C4 Half a Carrot
Su Rann observed the distasteful expressions of those around her with a coldness in her eyes.
Despite the constant barrage of criticism, not a single person dared to meet her gaze for more than a second.
This woman was rather intimidating!
"Su Rann, you've really made a fool of me!"
Lin Manyin snatched the half-eaten carrot from Su Rann's hand and tossed it into the trash can as if Su Rann's actions had pinned the Lu family to a pillar of shame, leaving them open to ridicule.
She dreaded to think what the headlines might say the next day!
Had she known Su Rann would cause such a scene, she would have kept her confined to her room, out of sight.
Clearly, her poverty ran deep; she was unfit to be associated with the Lu family's public image.
Su Rann's lips twisted into a scornful smile, lounging in her chair, seemingly unaffected by the recent events.
Huang Jiamin, witnessing her nonchalant demeanor, felt her rage surge.
If this banquet was ruined because of Su Rann, she would personally make her pay.
"Boss Chen, welcome!"
Boss Chen was a prominent figure from Jingdu, and in Lan City, many were eager to ingratiate themselves with him.
The Lu family was no exception, hoping to secure a partnership with him at this very banquet.
He maintained a stern expression throughout; if not for a mutual acquaintance, he wouldn't have considered attending an event hosted by the Lu family.
"Boss Chen, right this way, please!"
Huang Jiamin approached with a sycophantic smile, hoping to impress.
Boss Chen, however, appeared unimpressed, viewing the Lu family as nothing more than a minor household.
"Boss Chen, please try our company's latest herbal tea," Huang Jiamin offered, her smile unwavering, thinking of the potential profits from a partnership with him.
Boss Chen took a perfunctory sip and set the cup down without further interest.
But when his gaze fell upon the half "carrot" in the trash can, a spark of recognition flashed in his eyes.
He swiftly rose and made his way to the bin.
Could it be the legendary millennium ginseng? The patriarch of the Liu family in Jingdu had been at death's door until that very ginseng, handed to a legendary healer and brewed, had miraculously brought him back from the brink.
He never expected to encounter such a treasure here today.
"What is this?" His eyes lit up with astonishment and delight.
"Boss Chen, isn't this just half a carrot?" Huang Jiamin sneered. If this half carrot prevented her from striking a deal with Boss Chen today, she wouldn't forgive Su Rann.
"A carrot?"
He was incredulous, yet he was certain he wasn't mistaken; this was indeed a millennium wild ginseng!
To the untrained eye, ginseng would not appear so robust!
He had come across this information quite by chance!
"Could you tell me who brought in this 'carrot'?"
"It was brought by my pitiful daughter-in-law!"
Huang Jiamin gestured dismissively toward Su Rann, who was idly standing to the side, her gaze laced with scorn.
Upon seeing Su Rann seated, a wave of reverence washed over Boss Chen.
He approached her swiftly, his tone brimming with respect.
"Miss, I would be honored if you would consider selling this radish to me. Name your price!"
Su Rann cast a cool, unfathomable glance at the man before her.
"Whatever you feel it's worth," she replied nonchalantly.
