C4 Marlboro

On either side of the road was a row of thick, low trees, their tops obscuring the night sky. The moment I stepped inside, I had the impression that I was walking down a long corridor.

The street lamp's light was very dim and yellow, most of it was blocked by tree leaves, thus the light on the entire road was severely lacking and it gave off a very sinister feeling. I couldn't help but feel my nerves tighten, subconsciously wanting to look around everywhere, but remembering the four taboos that Mr. Liu had mentioned, I didn't dare to do so. I immediately lifted my head and puffed out my chest, walking in an unsuitable manner for girls, only daring to stare straight ahead.

After walking a few steps, there was suddenly a gust of cold wind. The leaves above my head rustled in the wind. I unconsciously arched my waist and crossed my arms to warm them.

"Beauty, it's getting cold. Wear more clothes." Suddenly, a man's voice sounded from behind him.

I turned my head to look, but there was nothing there!

My pupils constricted. This … Was this hallucination or something dirty?

Remembering the taboo of not being able to look back, I quickly turned my head away and closed my eyes.

But as soon as the first chant was finished, footsteps came from behind me, getting closer and closer. I was so frightened that I said two more words in one breath, and then immediately opened my eyes and cursed a few f * cking words in my loudest voice.

Just as he finished cursing, the sound of footsteps behind him disappeared.

Looks like Mr Liu's method is really useful. I heaved a sigh of relief and wiped off the cold sweat on my forehead. I puffed out my chest and raised my head before taking eight steps forward.

At this moment, I recalled how the village's old man used to tell me that the dirty things were afraid of the wicked, and I remembered that the wicked people were the type to curse, have a tough face and overbearing attitude. I felt that if I cursed now, taking eight steps would be pretending to be the wicked people.

Then, I stopped thinking about it and focused on walking forward. I didn't pay attention to what was going on around me, thinking that as long as I did so, nothing would happen to me.

However, after walking for about five minutes, I suddenly heard the barking of a dog in front of me. I narrowed my eyes and noticed that it was a little girl with two braids leading a big yellow dog.

Big Yellow was very fierce. He kept barking at me, but it was difficult for the little girl to hold onto his hand.

Why would a little girl walk a dog in the middle of the night? Could it be that this little girl was …

"Big sister, I've never seen you before. Why are you here so late?" The little girl, who was trying her best to stop in the distance with the dog, asked curiously.

She looked pretty cute. She didn't look like a dirty person at all. Furthermore, dirty people should be pretty strong. It shouldn't be that difficult to lead a dog, right?

I must have thought too much about this, as everyone would think that it was something dirty, so I kept on replying, "Big sister came here for a matter. Can I trouble you to take the dog away? Big sister is afraid of dogs."

With a dog in the way, I had to stop or take a detour, but no matter what I did, it was the first taboo.

However, just as he finished his sentence, the little girl's head suddenly disappeared, and the dog disappeared as well. Then, the dog slowly floated over.

My scalp suddenly exploded. I realized that this was a ghost. That big yellow dog was obviously hallucinating, and I broke the fourth and most terrifying taboo. I responded to its words!

I immediately stopped and did the same thing. I closed my eyes and began to mutter under my breath. When I opened my eyes, it was gone.

I was suddenly relieved, but just then, out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of a white shadow beside the tree on my right, and I could feel a pair of sinister eyes staring at me.

It... It didn't leave!

What happened? Could it be that Mr. Liu's method failed?

I tried to calm myself down, but soon I realized that it was just beside me, not coming over. Perhaps it was afraid of something, but it was the result of Mr. Liu's method.

Since that's the case, there's no need to panic. I took a deep breath and continued walking forward.

But with every step I took, it would move with me, as if it didn't want to let me go so easily. It scared me so much that my mind went blank.

Not long after, a crossroad appeared in front of them. It suddenly said in a gloomy voice, "Don't go over there. There's a car."

A car? The intersection was empty, not even a fart.

As the saying goes, a lot of nonsense goes on, and naturally, one cannot believe a lot of nonsense. Thus, I casually walked over.

However, just as I walked into the intersection, countless sounds of horns rang from both sides as though I was walking through an endless stream of roads. My pupils constricted in shock as I subconsciously looked in both directions and realised that there was nothing at all!

Could it be that this ghost had created some sort of hallucination to scare me off?

I think that's the only possibility.

But then I noticed that it wasn't following me, and though I was a little puzzled, that was exactly what I wanted.

I wanted to keep walking, but it was a taboo to look both ways, so I had to stop and curse before I went on. I didn't hear the horn again until I reached the middle of the road, which made me even more convinced that it was a hallucination of a little girl.

After walking past the intersection, I discovered that the road ahead was dark. There were no trees, no street lamps, and no houses. If it wasn't for the faint moonlight, I wouldn't even be able to see my own fingers in front of me.

And the darkness was the most frightening, because we never knew what was in the darkness. The fear of the unknown made my heart jump to my throat, and I only wished that I could smoothly walk the road ahead.

However, the heavens didn't seem to hear my request. At some point, a pair of ice-cold hands rested on my shoulders. When I finally reacted, my legs turned weak and I almost fell down.

"Elder sister, you can't go any further." The little girl's ghostly voice suddenly exploded from behind him.

I didn't expect it to have already caught up. Furthermore, ever since we walked through the intersection, it had been resting its hand on my shoulder and walking with the wind for quite some time. I foolishly thought that it had left.

I didn't know if it would harm me or what it would do to me. All I could do now was to walk forward with my head still blank.

Actually, I really want to pass out to escape from all of this right now, but I can't.

"Sister, stop quickly. We really can't go any further." It sounded again.

Just as he finished his sentence, a beam of light lit up a place not far ahead. As he focused his attention, he realized that it was a villa with bright lights!

"Elder sister, I have to go. You better take care of yourself."

It said this sentence in an inexplicable manner and the cold feeling on its shoulder disappeared.

It seemed that it had finally left. I heaved a sigh of relief as I felt as though I had narrowly escaped death.

As for the fact that it said I can't go any further, I'll just treat it as a bullshit, with my left ear entering and exiting my right ear.

A few minutes later, I walked to the front lawn of the villa. There was a wooden sign next to it that read: 173 Marlboro.

They had finally reached their destination.
