C6 Soul mates
DOMINIC'S POV
It's currently eleven pm . Instead of sleeping, I'm restless because my wolf keeps pacing in my mind.
"I am going to have to go for a run to calm him down," I say this to myself before going to my window and jumping out to the forest that surrounds it. Thankfully, I am a werewolf, not a human, considering I just jumped from the third floor of my parents’ house. I strip out of my clothes before shifting into my wolf. My wolf fur is considerably magnificent. White blonde fur, sharp claws, and extremely big, I fully represent the image of an alpha. I don't bother picking my clothes in my mouth since I have to come back here anyway. I take off into a run before letting my wolf take control. After a while, I got tired and went back to my room. I check the time only to see if it's already one pm.
I'm spent from the run, so I fall asleep easily this time around. The next morning, I get ready as I'm eating breakfast, I get summoned by my father, the Alpha of Haven, through a pack maid.
"Good morning, you are being summoned by the Alpha." She bows to me in submission while relaying orders.
"Alright, I'll be there," I respond and gesture at her to leave. I wipe my mouth before leaving the table and heading to his home office. I knock and only enter after hearing a soft "come in."
"Good morning, Dad." I greet him.
"Hi son, sit down. Let's discuss before you leave."
"Okay, Dad. Thanks." I sit down and get comfortable before letting him know I'm ready."
"Dominic, you're twenty years old already, and you are supposed to have found your fate-blessed mate by now. Yes, you are young, but you are also the alpha heir, and you can't take over without your mate. Seeing as I am a fantastic father, I reached out to a seer to check out who your mate is. Now-"
I interrupt him before he can finish. "Father, are you serious?" I ask as my heartbeat increases. The idea that I might get to meet my mate soon makes my palm sweaty and my wolf howls in my head.
"Are you going to Allow me to finish or not?" He questions
"I am sorry, Dad, please go on." It takes everything in me to stop myself from joining my wolf and howling.
"Now, according to the seer, you have already met your mate, but because she's human, the mate bond isn't clear. So just look out for someone you met recently and touch her, you'll find your mate.
I don't bother dwelling on the strangeness. Rather, I focus on finding my mate. "I love you, dad."
"Love you too, son. You can go now." I hurry out while searching my thoughts for someone I met recently. Who can she be? I don't remember meeting anyone recently.
The drive to school is a short and quiet one. My wolf and I have become restless due to thoughts of our meeting, our mate dominant in our minds. I am twenty years old, which is the starting age when werewolves can find their mates.
Mates are soul completers of a werewolf, a gift from the moon goddess Herself. A werewolf can never feel complete until they find their other half.
As the heir to my pack, Haven claw pack. I can not succeed in the leadership of the pack until I find my mate and claim her as dictating the laws of lycanthropy. I can't wait to meet the person who will finally make me whole.
I am walking to my first class when my wolf starts pacing in my head, and I smell an intoxicating smell. My wolf screams at me to find the source, and when I do after looking around, it’s the new human student from the diner.
“She smells different. She smells like mine,” I mutter to my wolf, and he agrees with me. At the diner, she smelt human, but now there’s another smell underneath that marks her as mine.
"Could this be our mate?" I ask my wolf.
"Mate! Mate! Mate!" He growls back at me. Butterflies envelop my belly. Finally, I have found my mate. I'm unable to take my eyes off of her, and when she starts moving, presumably to her next class, I follow her. It's only when I take a seat behind her that I realize that I'm not supposed to be here. I don't care, though. Only mate matters.
Throughout the day, my eyes follow her movement, I find ways to be in the same space as her, and when school is over, I silently follow her. She goes around town looking for a job. When she enters the diner, I follow her, thinking of a way to touch her so I can confirm she's my mate.
When I see her walking towards the counter, I manoeuvre my way to her front and bump into her on purpose.
Fortunately, I managed to get her number and have to force everything in me not to drag her to my house with me, having now confirmed that she truly is my mate. Instead, I settle for trailing her to ensure she gets home safely.
SERENA'S POV
The birds cooing keep me company on my walk to school. Mum was unable to take me to school today, which left me with no choice but to walk. The weather is a bit chilly, and I pull my arms around myself for warmth. I glance at the time and see I'll be late for my class if I don't quicken my pace. Hopefully, I will get a part-time job soon so I can start saving to buy a car.
With how fast I walk, I get to school and find a seat just as the professor comes in. I feel eyes on me, like someone is watching me, but when I turn, I don't find anyone, so I try to tune out the feeling and focus on what the professor is saying.
After my final class of the day, I decided to go job hunting. The only upside of not having a car is that walking makes job hunting easy as I spot the signs fast. All the other openings are for a full-time position, and I keep checking until I reach the diner. By this now, my legs are aching, and I decide to sit and rest before making enquiries in the opening. After a few minutes, I walk to the counter when I bump into a wall. It's a human being, but I call him a wall because of how firm his form is. He immediately rushes to apologize, but I'm in a bad mood from all my walking.
"I am so, so, so sorry." He apologizes.
"Keep your sorry ass excuse. Out of all the places to pass, it's where I'm also passing." I haven't seen the face of the "wall" as I'm trying to massage my once more aching feet. When I look up, I wish I could swallow my words back. It's one of the 'untouchables'. I quickly move back, as I'm still standing really close to him.
Instead of this guy going his merry way, he invades my space again and stretches his hand at me. I look down at his hand and look up to his face, baffled until he clears his throat and speaks.
"Hi, I'm Dominic. I'm so sorry for bumping into you." The deep baritone of his voice sends goosebumps down my skin, and it's like I'm under a spell, unable to shake his hand back or say anything. I just stare at him. He stretches his palm and grabs my hand, wrapping it in his before saying
"And you are?".
This finally snaps me out of the voice-given trance, "Serena, my name is Serena."
"You're beautiful, Serena. Can I have your phone?" I don't question him. Just reach into my pocket and hand it over to him. He taps on it for about a minute before handing it back to me.
"You now have my number, and I have yours." He turns and walks away, leaving me stunned and stuck in place. What on earth was that? Did Dominic Powers really give me his number? I unfortunately do not have time to check, considering it's almost closing time for the diner, and I haven't asked about the job opening. I shake off the confusing encounter and go to the counter.
"Good evening, I saw that there's an opening for a part-time cash registrar. Can I apply for it?"
"Of course, let me get the manager." The manager who is a pretty middle-aged lady leads me to her office where she interviews me. Thankfully, I get the job. On my way home, I feel someone following me, but I don't feel threatened, so I continue with my normal pace, hoping it doesn't backfire.
