C38 Get out of the Medical World

Huang Jiamin watched her with disdain, stepping forward to block her path.

"Su Rann, hold it right there." Lately, this woman had become increasingly insolent, not even acknowledging her presence.

Xiaxuan saw in her the demeanor of a queen braving the storm.

Su Rann brushed the dust off her clothes without breaking stride.

"Stop Su Rann!" Huang Jiamin was visibly upset. This woman was showing her no respect, especially in front of others.

The security guards exchanged uncertain glances, intimidated by Su Rann's icy gaze. They hesitated to approach.

Xiaxuan quickly stepped forward. "Miss Su, I can't thank you enough. My brother's condition has been stabilizing, and I've come to escort you to his follow-up appointment."

She spoke with utmost respect.

"I'm not opposed to going, but in my current state, if I were to see Young Master Lo and prescribe the wrong medication, wouldn't that bring disaster upon the Lu family?" Su Rann's voice, cool and sharp, reverberated through the basement.

"Su Rann, what exactly do you want?" Huang Jiamin knew she resented being confined here.

Su Rann emerged from the basement nonchalantly. "I haven't had a decent meal in days. I'm quite hungry."

With that, she headed toward the room.

"What? You've not only detained our benefactor from the Lu family in the basement, but you've also denied her food? I truly misjudged the Lu family!"

Indeed, the Lu family was a prominent household in Lan City, and it was unexpected that they would treat Su Rann this way.

One could only speculate about Su Rann's standing within the Lu family.

Seeing Xiaxuan's concern for the woman, Huang Jiamin feared the Lu family might incur the wrath of the Lo family.

"Su Rann, what will it take for you to visit the Lo family and attend to Young Master Lo?" Her voice had lost its earlier haughtiness.

A glint of cunning shone in Su Rann's eyes.

"Simply put, whoever imprisoned me in that basement owes me an apology." Her tone was icy and aloof.

"You..." Huang Jiamin was seething with frustration.

She was the lady of the Lu family, yet the idea of apologizing to Su Rann seemed utterly preposterous.

If she apologized today, wouldn't that just encourage Su Rann to look down on her even more in the future?

Xiaxuan approached Huang Jiamin and said, "Mrs. Lu, since you were at fault in this matter, it's only right that you resolve it. Please don't delay my brother's treatment."

She leveraged Lo Boyuan's health as a pressure point.

The Lu family had erred in confining Su Rann to the basement. Xiaxuan was determined to get justice for her.

Huang Jiamin's hands clenched tighter. If it were only Su Rann, she wouldn't be concerned, but she dared not cross the Lo family.

Her fingertips were turning white. "Su Rann, go to the Lo family and conduct Young Master Lo's follow-up examination. I'll speak with you after you return," Huang Jiamin said, trying to put her off.

"Mrs. Lu, are you trying to avoid apologizing by waiting for me to leave?" Xiaxuan sensed her reluctance.

"Miss Lo, of course not," Huang Jiamin replied with a forced smile, though inwardly she cursed Xiaxuan repeatedly.

She was such a meddler!

"If you're going to apologize eventually, you might as well do it now!" Xiaxuan was not buying Huang Jiamin's deflections.

Su Rann stood with her arms crossed over her chest, her face devoid of emotion, yet there was an underlying firmness in her tranquility.

This version of Su Rann exuded a mysterious air that piqued Xiaxuan's curiosity.

What was her true connection to the Lu family? Despite her seemingly lowly appearance, her every action exuded the poise of a commanding officer.

Her deep, inscrutable eyes hinted at hidden depths.

It was as if she harbored many secrets.

Huang Jiamin, caught between not wanting to let Xiaxuan down and not wanting to offend the Lo family, bit her lip so hard that her nails dug into her palms.

"Su Rann, I was wrong to lock you up without understanding the situation. I am truly sorry!" Her voice was strained with reluctance.

Su Rann stretched leisurely, "I had a comfortable sleep last night. Miss Lo, shall we go?"

She had demanded Huang Jiamin's apology to make a statement: she was no longer the Su Rann they used to know, not someone they could bully at their whim.

Whenever they upset her, they were simply asking for trouble.

"Miss Su, would you like to freshen up?" Xiaxuan understood that every girl cherished her appearance.

Despite feeling somewhat anxious, she was willing to wait.

"No need, let's go!" Xiaxuan admired that Su Rann wasn't as affected as other girls; her straightforward and genuine nature was indeed rare.

Today marked the third day that Lo Boyuan had been taking his medicine, prompting the self-proclaimed learned doctors to flock to the scene.

At the entrance, the doctor who had wagered with Su Rann saw her disheveled appearance and couldn't hide his contempt.

"Miss Su, has the Lu family realized the consequences and already taken measures against you?" the portly man inquired.

"She's just a naive young girl. What can she really do? She's probably just seeking fame," another doctor scoffed.

"Exactly, the truly skilled doctors are the ones who keep a low profile. Have you ever heard of the godly doctor from the Imperial Capital? He's like an elusive dragon, hardly seen by anyone."

...

Disdainful looks surrounded her.

Su Rann's normally calm and gentle eyes suddenly became icy and sharp. Her laugh was radiant and defiant, truly a response to a bunch of presumptuous individuals.

The doctor was unnerved by her bold and brazen smile.

Xiaxuan was about to offer an explanation, but Su Rann took her hand and they proceeded inside.

Sometimes, engaging in arguments with these people was an utter waste of breath.

Upon entering the room, Su Rann noted the healthy flush on Lo Boyuan's cheeks.

"Miss Su," he greeted her, his voice polite despite his weakness.

"Young Master Lo, please stick out your tongue so I can have a look," Su Rann requested as she sat by his bedside.

At that moment, a group of doctors entered and were taken aback by the noticeable improvement in Lo Boyuan's complexion.

"Young Master Lo, why are you still allowing this woman to treat you?" the eyes of the man who had bet with Su Rann were filled with malice.

He had never expected that Young Master Lo would continue to seek treatment from this woman.

Before, he was a titan of the business world, an elite among his peers. It was unimaginable that he would be acting so irrationally now.

"Dr. Zhao, enough! My brother's temperature is back to normal. Have you and your colleagues been the ones harming him all along?!"

Xiaxuan accused, pointing directly at her.

"What?" He was in utter disbelief.

"Dr. Zhao, I expect you to honor your word and leave the medical profession for good!" Xiaxuan demanded, enunciating each word clearly.
