"Why are you here? I don't have the time to chat with you. Just tell me your purpose." Beijin was never known for his patience with women, though he seemed to forget how many of his own rules he broke for Wanwan.
Hearing his impatient tone, even Ann, who had a bit of a crush on him, felt completely deflated.
"Beijin, do you realize I'm your fiancée? Is this how you treat me?"
Ann was genuinely upset. She had never been let down by any other man like this. Despite her repeated attempts to lower her pride, he still didn't appreciate it.
"Miss Ann, you seem to have misunderstood something. I've never acknowledged you as my fiancée." He couldn't even be bothered to look at her, speaking as if discussing something entirely unrelated to him.
As Ann stepped closer, she noticed his eyes were a striking amber, like a rare gemstone. When he suddenly stood up, their eyes met, and she felt drawn into the depths of his gaze, like a whirlpool she couldn't escape.
Initially, Ann had intended to break off the engagement after reviewing the information she had. But now, she had a change of heart. Conquering a man with such charisma would surely be a rewarding challenge.
"Ha, didn't they agree on this from the start? Do you really think you have the right to decide your own marriage?" Ann Jinse remarked with a hint of sarcasm as she addressed the man.
"Her decision doesn't affect me," the man replied in a casual tone. Yet, it was precisely this nonchalance that revealed his arrogance and untamed spirit, as if nothing could sway his decisions—not even the family leaders had that privilege.
Yeh Beijin exuded a wild aura, like a king among wolves, powerful and proud, as if no one could catch his eye.
Well, almost no one. There was one person—Yang Wanwan.
"Yeh Beijin, you're too full of yourself..." Ann Jinse chuckled, as if she couldn't believe he had the ability to change his circumstances.
"Full of myself? I don't mind using a few unconventional methods to achieve my goals," Yeh Beijin scoffed.
Looking at his face, Ann Jinse felt a wave of anxiety. She had been in a slump for a while, falling into a downward spiral. She had been with several men, and if she could erase any memory, it would be this shameful chapter of her life.
"What are you planning to do?" Ann Jinse's voice trembled as she spoke, her hands clenched tightly at her sides.
"What's the matter, Miss Ann? Feeling anxious already?" Beijin asked nonchalantly, seemingly oblivious to the woman's expression.
In the elevator, Wanwan felt a bit uneasy, her heart racing unpredictably. Why did she have the bad luck of being assigned to deliver the blueprints to the CEO?
Thinking back to Soong Yingying's furious expression, as if she wanted to snatch the blueprints away, Wanwan felt exhausted. She had no interest or energy for this task, while others seemed eager and capable. Shouldn't those eager and capable people be the ones to go?
Oh, it seemed like this floor was deserted. Not a soul in sight. With so many rooms, which one was it? Wanwan checked each door sign. Ah, here it is, no doubt.
But she thought she heard voices, a woman’s voice, coming from inside. Could there be a woman in the CEO's office? Maybe she should wait a bit before going in to avoid any awkwardness. Just as Wanwan was about to leave, she heard her name mentioned.
What? Could it be about her? Should she eavesdrop or eavesdrop or... eavesdrop?
"Mr. Beijin, what do you think of Miss Yang Wanwan? After all, she's just an ordinary person. If she were to get involved with the heir of the Yeh Beijin family, the head of the Beirong Group, what would happen?" Ann Jinse's tone held a hint of displeasure.
"Miss Ann, are you threatening me?" Beijin asked, completely unfazed, his tone as casual as if they were merely chatting.
"It's just a one-time thing. Do you think I care? But you, Miss Ann, seem to have quite a few flings, don't you?"
"Beijin, you're ruthless!" Ann Jinse's face turned pale, her expression tightening as if he'd struck a nerve.
With that, unable to bear it any longer, Ann Jinse stormed out of the office, her high boots echoing with each step.
Rushing to the restroom, Wanwan's mind replayed the man's cold, heartless words.
It's just a one-time thing. Do you think I care?
Yeah, it was just a one-time thing, nothing significant. Just losing a piece of innocence. He only gave you this job out of pity, so why does it hurt so much? It felt like her heart was being squeezed, the pain spreading throughout her body. Her nose tingled with the threat of tears. She wasn't usually this fragile, so why did it hurt so much?
As a child, she had dreamed of a man who would truly love her, become her husband, and share a life of simple, enduring happiness. But his words were like a sharp sword, shattering her beautiful fantasy, dismissing her dreams with disdain and even mockery.
The executive office. A man stood by the large desk, seemingly waiting for instructions from the boss.
"Mr. Liang, you'd better remember whose side you're on." Beijin gave Mr. Liang a brief glance, a look that sent a shiver down his spine. The boss's insight was as sharp as ever.
Today, Mr. Liang had taken it upon himself to let Ann Jinse in because the lady of the house had said, "From now on, Ann Jinse is the young master's fiancée." Since she was the boss's fiancée, he had instructed the reception to allow her through.
"Boss, it was the lady who..." Mr. Liang tried to explain himself.
"Out." Before he could finish, Beijin dismissed him outright.
Mr. Liang felt truly aggrieved. How was he supposed to know that Beijin disliked his fiancée so much? He was just following orders...
