C4 My Husband

Maria:

The next morning, I woke up and couldn’t find Daniel in the room. Where could he have probably gone this early morning? After pacing around the large room, I decided to wash myself. I pulled my nightie over my head and tied a little towel I had found in the closet on my chest.

I opened the bathroom door, I felt a very strong chest hit my face hard as I stumbled upon the body. “Ouch, ouch, ouch.” I winced. “Hey! Why didn't you lock the door, how would I have known you were still in there.” I complained.

Daniel didn't reply to me but just stared at me with a huge frown on his face. Excuse me, wasn't I supposed to be the one to get angry? “You're too close, don't start what you can't finish.” He said coldly.

I'm too close? What is he saying? “I don't-” Oh gosh, what was I feeling almost between my legs! Tell me that's not what I am thinking, please tell me that's not what I am thinking. “Oh my God!”. I was too embarrassed to look Daniel in the eyes.

He wrapped his arms around me. And I lost my breath. I could feel my cheeks had already flushed red. I quickly arranged myself and held my towel firmly to my chest, shutting the door behind him. “Oh jeez, what could get any more wrong today!” I thought.

Wiping the sweat that had already formed on my forehead, I walked directly to the bathtub, I found a few body soap and lotion. I caught the alluring mint scent of Daniel. “So this is what he uses to scent so good, huh?” I gently applied a few to my body and dipped myself into the bathtub reminiscing my early encounter with Daniel.

I couldn't get over it, was I really on top of Daniel’s body? Thinking about it all only made me look foolish. It was my first day as a married woman and I needed to be at my very best not to say I was quite famished.

I washed my body and applied some of Daniel’s body lotion because I couldn't get over the amazing scent. I brushed my Brown hair and tied it to a ponytail and stepped out of the bathroom holding my breath.

Luckily, Daniel wasn’t in the room and I couldn't be happier. In no time, I was already in a nice little flower dress that fitted my body exquisitely. As soon as I was done, There was a knock on the door. It couldn't be Daniel because this was his room and he didn't have to knock.

“Please who is it?” I sweetly asked.

“Madam Maria.”

I recognized the voice to be the woman from yesterday, the middle-aged maid who had given me herbal tea. I rushed to open the door. “Good morning madam. I hope you had a magnificent beauty sleep,” she asked.

I sighed. “Good morning to you too and Yes, yes I did,” I replied.

“Great, if I may, your breakfast has been served in the dining room. Mr Thompson has also requested you come down immediately as he doesn't like to be kept waiting during breakfast.” She explained.

“Oh yes, I'm all set sorry for the delay.” I pleaded and made my way out of the room. “Shall we?” I urged.

“Yes ma'am.”

We got to the dining room and the aroma of the food filled the entire room. I searched the room and my eyes caught the alluring figure of Daniel. He looked so hot with his shirt open.

“Took you long enough. Breakfast is served exactly at seven and I don't like to be kept waiting.” He said, with a straight face.

“Okay, I'm sorry,” I mumbled.

I waited till he sat down before I did. He poured himself a glass of juice and the maid helped with the meal. “I will be coming home late today, so don't wait up.” My body ran chilly. Okay, do I have to reply to that? Why was he telling me?

Wait a minute! Was he going to meet another woman? My blood stirred with a thousand rages. Why was I angry? Not that my opinion in his life mattered. But I had a million questions to ask him.

Daniel gently stood up and walked out of the dining table, “Uhm Daniel I will be going to the wedding dress store to return my wedding dress,” I said stopping him.

He slightly turned his head in my direction. “Huh? Why? So you didn't even buy the dress. I thought your family was rich. Your father couldn't even get you a wedding dress.” He asked curiously.

I felt uneasy. “Well you know, it's wasteful to just buy an expensive dress and only wear it once and the wedding was impromptu.” I defended myself.

“Uhm.” He whispered.

I watched him till he left the room without saying another word to me. In a few seconds, he was out of sight. “Madam, Mr.Thompson is usually this way you will get used to it and most times he takes weeks to return home. If only he had something to make him stay home.” Sarah said.

I was too clouded in my mind to reply to her because I had double feelings on how to feel. He being away should make the job very easy right?

I angrily finished my breakfast and offered to help Sarah with the cleaning but she respectfully declined. There was nothing left to do so I went back to the room to finish unpacking and left for the store.

I walked to the store and I could feel people looking at me. Yes, I was the trending topic in the state. I had just gotten married to Daniel Thompson, so everyone was keenly watching me.

I heard mumbles all around me but I chose not to pay any attention to them. “Hello, please I am here to return the wedding dress I rented earlier this week,” I said to the lady who worked in the store.

She glanced at me and continued with her phone. I cleared my throat hoping to get her attention. “Yes, and you are?” She asked. “Maria Falcon… Sorry Maria Thompson.” I corrected it.

She dropped her phone and quickly took the box where I had kept the dress and inspected it, her facial expression changed into a frown. “Excuse me, madam, the wedding dress is torn. Didn’t you see this before bringing it back?!” She fired angrily.

Oh God! It must have been while I was trying to climb over the gate, I remembered. “ I am so so sorry, I didn't realize it.”

“Well, we gave you without any issues on the dress and the shoe, so according to the store policy you'll have to pay a sum of five hundred dollars for the damages you caused.” She explained folding her arms firmly to her chest.

“Five hundred dollars! I can't afford that for just a dress I didn't even wear for up to twenty-four hours.” I pleaded.

“Oh, my goodness, you have no money and you went on planning a wedding and getting married! Don't you have a life, lady?” She asked rhetorically, now attracting a lot of attention to me in the store.

Seeing how everyone's attention fell on me to the extent that they had started pulling out their phones to video the scene that was going on broke me into a thousand pieces. “Please lower your voice we can talk about this more maturely. You don't have to make a scene.” I begged almost on my knees.

She laughed so hard. “Imagine how much money and publicity I am going to get when everyone posts this online. The Infamous Daniel Thompson newly wedded wife is renting her wedding dress and can't afford to pay for the damages she caused to the things she rented. Hashtag loser couples.”

Just then I heard a familiar voice behind me. “What's going on here?” I turned only to see that it was Daniel approaching our direction. How did he get here?

Now more people are recording. I couldn't speak, I only wore teary eyes. “I was just trying to return the rentals—”

She immediately cut me off and spoke to Daniel. “The rentals you obviously damaged Madam! Sir, this lady here rented a wedding dress and shoes from this store and returned them damaged beyond repair. According to the store policy, she has to pay five hundred dollars for the payment and now she's refusing to pay it up.”

I noticed she was acting all sexy and sweet to Daniel while she spoke. Was it because of his looks? My blood boiled, this woman was humiliating me in front of everyone and still had the guts to be all over my husband.

“I didn't know it was damaged, it was just a little torn.” I defended myself.

She gasped, holding her mouth. “Oh you damn liar, she literally tore the entire gown to shreds. You destroyed a wedding dress that your husband can not even afford to get for you for your wedding day. ”

“There's no need for calling her names, I'll pay for the damage.” Daniel brought out his card and handed it over to her.

She collected the card and licked her lips. “You're not ashamed of yourself lady, you can see another man is paying for your damage. So much for a husband you claim to marry.” She turned to Daniel. “What's the name so I can fill it in the register, Sir?”

“My name is Daniel Thompson and I am her husband.”
