C13 Police Station

"Commander, reporting for duty! Soldier Number 0001 is present!" The American soldier's introduction echoed the mobilization call of the troops.

Caught off guard, Han Feng was jolted by the American soldier's sudden presence. Once he collected himself, he took a closer look.

Clad in military green camo, topped with a bulletproof helmet, and sporting a HE Grenade on his vest, he was the picture of readiness. A military knife was strapped to his boots, an M9 pistol hung from his tactical belt, and most notably, he wielded an M60 machine gun.

"Tell me about yourself," Han Feng instructed after inspecting the soldier.

"Sir, yes sir! The HE Grenade operates with shrapnel and steel balls, effective up to thirty meters. The M9 pistol fires 9mm rounds, holds fifteen in the magazine, plus one spare. The M60 machine gun uses 7.62mm rounds, with a capacity of 120, and does not come with extra magazines. The military knife is crafted from AST-34 steel, designed for hand-to-hand combat. That concludes my introduction, sir!" Having finished, the American soldier stood stock-still.

Han Feng was astounded by the briefing. The five hundred gold coins spent were a bargain! The pistol alone matched the AK47's round count of the mobilized troops, not to mention the formidable machine gun in the American soldier's possession!

Though not as bulky as the mobilized troops, the American soldier's lean physique and superior gear outclassed them. Underneath the helmet was a face with a distinctly foreign allure – fitting for someone dubbed an American soldier.

But what set him apart the most were his eyes, more perceptive than those of the mobilized troops. Even while motionless, his gaze vigilantly scanned the surroundings – a quality the mobilized soldiers lacked.

This meant the American soldier possessed a sense of combat awareness!

This was indeed excellent news. As a novice commander, Han Feng was not versed in strategy, but with an American soldier capable of independent combat thinking, he had just gained a valuable asset to help lead the fight.

"From now on, just call me Captain Han, not commander. And you, you'll go by Wynne, got it?" Han Feng instructed the American soldier and christened him with a new name.

"Yes, Captain Han!" the American soldier responded promptly.

With the battle over, Han Feng gestured to the trio and they all headed back to the villa.

"Boss Han! You're back! Thank goodness, are you okay?" Liu Rui rose to greet Han Feng as he entered.

"I'm fine. Meet Wynne," Han Feng said, introducing the American soldier.

"Wow, cool! Is he military? Did the military come to rescue us?" Wei Peng approached Wynne, looking him over with curiosity.

"He's here with the Winter Soldier to keep us safe," Han Feng explained with a smile.

Wei Peng bombarded him with questions about his arrival, but Han Feng just smiled, offering no answers.

Unlike Wei Peng, Liu Rui and Wai Yun were less inquisitive, understanding that Han Feng wasn't one for explanations.

All they needed to know was that the more fighters by Han Feng's side, the more secure they would be.

"Oh, there's still food in the pot! Let's get ready to eat, everyone," Wai Yun suddenly remembered the meal she had prepared and headed to the kitchen to serve it up.

"Could you three clear the zombies from around here? Toss them far away, better yet, burn them," Han Feng instructed, recalling the pile of remains at the entrance.

Wai Yun's culinary skills did not disappoint; the delicious aroma of the meal whetted Han Feng's appetite considerably.

After the meal, it was time to rest.

As the night before, two conscripted soldiers and the American soldier took turns standing guard on the first floor.

The Wei siblings, along with Han Feng and Liu Rui, settled in for the night on the second floor. The villa's numerous rooms were a blessing, accommodating everyone comfortably.

Han Feng watched Liu Rui sleeping peacefully beside him and sank into contemplation.

"Fast? Could it be... an evolver?" Han Feng mused to himself.

He recalled the Resident Evil film series, where the protagonist, infected with the T-virus, didn't become a zombie but instead developed superhuman abilities.

Could Wai Peng be the same?

Wai Peng's running speed was certainly not that of an average person.

But where did this evolutionary ability come from? Could my Red Alert System be considered a superpower too?

Han Feng mulled over this for quite some time without any leads, so he decided to consult the Red Alert System directly.

"Do people develop superpowers after the zombie virus outbreak? Is the Red Alert System a superpower too?" Han Feng inquired within his mind.

"The Red Alert System is not a superpower. The system cannot address the commander's additional questions at this time. Please construct a radar, commander. With an upgraded authorization, the system will be able to answer more of your inquiries," the mechanical voice responded in Han Feng's thoughts.

Insufficient authorization? Sigh... It looked like he needed to accelerate the radar construction. At the moment, his authority was at the bare minimum, allowing him nothing more than the summoning of soldiers. Han Feng brooded over this and turned his attention to his gold coins.

106 gold coins...

He was a long way off from the 5,000 gold coin goal. Han Feng furrowed his brow in thought.

"Summon mobilization soldiers. Confirm," Han Feng instructed the system mentally.

"Summoning mobilization soldiers for 20 seconds. Please wait," the system intoned, initiating the summoning process.

Once the progress bar filled, footsteps ascending the stairs could be heard from outside.

Han Feng opened the door to greet the newly summoned soldier, gesturing for silence to indicate that the mobilization soldier should remain quiet.

The soldier didn't utter the customary introduction but saluted nonetheless.

"From now on, you'll address me as Captain Han, and your name will be Number Two," Han Feng quickly established the mobilized soldier's designation.

"Understood," the soldier responded.

"Head downstairs and join the others on watch for now," Han Feng instructed, turning back into his room before the soldier could reply.

Seated once more, Han Feng massaged his temples.

Six gold coins... He was broke...

Why the rush to bolster his forces? Han Feng had a strategy in mind.

It was time to start farming gold coins!

Hours passed...

"Wow! Sis, check it out! We've got another bodyguard!" Wai Peng's voice echoed from downstairs.

"Number One, step forward!" Han Feng's command resonated from the second-floor staircase.

"Present!" One of the mobilized soldiers called out, stepping forward to approach Han Feng.

With the Wei siblings watching, Han Feng spoke up. "You're now in charge of the villa's security. Do not fire unless it's an emergency. In my absence, Liu Rui and Wai Yun will temporarily assume command. Understood?"

"Yes, Captain Han," the soldier responded, snapping to attention with another salute.

"Wai Yun, meet Number One. He'll be in charge of your protection when I'm away," Han Feng said, turning to Wai Yun.

Before Wai Yun could respond, Wai Peng piped up, "What about me, brother-in-law?!"

...

"Quit your yapping, you little rascal!" Wai Yun retorted, her face flushing as she playfully lunged at Wai Peng.

Laughter filled the first floor, warming Han Feng's heart as he watched the siblings' playful chase.

Such moments of joy were a rare find in the apocalypse.

Later, as Liu Rui descended the stairs, freshly awakened, Han Feng called Number One over to reconfirm the chain of command.

Han Feng mused, 'Everything should be foolproof now, right? If only I had more gold coins to summon additional soldiers, I wouldn't have to be so cautious.'

He borrowed a backpack from Liu Rui, slinging it over his shoulders for convenience during his outings.

After issuing a few brief orders, Han Feng departed the villa with two mobilized soldiers and an American soldier in tow.

Before setting off, he reclaimed the HE Grenade from Wai Yun. With Number One on the premises, safety was assured.

Driving the Hummer, Han Feng noted it wasn't as speedy as Liu Rui's driving, but it was roadworthy.

The absence of traffic police in the apocalypse was a small blessing.

Han Feng's plan was straightforward: clear out the surrounding zombies and gradually build up his gold coin stash. With his air nailer in hand, he was ready.

Since Liu Rui's villa was situated far from the city center, the area was thankfully sparse with zombies.

Starting in the afternoon, Han Feng began his assault on the zombies.

"Wynne, stay alert! Winter Soldier, Number Two, on me!" Han Feng had issued this command countless times throughout the afternoon.

He had chosen the police station as the primary location to farm for gold coins.

After considering the morning's battle, Han Feng realized that the two mobilized soldiers had used up all their ammo. Wynne's machine gun was down to just over 90 rounds, and with the handgun bullets, they had a mere 130 rounds in total.

The residents of the villa were unarmed, save for a fire axe.

Wynne kept watch on the ground floor while Han Feng, accompanied by Winter Soldier and Number Two, stormed the police station.
