C7 Mysterious Expert!!
"Yao," Yuxiao called as he approached, holding a small silver box.
"Hmm?" Luoyao waited for him to continue.
"This is for you," Yuxiao said, handing it over.
In his pale, slender hand was a faded little box, looking oddly out of place and simple. However, anything stored in the family shrine was rarely ordinary.
Luoyao took the box, casually weighing it in her hand. It was small and light, with intricate engravings forming an ancient pattern. Despite its simplicity, it had an air of mystery.
"What is it?" Luoyao asked, not wanting to open it without permission.
"You'll know once you open it," Yuxiao replied, either unaware or wanting her to discover it herself.
Without hesitation, Luoyao opened the box, revealing a ring. The silver band was smooth and simple, with no patterns, just a light layer of dust making it look a bit dirty.
Luoyao's lips twitched slightly. This was the item stored in the shrine, the thing Yuxiao had given her.
Yuxiao was just as surprised. He had never touched the box and hadn't expected it to contain a ring.
The family's treasures were better than nothing. Regardless of its purpose, Luoyao picked up the ring and slipped it onto the middle finger of her left hand.
Strangely, the ring seemed made for her, fitting perfectly. At that moment, Luoyao felt something rush through her body, causing her to shiver slightly.
"Is this for me? Thanks, man." Luoyao wiped the ring on her middle finger. Even after dusting it off, it still looked pretty decent.
Yuxiao listened, a mix of surprise and helplessness in his eyes. He stared at Luoyao for a while before speaking, "Yao, could you leave me alone for a bit? I need some time to myself."
Though puzzled, Luoyao nodded and walked away, leaving Yuxiao by himself.
It couldn't be! The shrine was always under his protection; no one would dare steal from here. Deep in thought, Yuxiao began searching around the altar.
Meanwhile, Luoyao left the shrine and headed toward her courtyard. Suddenly, an ethereal voice echoed around her.
"You're not Luoyao." The voice was elusive, seeming to come from everywhere, wrapping around her mind and making it impossible to pinpoint its source.
"Who’s there?" Luoyao halted, her eyes flashing sharply like an eagle in the night, scanning her surroundings with caution. Who could know she wasn’t Luoyao?
"And who are you?" The voice grew firmer, carrying a subtle authority that brooked no defiance.
Luoyao remained wary. The speaker had uttered just two sentences, yet she couldn't locate them. Was the person too powerful, or had she lost her edge since inhabiting this new body?
"I am Luoyao!" she retorted with a cold laugh.
"No, you're not!" the voice countered immediately. "Your soul is unstable, clearly an intruder in this body!" The voice held a hint of anger.
Luoyao was taken aback. Who could possibly see into her soul? This must be someone incredibly powerful.
"I am also called Luoyao. The original owner of this body died yesterday, and at the same time, so did I. When I inexplicably opened my eyes, my soul had entered this body." Luoyao paused, then finally revealed the truth.
A true strong person wouldn't get caught up in matters of the soul or harm someone weaker than them, would they? Of course not!
"Are you telling the truth?" the person asked after a moment of silence.
"Naturally." Qin Luoyao scanned her surroundings cautiously, silently cursing her lack of strength, which always left her vulnerable. This only strengthened her resolve to become more powerful as soon as possible.
"Forget it, you have the blood of the Qin family running through your veins, so you're considered one of us."
Now it was Qin Luoyao's turn to be surprised.
