.
He walked to the boy's side and bent down slightly. Then, he simply placed the child into the boy's hands. "Young master, give …"
The young man raised an eyebrow and looked at the little child in interest.
Strangely, the child immediately stopped crying and looked curiously at the boy with her big bright eyes.
The boy subconsciously tightened his arms around the small body in his embrace. Surprise flashed across his eyes. It was because of the soft touch and the faint sweet smell of milk.
"Yiya …" "Yiya …" The little child excitedly waved her small white hands, as if she wanted to grab onto something.
The boy met the pair of round, watery eyes and unconsciously let his hand out to caress the little girl's cheeks. However, he suddenly stopped a second before he touched her.
With a cold expression, he stuffed the baby back into the young man's arms and walked away.
"Ahh …" The child cried in protest.
The young man was dumbfounded as he looked at the boy that left them, "Young Master …" Wasn't the situation just now pretty good?
"What are you guys blanking out for? It's time for us to go back, Uncle Leng."
"Yes." The young man frowned weakly and stared at the child in his arms, who was making noise unconsciously. He took a deep breath and followed the boy.
It was as silent as when they arrived. Very soon, the two of them disappeared and the crying of the little child slowly dissipated in the wind. The only thing left was the slightly whimpering sound of the wind silently mourning this tragic scene …
