C16 The Incident at the Parentteacher Conference(2)

Lu Zihann's parents? What a small world – I never expected them to be in the same class as our child. But what's this woman's connection to the Lu family? Why is she attending the parent-teacher conference?" Mrs. Guo mused, puzzled.

"I'm acquainted with Lin Manyin. A quick call to her should clear things up," said the short-haired woman, pulling out her phone and dialing.

"Manyin, are you at the parent-teacher conference today?" she asked after exchanging pleasantries.

"I'm at the beauty salon; I don't have time for a parent-teacher conference," Lin Manyin replied, her voice laced with irritation.

"Then who's the woman hosting Zihann's parent-teacher conference?" Lin Manyin recalled the recent troubles Su Rann had caused her, and a sly smile crept across her face.

"Oh, that woman? She's probably our family's new maid. I'm not entirely sure of the specifics," she said casually.

The short-haired woman switched her phone to speaker mode. "Got it. How about we go shopping together soon?"

Mrs. Guo had overheard their entire conversation. "So she's a servant of the Lu family. No wonder her attire seemed so plain. Haha..." The two women exchanged knowing glances and entered the classroom.

Su Rann was seated in front of them. As they passed by, they looked down on her with contempt. So she was a servant of the Lu family, which explained her audacious demeanor. It seemed she was really playing the part of the lady of the house today!

Being a fresh face in the room, Su Rann had already drawn the attention of several men as she entered the classroom. Her simple attire contrasted with her delicate features, which kept many men's eyes lingering on her.

"I wonder where she got that face done? She must have invested all her money into her looks to catch the eyes of these men!"

"Exactly. Isn't it clear why a mere servant would attend a parent-teacher conference? She's obviously aiming to charm wealthy men," they whispered among themselves.

Mrs. Guo's envy was palpable as she watched the men gaze at Su Rann. Why should a servant overshadow them?

"The focus of today's parent-teacher conference is not only the students' midterm exams but also to discuss the upcoming summer camp with the parents," announced the teacher.

The teacher offered a sycophantic smile.

"We discussed the summer camp last time, didn't we? I've agreed to sponsor all the students' clothing," the short-haired woman stated.

"The Guo family will cover all the amusement equipment."

"We'll take care of all the students' beverages!"

"…"

One by one, many people chimed in with their support.

"Parent of Lu Zihann, what will your family sponsor?"

Mrs. Guo asked, clearly aiming to embarrass the woman.

She thought to herself, 'She's nothing but a servant. What right does she have to stand among us? She must learn that there are circles she'll never be able to enter!'

All eyes turned to Su Rann.

"Ms. Zhao, is there anything else that needs sponsorship?" Mrs. Guo inquired, her lips curled in a triumphant grin.

"As of now, we've got all the everyday items covered. The real challenge, however, is getting approval for the plot of land we've selected," Ms. Zhao explained.

It was common knowledge that even the principal's direct involvement hadn't been enough to settle the matter. They were all at a loss.

"I've heard that the Lu family holds considerable influence in Lan City. Perhaps this issue should be entrusted to them?"

"Exactly. Each of us has contributed what we can. Surely the Lu family isn't going to sit this one out?" the short-haired woman added, supporting the idea.
