C42 Su Rann Was Targeted
"I never expected Chi Xin to be such a swift blade!" Lin Manyin watched the computer screen and smiled contentedly.
She had merely intended to gauge Chi Xin's animosity toward Su Rann. To her surprise, Chi Xin acted with such haste, spreading the photos she had taken across the company's website.
By now, Manyin had completely erased the incriminating photos from the web.
Upon seeing the photos, Jiang Zhehan felt a surge of anger.
He sensed that someone was targeting Su Rann and was determined not to let them get away with it this time.
"Ms. Rann, rest assured, I will find the person responsible for this!" He despised underhanded tactics the most.
Su Rann seemed unaffected by the ordeal. Unless someone crossed her red lines, she typically wouldn't retaliate.
Jiang Zhehan mistook Su Rann's silence for distress and thought she didn't wish to speak.
"Ms. Rann, I promise to get you the justice you deserve!" Resolute, Jiang Zhehan left the room.
Half an hour later, a furious Jiang Zhehan confronted Chi Xin. His expression was grim, his gaze piercing.
"Chi Xin, it was you?" His cold eyes fixed on her.
With a loud smack, he dropped a stack of documents before her.
"Why you?"
The sound of Jiang Zhehan's voice drew a crowd from the office, their looks filled with complexity.
"Young Master Jiang..." In that moment, Chi Xin realized her eagerness to see Su Rann embarrassed had exposed her.
"Come with me to the manager's office!" Jiang Zhehan would not tolerate any further attempts by Chi Xin to harm Ms. Rann.
"Young Master Jiang, please forgive me just this once. I won't repeat such actions. I admit my mistake!" Chi Xin knew she couldn't afford to cross Jiang Zhehan within the company.
She begrudged the fact that Young Master Jiang was so protective of Su Rann.
Jiang Zhehan was a man who stood by his principles, and no amount of Chi Xin's sly pleading would sway him.
Chi Xin's hands were clenched in frustration. It was all because of Su Rann. If it weren't for her, Chi Xin believed she would still have her place here.
She was determined not to leave the company!
Despite her deep-seated hatred for Su Rann, she approached her.
"Su Rann, I truly didn't mean to do it this time. I was momentarily blinded. I promise it won't happen again. Please, just let me off this once!" She pleaded with a look of utter distress.
Chi Xin was aware that if Su Rann forgave her, Jiang Zhehan would likely drop the matter.
So, she desperately clung to this lifeline.
Su Rann casually set aside the documents she was holding.
"Why should I forgive you?" Her voice was icy, cutting through the air like a cold snap in spring.
"Su Rann, you!" Chi Xin's nails bit into her palm.
She had assumed that in front of an audience, Su Rann would opt to show mercy.
"Some things I choose not to pursue doesn't mean I've forgiven you! Wrong is wrong!" Su Rann enunciated each word deliberately.
Having said her piece, she didn't spare Chi Xin another look.
"Su Rann, I never imagined you could be so cruel!" Chi Xin was frustrated. Why wasn't this woman playing by the usual rules?
Even a pretense of forgiveness, to maintain a good image with others, would have been something, right?
Whispers and murmurs filled the room. Chi Xin shot a contemptuous look at the onlookers.
"What's going on?" A crisp voice rang out in the office.
Lin Manyin observed Chi Xin's woeful expression with a slight smile playing on her lips.
This was precisely the outcome she had hoped for – to turn Chi Xin against Su Rann, making her a sharp weapon in her arsenal.
"Manager Lin!" Chi Xin exclaimed, as if she had found a savior.
She was acutely aware that if Jiang Zhehan escorted her to the executive office, her dismissal would be certain.
"Manager Lin, I truly realize my mistake. I shouldn't have uploaded Su Rann's photo online. I swear I won't do it again! I don't want to be fired."
Her eyes implored Lin Manyin with a pitiable gaze.
This was the reaction she had been aiming for.
"I'm in need of an assistant right now. Would you be interested?" As soon as Lin Manyin made the offer, Chi Xin nodded eagerly.
Unable to bear remaining in Group D, she was more than ready to accept a position by Manager Lin's side, viewing it as a step up.
"I'm willing, absolutely willing, Manager Lin!" Chi Xin exclaimed with servile enthusiasm.
"Since you're willing, then get ready and prepare to accompany me," Lin Manyin commanded, her high heels clicking as she walked away.
Chi Xin's stroke of luck was unexpected; becoming Manager Lin's assistant was a real windfall!
It was a job to be envied. Rumor had it that Manager Lin was easy to work for, and she might even become the future owner of Lu's Group!
It felt like a pie falling from the sky. I wish a pie would land on my head! Being close to Manager Lin was a step above being in our Group D Sales Department.
"Su Rann, I just can't stand it for you. Chi Xin is now with Manager Lin, and yet you seem so unfazed," Liu Jiatong said, her frustration evident.
A hint of dejection and cool detachment lingered in Su Rann's eyes.
"Hold on!" Jiang Zhehan interjected just as Lin Manyin and Chi Xin were about to depart.
"Manager Lin, if someone has erred, they must face the consequences. We can't let this slide without any repercussions," Jiang Zhehan declared, his presence imposing.
"Absolutely! Chi Xin will forfeit her bonus for this quarter, and she will transcribe the company's regulations five hundred times. Is this punishment satisfactory, Young Master Jiang?"
Despite being the manager, Lin Manyin held a measure of reverence for Jiang Zhehan.
Everyone was aware of Jiang Zhehan's significant influence.
Jiang Zhehan gave Su Rann a brief look. Seeing her silence, he nodded, allowing them to leave.
Truth be told, Jiang Zhehan didn't want Chi Xin around. He wouldn't allow anyone the opportunity to harm Ms Rann.
Chi Xin, seething with resentment at Jiang Zhehan's defense of Su Rann, shot her a furious glance as she left.
Su Rann, don't think you'll have it easy once I'm gone. I won't let you off the hook! I'll show you who the real winner is!
Chi Xin vowed silently. She was determined to drive Su Rann out of the company!
Lin Manyin watched Chi Xin's fuming expression with a slight smile on her lips. "Let's go."
After the commotion, the office buzzed with chatter.
Throughout the entire ordeal, Su Rann felt like an outsider. It seemed as though Chi Xin's actions weren't directed at her, making all the events appear unrelated to her.
