C4 A Punishment Kiss
"The food's getting cold. Why aren't you two eating?" She placed the fruit in front of Beijin. "Make yourself at home."
Watching them, Wanwan felt a headache coming on, but Beijin didn't stand on ceremony with Mother Yang.
"What do you usually do at home?" Beijin asked.
"I take care of Wanwan's father and Wanwan," Mother Yang replied with a gentle smile. "I'm just a housewife, nothing special."
Beijin nodded. "Have you always lived here?"
"No, we moved here twenty years ago."
"Were you and your husband childhood sweethearts?" Beijin glanced quickly at Mother Yang, almost imperceptibly.
Mother Yang paused, surprised by the question.
"Alright, you've finished eating, and it's getting late. Time to go," Wanwan said, pulling Beijin up and nudging him toward the door. "Mom, I'll walk him out."
Once outside, Wanwan's expression fell.
She stopped, crossed her arms, and looked at Beijin. "You were drugged that day. I know that, but it doesn't mean I can forgive what you did. Seeing you makes me uncomfortable."
After a pause, Wanwan continued, "So I hope you won't come around anymore."
"You can't stand me?" Beijin frowned.
Wanwan opened her mouth, then closed it, thinking for a moment before speaking earnestly, "It's not that I can't stand you. It's just that seeing you reminds me of bad memories, so I don't want to see you."
Yeh Beijin was silent for a long moment before suddenly reaching out to gently grasp Wanwan's chin, leaning in close.
"Alright, see you."
With those words, he bit her lip as if in punishment. Wanwan was startled, trying to pull away, but he held her firmly, her head unable to move. A flush quickly spread across her cheeks, gradually reaching her ears. Beijin let out a long sigh in his mind, delving deeper, drawing in her breath.
Meanwhile, at the Yeh family estate, Mother Yeh had already learned of his visit to the Yang family. The porcelain on the table was swept to the floor in a fit of rage. Her face, bearing a striking resemblance to Beijin's, twisted with fury as she stomped on the shattered pieces.
"Knowing full well I despise that woman, yet he still went to the Yangs? He's clearly smitten with that girl!"
Taking a deep breath, she commanded, "Get the car ready. I want to see just what kind of charm this girl has to steal my son's heart."
When Beijin returned to his villa, he was met with Mother Yeh's wrath.
"Mom, what are you doing here?" he asked, exhausted, loosening his tie and casting a surprised glance at her.
His relaxed demeanor pushed Mother Yeh's irritation to its peak.
"Do you seriously have the nerve to ask why I'm here?"
Beijin frowned, "If you have something to say, just say it."
"Alright, I'll be straightforward." Mother Yeh patted the spot next to her, motioning for Beijin to sit down.
Beijin glanced over, then silently walked over and sat down.
"Did you meet that woman?" Mother Yeh asked sternly.
A flicker of surprise crossed Beijin's amber eyes as he leaned back on the couch. "How did you know?"
On second thought, he realized it was a pointless question. "You had someone follow me."
"When you ask them to dig into a girl's background, do you think they wouldn't report it to me?" Mother Yeh said angrily. "Don't change the subject. Did you meet her?"
"Yes," Beijin admitted openly, "and she's pretty much as you described."
Mother Yeh snorted but said nothing.
"Looks like I need to teach these people my rules," Beijin said, removing his watch and fiddling with it.
"I know you're upset they shared your information," Mother Yeh replied, "but I'm not just anyone—I'm your mother."
Beijin remained noncommittal.
Mother Yeh continued, "You know very well about the situation between me and that woman. You're not allowed to get close to anyone associated with her!"
"I didn't get close," Beijin said calmly.
"Do you think I don't understand my own son?" Mother Yeh replied, displeased. "You've already had someone look into her background, which means you're interested in her. Don't deny it."
Beijin paused his actions for a moment before explaining, "I'm just curious. Once I found out whose daughter she is, I lost interest."
Mother Yeh wasn't entirely convinced, but she didn't completely doubt him either.
"You better not be interested. By the way, you're not getting any younger. I've been keeping an eye out and found someone for you to meet."
Hearing this, Beijin raised an eyebrow, his watch resuming its ticking.
"A blind date?"
"You could call it that," Mother Yeh admitted.
"Do I need a blind date?" Beijin was surprised. "There are plenty of people waiting to be your daughter-in-law."
Mother Yeh replied, "But they need to be a good match."
With that, she pulled a photo from her bag and handed it to Beijin. "This girl is Ann Jinse. She's six years younger than you, has dual master's degrees from abroad, and just returned recently. Her family is wealthy and influential. She's the most sought-after young woman in political circles."
Beijin glanced at the photo, his gaze lingering on the man behind Ann Jinse. In a military uniform, with striking features, he exuded a clean and sharp aura. In the photo, his eyes seemed to be subtly watching Ann Jinse, filled with joy and happiness.
"Who is this guy?" Beijin slightly raised his chin.
Mother Yeh glanced at the photo and casually said, "He's her childhood friend."
Beijin replied, "Then there's no need to meet him. Someone who might have divided loyalties in the future isn't worth the trouble."
"Is this about Wanwan?" Mother Yeh slammed the photo onto the table, her voice cold and harsh. "Have you fallen for that woman's daughter?!"
"No," Beijin felt a headache coming on and stood up. "I'm tired. I'm going to rest."
"You have a thing for that little brat!" Mother Yeh's face turned red with anger, and she couldn't hold back her words.
Beijin frowned and turned around. "Even if you hate that woman, what does that have to do with Wanwan? Is it right to harshly insult an innocent person?"
His tone was icy, and without waiting for a response, he walked away.
Watching her son's resolute back, Mother Yeh felt her heart sink to the bottom. He must be in love with that Yang Wanwan... A heavy sense of crisis swept over her.
No, she had to stop this!
