C10 Jealousy

Luo Yi glanced at his watch; it was already 10:30. "It's getting late, so I'll head out now. Don't want to disturb you any longer."

Yang Wanwan watched as his figure stretched under the streetlight, feeling a wave of gratitude. She was thankful he had come to her rescue today; she couldn't bear to imagine what might have happened otherwise.

"Snap out of it," Yeh Beijin said, waving a hand in front of her face, his eyes filled with irritation. For some reason, watching her gaze after another man made him uncomfortable. He wanted her to turn around and see only him, to have his image imprinted in her mind at all times.

And he acted on that impulse. His hands, strong and defined, cupped her cheeks, turning her to face him. As he felt the softness of her skin and caught a hint of her subtle fragrance, he couldn't help but breathe it in deeply.

Feeling the warmth of his hands, Yang Wanwan looked up to meet his intense gaze, her cheeks flushing once again.

"What are you doing?" she asked, her voice soft and sweet like cotton candy, causing Yeh Beijin to momentarily freeze.

The next moment, the man's eyes were as deep as the darkest night. How could just a pair of eyes be so captivating, as if they could pull someone in entirely? Wanwan thought to herself.

Then, the man's words hit her like a cold splash of water, snapping her out of her daydream.

"He already has someone he likes, named Ann Jinse. She's much prettier than you, so I think you should save your effort."

His voice was low and husky, with a hint of something almost hypnotic.

"And which eye of yours saw that I was interested in him?"

Hearing this, Wanwan slapped his hand away, like an angry cat with its claws out, challenging the man in front of her.

Little did she know, in front of the powerful Beijin, she was like a tiny kitten, especially with that soft voice of hers.

"Good, then stay away from him," Beijin said calmly, but his gaze was unyielding.

"Beijin, what do you mean? Tell me clearly, which eye of yours saw that I was interested in her?"

Wanwan felt baffled. She wasn't the type to fall for someone just because they played the hero. Was that really how he saw her?

Her eyes flashed with intense frustration.

To Yeh Beijin, it felt like his secret had been exposed, leaving him embarrassed and angry. A surge of frustration welled up inside him.

"Why are you so upset? Did I hit a nerve?"

"You... you're just impossible!"

Yang Wanwan didn't want to talk to this man anymore. He could twist the truth to suit his own narrative, only believing what he saw and thought, completely disregarding others' perspectives. To him, those didn't matter at all.

Suddenly, Yang Wanwan remembered the man calling her earlier, asking if she was okay. How did he know what happened today? Was he really involved, or...

"Wait, how did you know I was in danger? And why did you call and come to my house?" Yang Wanwan asked, puzzled.

"Who knows what happened today? You said you'd come for the interview but never showed up, and I couldn't reach you by phone. So, I came by to let you know you can start work tomorrow."

"Wow, is that even possible?" Yang Wanwan's earlier disappointment about missing the interview vanished instantly.

However, she didn't notice the man's gaze—complex and hard to decipher, filled with a mix of emotions.

"With me pulling some strings for you, what do you think?" The man raised an eyebrow, a mischievous smile playing on his lips as he looked intently at the petite woman before him.

Yang Wanwan felt a bit embarrassed and lowered her head.

"Hahaha..." A burst of hearty laughter came from Beijin. This woman was just too amusing.

"You're still laughing? Stop it, I said stop laughing..."

Their laughter continued to echo in the quiet night. The dim streetlights stretched their shadows, overlapping to create a dynamic scene.

Meanwhile, the Luo family mansion was brightly lit, welcoming home their young master, Luo Yi, returning from military service.

Upon his return, Luo Yi unexpectedly learned that Ann Jinse was set to marry someone else, igniting his anger. The thought of the woman he cherished marrying another man was something Luo Yi couldn't accept.

At the main house of the Luo family:

"Yi, it's not that I don't want to help you, but this matter is already set in stone and can't be changed," Luo's mother said, seeing the pain and disbelief on her son's face, trying to console him.

"I know you love her, but you must understand that after years in the military, Jinse is not the same person she used to be. Her heart is no longer with you, Yi."

Luo's mother gently patted Luo Yi's shoulder, attempting to comfort her son, but...

"I don't believe it. I'm going to the Ann family to call off the engagement." Luo Yi couldn't care less about the consequences. All he knew was that the woman he loved was about to become another man's bride, and he had to stop it, no matter what...

"Yi, come back here, come back!"

Luo Yi acted as if he hadn't heard his mother's words. He turned and strode away from the house, driving straight to the Ann family at 174 mph.
