C16 The Difference

At noon, Wanwan realized just how intense the pressure could be at a big company. She was assigned to the Design Department, responsible for designing and organizing blueprints, coordinating with partners, and completing design tasks according to plans and requirements. To her surprise, the woman she bumped into in the elevator, Soong Yingying, was in the same department, which was a bit awkward.

However, the company perks were fantastic, especially the cafeteria. It was like a five-star restaurant, offering a buffet-style spread with everything you could imagine. The best part? All the food was free. The selection was diverse, with drinks, dishes, and desserts—a true paradise for food lovers.

Wanwan picked up some sweet and sour ribs, lettuce, scallops with vermicelli, and yam stew with ribs. Wow, what a feast for lunch. Just as she was about to dig in, a male voice interrupted, "Mind if I sit here?"

Looking up, she saw a clean-cut man with gold-rimmed glasses, giving him a scholarly look. Wanwan smiled and said, "Sure, there's plenty of room."

The man sat down with his tray and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Cheng Yu from the Technical Department. And you are?"

"I'm Wanwan from the Design Department. Just call me Wanwan." Since they were colleagues, it was best to establish a good rapport—never know when you might need a favor.

"Cheng Yu, there you are! I've been looking for you for ages."

A woman's voice chimed in right after.

"Her name is Hsu Ya, she's also part of our tech department, my colleague," Cheng Yu introduced.

"Hi, I'm Hsu Ya." The woman carried herself with such poise, leaving Yang Wanwan with a strong first impression.

Everyone exchanged greetings, and soon it felt like a reunion of old friends, with conversations flowing freely.

When the cafeteria was mentioned, Yang Wanwan couldn't help but think it offered great perks.

"Now that's an employee cafeteria. The executives have it even better," Hsu Ya remarked with a hint of envy.

"There are separate cafeterias for employees and VIPs?" Yang Wanwan had never known this.

"Of course! You didn't think they'd eat with us regular employees, did you?" Hsu Ya complained again.

Hearing this, Yang Wanwan's mind drifted to the day Yeh Beijin had ginger tea at her place. He sat at her modest dining table, holding a bowl with an indescribable grace. Truly, he was different from ordinary people.

Come on, Yang Wanwan, have some self-respect. That man has already ignored you, so stop thinking about him.

Yang Wanwan began eating her food with gusto, her cheeks puffed out like a little squirrel indulging in a treat.

"Wanwan, slow down. No one's going to take your food," Cheng Yu gently said to Wanwan, his eyes full of tenderness.

At Ann's home.

"Miss Ann, here are the documents you requested," a man said, holding a yellow manila envelope.

Ann Jinse reached out for the documents, her deep red nails occasionally flipping through the pages. Her beautiful eyes scanned the information her subordinate had brought.

As she read, something caught her attention, and her eyes widened with disbelief. Anger flashed in her gaze, and her expression turned grim.

With a ripping sound, she tore the document in half.

"Yeh Beijin, what do you take me for? It's bad enough you ignore me, but to flaunt our engagement while getting involved with another woman? I need to see what this woman has that I don't."

Ann Jinse, always pampered by her family, had never been treated this way before, and she found the situation hard to accept.

Dressed in a form-fitting wool dress, clearly the latest Givenchy, she revealed her long, slender legs, paired with the season's trendiest knee-high boots, accentuating her slim figure. With a pair of Panison sunglasses perched on her straight nose, Ann Jinse walked into Beirong Group. As she looked at the impressive building, she felt a newfound curiosity about Yeh Beijin.

"Miss, do you have an appointment?" the receptionist politely asked Ann Jinse.

"Just tell your CEO, I'm Ann Jinse." Ann was confident that Beijin, that man, wouldn't refuse her. Even if he disagreed with the marriage, it was a decision made by the family leaders. Besides, with his reputation for being cold and decisive, if he truly wanted to call off the engagement, he wouldn't waste time on pleasantries.

"Well..." The receptionist hesitated, noting the woman's designer outfit and innate air of confidence, unsure of what to do.

Eventually, she decided to follow Ann's instructions.

"Miss, you can go up. The CEO is on the 56th floor." The receptionist was relieved that her gamble paid off, exhaling a sigh of relief.

After Ann left, the receptionist watched her retreating figure, lost in thought. The CEO was known for not having women around him, so why now...

Ann made her way to the top floor, the 56th, where the CEO's office was located.

"Miss, please go in. The CEO is inside," Ye Yuan gestured invitingly.

As she entered, Ann saw the man at the desk, working. He wore a high-end white shirt, exuding a casual yet confident aura. The sleeves were slightly rolled up, and his every move carried the charm of a mature man. A black suit jacket was draped over the back of the swivel chair, emanating an air of cool elegance.

They say a man who's focused is the most attractive, and Ann Jinse found this to be quite true. Her heart was completely captivated by a man named Beijin.

"Beijin, you sure know how to make an impression, don't you? Since you're such a busy guy, I don't mind taking some time to come see you," Ann suddenly spoke up. She removed her sunglasses, revealing her captivating eyes, and a charming smile spread across her fair face.
