C2 CHAPTER 2

Danielle had been in the hospital two days before her delivery because her delivery date has been calculated by Nikki. Danielle was praying in heart for safe delivery. Doctor Nikki came inside and said, “It's time to go into the labor room.” Then she touched her hands saying, “You don't have to panic okay, just do what we tell you to.” Danielle nodded and was whisked to the labor room.

Nikki came into the labor room after a while with some series of doctors and gynecologists with some nurses. They set all instruments and machines ready. Nikki wore her hair mask, nose mask and a pair of gloves along with the other specialists in the room.

Danielle tapped Nikki and said, “Can you please call Dominic, he is supposed to be here.”

Nikki nodded and placed a call to Dominic

“Hello Mr Thompson.”

“Hello Doctor, is it time for Danielle's delivery?”

“Yes sir, that's why I'm calling you. You have to hurry, she really needs you to be here with her.”

“Alright...I'll be there soon.”

Nikki cut the call and said, “He'll be here soon Danielle. Don't worry, you'll be fine.” Danielle nodded and laid down well.

Dominic came in some time later. He also wore a hair cover and a nose mask. He was wearing a blue theater cloth. He ran over to Danielle and hugged her saying, “I'm here now.” Danielle wiped the tears from her eyes and held his hands.

Nikki came in and said, “It's time.” Then she positioned the specialist where they were supposed to be. She came in front where Danielle's legs were already raised and apart saying, “There's only one thing I need you to do for me Danielle and that's to push. We have to hurry cause we are bringing out two kids okay.”

Danielle nodded as she held Dominic's hand.

Then Nikki yelled, “Push!!”

Danielle screamed as she pushed. “Push!!”

Danielle pushed harder again. The grip of her hand against Dominic was so tight as she pushed more harder. She pushed once again and Nikki brought out the first baby and gave it to the nurse. Nikki continued, “You can do this Danielle, just one more...come on.”

Danielle was panting hard and was already sweating as she grinned her teeth together and pushed harder. She pushed more harder as Nikki yelled, “Push!!...come on you are almost there.” Danielle slammed her head on the pillow and pushed harder until the second child was brought out.

Danielle sighed deeply and Dominic looked at her whispering, “You did it Danielle.” Danielle sighed as she panted slowly saying, “Yes I did.”

Nikki removed her gloves and said, “Congratulations Danielle, you did it and congratulations to you too Dominic.”

The twins were brought to Danielle and Nikki asked, “Have you thought of a name?”

Danielle held her children and said, “Yes I have....Olivia.” Then she faced the other child at her left hand side. “And Anna.”



Dominic looked at the children and asked, “Nikki I have a gift for them. It's a necklace, an inscribed necklace for my children and I would love to wear it for them.”

Nikki nodded and said, “That is so nice but it can't happen because they are just kids and things like that can affect their skin. I can plant it on their baby wrap right now if you don't mind.”

Dominic nodded and Nikki planted the necklaces on the Babies. Then she looked at Dominic and said, “Do the honors.”

Dominic smiled and took the kids and smiled at them saying, “You are the best gift that I have ever received.”



Danielle was transferred into a VIP ward and Dominic stayed with her. Nikki came in, examined Danielle and said, “Well, you are quite okay now. You just need some rest. A long one.”

Danielle smiled and asked, “Where are my daughters? Won't they be here with me tonight?”

Nikki removed her stethoscope from her neck saying, “Well, your daughters need to have a peaceful rest just for the first night after birth, they would be with you tomorrow.”

Danielle sat up. “Can I at least see them right now? I miss them.”

Dominic pushed her back to lay down and said, “Don't worry Danielle, they would be fine. It's just a few hours.”

Danielle nodded and drifted to sleep as Nikki left the room. Dominic lay down on the couch and slept off to.

That same night, the nurse who was in charge of looking at new born babies was making sure that the heat was enough when the janitor who was on night duty came in to clean the place.

The nurse whose name was Grace said, “You have to be careful Gary, so as not to wake the kids....remember they are so young.”

Gary set aside his broom quietly and said, “Yes, I guess I'll just mop instead....and I think you should wait here just in case any of them wakes up.”

Grace nodded and waited with Gary as he cleaned. Nikki came in some minutes later to check on the Thompsons kids. She lowered her voice saying, “Hurry up and leave there Gary....I wouldn't want you waking up the kids.” Then she left. Once Gary was through, Grace set up the dim light and left with Gary.

It was twelve o'clock in the morning (12am) when the door to the babies room opened slowly. The person was wearing a janitors outfit and had a mask on their face. It was a man. He moved towards the Thompsons babies and carefully carried one of them up. He carried Anna. He smiled and left immediately.

The next morning, Danielle was just waking up when Nikki came in. Nikki administered some tests on her and nodded. She wrote some things down in her file and said, “Good.”

Danielle sat up and asked, “Can I see my daughters now? I want to be the first person they see when they wake up.”

Nikki laughed and said, “Luckily for you, no one has entered into the babies room...so let's go.”

Then all of them left to the babies room.

Danielle rushed in to carry them only to discover that Olivia was the only one. Dominic was speaking to Nikki outside when Danielle ran out crying, “Where's Anna?”

Nikki went inside and found only one child. She was shocked. Danielle looked around and asked, “Where is my daughter? Where is Anna?"
