C41 Su Rann Was Framed
"Mr. Han, who exactly is this woman?" Ann Hao inquired obsequiously.
"This woman's self-defense instincts are incredibly strong. That kick nearly ended my lineage!" he complained bitterly.
Lu Jinhan exhaled a slow stream of smoke, his gaze as profound as the vastness of the cosmos.
He found himself increasingly perplexed by Su Rann.
"By the way, Mr. Han, I've heard that someone from your Lu family managed to cure Lo Boyuan's illness. Who is this miracle worker? Can I meet them?"
Ann Hao had witnessed the severity of the young Lo family master's condition and doubted his own ability to cure it.
The news that the Lu family had healed Lo Boyuan was the talk of Lan City!
"You've already met him!" Lu Jinhan declared, flicking his cigarette butt to the ground before striding away.
After a night's rest, Su Rann felt significantly better.
She overslept that morning and skipped breakfast.
As she approached her bicycle, ready to head to the company, a Bentley pulled up in front of her.
"Get in!" The command was delivered with an authoritative tone that demanded attention.
Su Rann ignored him, pushing her bicycle to leave.
Seeing Su Rann about to depart, Lu Jinhan unfolded his long legs from the car and stepped in front of her.
"Get in!" he repeated, his voice even icier than before.
Su Rann cast a brief glance at Lu Jinhan, parked her bicycle, and decisively climbed into the vehicle.
Lu Jinhan, taken aback, followed her lead and got into the car.
Su Rann inserted her earphones and leaned against the car door, creating a barrier between herself and Lu Jinhan as if they were worlds apart.
The driver upfront shuddered as the atmosphere in the car turned frigid, with the two passengers behind him resembling icebergs, plummeting the cabin's temperature to an icy low.
The entire journey passed in silence.
The half-hour drive from the Lu family residence to the company felt like an eternity to the driver.
"Just drop me off at the corner," she said coolly, her voice devoid of any warmth.
The driver glanced at Lu Jinhan in the rearview mirror, who remained silent, implicitly consenting to her request.
"We've arrived, Young Master!" The driver mopped the sweat from his brow.
"Thank you!" Su Rann removed her earphones and stepped out of the car.
She was a crossroad away from the company and didn't want anyone to witness her association with Lu Jinhan. It would only complicate matters.
Watching her determined departure, Lu Jinhan felt a pang in his heart. Was she intent on maintaining this distance between them?
Meanwhile, Lin Manyin glared at Su Rann exiting Lu Jinhan's car with a malicious sneer. She whipped out her phone and snapped a close-up of Su Rann, capturing only the car and leaving no trace of Lu Jinhan.
A smirk played on her lips as an idea struck her. "Still playing the high and mighty, Su Rann? Just out to sell yourself, aren't you? I've finally got the evidence I need!" Chi Xin's face was alight with triumph.
She hadn't expected to stumble upon the incriminating photo online the moment she arrived at work.
"Su Rann, now I don't have to worry about you being let go by the company!" Liu Jiatong exclaimed with excitement as Su Rann entered the office.
"Su Rann, what exactly did you do? How did you earn such high praise from Director Lu himself, claiming you played a role in the Lo family's business dealings?" Her face was a picture of curiosity.
Everyone knew about the recovery of the Lo family's young master, but no one connected Su Rann to the event. After all, she was just a junior employee in the sales department.
"Do you realize, Su Rann? Director Lu isn't one to give out compliments lightly. What exactly did you do to receive such personal accolades?" Liu Jiatong's curiosity was barely contained.
"I really didn't do much, just lent a helping hand where I could," Su Rann replied nonchalantly, making her way to her desk.
Her delicate fingers danced across the keyboard, casting a fleeting, indifferent glance at Lu Jinhan's email.
Just then, as everyone marveled at Su Rann's commendation from Director Lu, a photo of her descending from a luxury car surfaced on every computer screen.
"What's all this about?"
"Is that Su Rann?"
"She was wearing that outfit today!"
...
All eyes turned toward Su Rann.
Chi Xin approached her.
"Su Rann, is the woman in this photo you?" Her smile hinted at ulterior motives.
"I'm curious about who's in this luxury car. Su Rann, what's your relationship with the person inside? You always act so aloof around us. Is it because you're involved with someone wealthy that you look down on us?"
A sneer played on Chi Xin's lips.
Su Rann pulled out her task for the day, paying no mind to Chi Xin.
She never let trivial matters bother her.
Chi Xin's efforts felt like punching cotton. Frustrated by Su Rann's nonchalance, she grabbed the documents from her hands.
"Su Rann, don't you think you owe us an explanation? What's really going on here?" Chi Xin demanded, feigning moral superiority.
"You want to know?" Her gaze was piercing, her voice icy.
"What gives you the right to know?!" Before Chi Xin could respond, Su Rann had already retrieved her documents.
"Su Rann, are you hiding because it's an old, ugly man? Are you feeling guilty?" Chi Xin wouldn't pass up the chance to mock her.
Seeing that Su Rann remained silent, Chi Xin reached out again to snatch the papers.
Su Rann stepped aside, and Chi Xin found herself kneeling before her.
"There's no need for such formalities; it's not the New Year!" Su Rann's face was impassive.
She held the documents, examining them intently.
"You, Su Rann!" Chi Xin spat out, her voice filled with indignation. She had never been so humiliated.
When Chi Xin saw Jiang Zhehan approaching, she scrambled to her feet, both upset and embarrassed.
"Young Master Jiang, Su Rann did it on purpose! She tripped me on purpose!" Chi Xin pointed an accusing finger at her.
Jiang Zhehan walked by without stopping. "Ms Rann, are you okay?" Concern flickered in his eyes.
"Young Master Jiang, it was Su Rann who tripped me, not the other way around!" Chi Xin's rage intensified.
"I'm not blind!" he said, fixing Chi Xin with a stare. "Are you stirring up trouble with Ms. Rann again?" A flicker of annoyance crossed his eyes.
Chi Xin's hands were balled into tight fists. "It wasn't me, Young Master Jiang. Didn't you see her step out of that luxury car? We just want to find out who the man behind her is."
Her voice carried a coquettish tone, tinged with a touch of grievance.
"Whoever is responsible had better hope I don't find out, because I, Jiang Zhehan, will be the first to deal with her!" Jiang Zhehan declared, rising to his feet and addressing everyone present.
A shiver of apprehension ran through Chi Xin as she absorbed his words.
