C31 Lin Manyin Was Defeated

Many people were eagerly anticipating the unfolding drama, well aware that Linda was a favored confidant of Manager Lin within Group D.

Today, she had purposefully sought out Su Rann, and her tone made it clear that she was anything but friendly.

Chi Xin watched the interaction between Linda and Su Rann with the anticipation of someone ready to enjoy a spectacle.

Upon hearing Linda's haughty tone, Liu Jiatong rose to her feet.

"What do you want with Su Rann?"

Linda scrutinized the woman before her with contempt. The company's previous whispers of Su Rann's stunning beauty now seemed grossly exaggerated.

Merely above average in looks, how could she possibly be considered enchanting?

"You're Su Rann, come with me!" Linda said, after a brief pause, before turning on her heel and striding away.

Liu Jiatong remained rooted to the spot.

Hearing the office erupt with laughter, Linda spun around, only to find Su Rann hadn't followed. Her fury flared instantly.

"Su Rann, you really don't know what's good for you!" No one in the company had ever dared to show her such disrespect, especially knowing she was Lin Manyin's assistant.

Linda, it seemed, had finally met someone in the company who wouldn't jump at her command.

The rumor was that Linda, as Manager Lin's special assistant, was highly efficient. It was quite the surprise that she couldn't even summon our group's members. Haha...

The office was abuzz with people fanning the flames, and Linda's temper was on the brink of exploding.

The members of Group D were considered the lowest on the totem pole. If she didn't make an example of Su Rann today, she herself would become the company's laughingstock.

Fuming, Linda stormed over to Liu Jiatong.

"Who gave you the nerve? Are you deaf? Don't you understand what I'm saying?" Linda demanded, her arms folded across her chest and her expression icy.

Silence hung in the air.

Once again, laughter echoed through the office.

Linda's fists were clenched tight; she was at her breaking point. In her eyes, Su Rann was no better than garbage on the street, and this provocation was more than she could stomach.

As Linda's hand shot up, poised to strike Liu Jiatong's face, Su Rann swiftly intercepted it.

With a firm grip, Linda was sent tumbling to the ground.

The laughter in the office grew even louder.

"You wretch, what do you think you are?" Linda scrambled to her feet and glared at Su Rann.

She was accustomed to being treated with respect and adoration, never imagining she'd be subjected to such treatment.

"Don't you want your job anymore? Believe me, you'll be getting your termination notice soon enough!" Linda jabbed a finger in Su Rann's direction.

As she flipped her off, Su Rann's eyes, devoid of any warmth, cut through her.

Like a Rakshasa pausing in hell, like a frozen pond hesitating under ice.

Somehow, Linda felt an inexplicable fear upon locking eyes with her.

"I am Su Rann!" Her eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flashing within, as she let out a chilly laugh.

Linda's palms clenched involuntarily.

This woman had an air of defiance about her!

Linda's earlier assertiveness had vanished in the face of Su Rann's commanding presence and tone.

"Come with me!" She turned on her heel, intent on leaving.

Su Rann settled back into her seat with a relaxed air, as if the confrontation had never occurred.

Linda turned back to see Su Rann casually browsing through "One Hundred Years of Solitude."

"Su Rann, aren't you worried about getting fired?" Linda had never encountered someone so impervious.

"Whatever!" Su Rann replied, her gaze icy and detached as she turned the pages of the book with deliberate, gentle motions.

Linda shot her a venomous look before storming off, deflated.

Lin Manyin had been calmly awaiting Su Rann's arrival. Seeing Linda approach alone, she bristled with irritation.

"Where is Su Rann?" she asked coolly.

"Manager, Su Rann, she... she's not coming!" Linda hung her head.

Lin Manyin slammed her water cup to the floor in frustration. "Useless!" she spat, and with a click of her high heels, she stormed out.

She refused to believe that someone from Group D could defy her in her own company.

It was just as well that Su Rann hadn't come; she would demonstrate to the entire office that Su Rann was nothing more than an ant before her.

Lin Manyin marched up to Su Rann, slamming a stack of documents down in front of her.

"Su Rann, you've been here so long with nothing to show for it. If you don't start producing results, you can pack up and leave!" Lin Manyin declared, channeling her managerial authority with a fierce edge.

Su Rann was still engrossed in her book, paying no mind to the commotion around her.

Lin Manyin's outburst was like punching a pillow – it made no impact whatsoever.

"Su Rann, are you even listening?" she fumed, incredulous that this woman had the audacity to show her up at the company.

The rest of the office couldn't fathom why Su Rann, a mere employee, had managed to infuriate Manager Lin.

And if Su Rann had indeed erred, shouldn't it be Hee Chen, the team leader, reprimanding her?

Why was Manager Lin so livid? Was there a personal vendetta between Su Rann and Lin Manyin?

But how could an employee of her standing have any connection with Manager Lin?

"You're beyond help, Su Rann. You really are something else!"

Lin Manyin was seething with rage, yet Su Rann never once glanced up at her, treating her as if she were invisible.

"What are you all staring at? If Group D remains in last place this quarter, then there's no reason for its existence!"

Lin Manyin redirected her fury onto everyone else in the office, who promptly fell silent.

Jiang Zhehan entered the room just in time to catch Lin Manyin's tirade.

He noticed Lin Manyin looming over Su Rann, bossing her around, and he swiftly approached them.

"Manager Lin, are you looking to fire us? Why not start with me?"

His lips curled into a sly grin, and his eyes sparkled with mischief.

"Ms. Rann, is she giving you a hard time?" Jiang Zhehan inquired warmly.

Lin Manyin was taken aback, not expecting the company's notorious troublemaker to take such an interest in Su Rann.

"Su Rann, take my words to heart. If you don't show any results soon, you can pack your bags and leave the company!"

Lin Manyin stormed out of Group D, her anger unabated.

Hee Chen, the group leader, arrived just in time to see Lin Manyin making her exit.

Concerned that Manager Lin might be targeting Su Rann, he hurried over.

Seeing Su Rann with her head buried in her book, Hee Chen initially thought she was upset.

"Su Rann, there's no need to rush. Sales isn't something that happens overnight. We'll get there gradually!" Hee Chen reassured her, his face beaming with encouragement.

Despite the general disdain for Group D, Hee Chen remained undeterred.

He maintained his belief that they simply hadn't discovered the correct approach to sales yet.

They were all like gold, merely obscured at the moment by a thick layer of mud.
