C12 Female Cat Burglar

The virus outbreak had struck a supermarket chain before it had even opened for the day. Inside, employees were restocking and tidying up, so there likely weren't many zombies. However, the thousand-plus meter stretch of road outside was teeming with hundreds of the undead. Lee Yuanhong's brow furrowed as he contemplated the situation. Engaging them directly would be time-consuming and dangerous. He racked his brain for solutions from apocalyptic novels he had read, but none seemed viable.

Stepping out onto his balcony, Lee Yuanhong gazed into the distance out of habit and noticed the residential area's wall. Constructed of iron bars two meters high with gaps under ten centimeters, it was a formidable barrier the zombies couldn't breach, especially since they lacked the strength to bend the metal. Scaling the wall would cut the distance to the supermarket across the street by over 200 meters. The layout of the neighboring complex was similar to his own, offering a potential shortcut. Even if it proved impassable, the risk of a zombie ambush was minimal.

Without hesitation, Lee Yuanhong and five companions headed for the residential wall. Along the way, they dispatched several wandering zombies with ease—these low-level creatures were no match for their firearms. They quickly arrived at the wall.

Lee noticed people peering out from their windows, but no one intervened. Caution was the new norm.

At the wall, they employed the tried-and-true tactic of using noise to draw the zombies close, then picked them off from the safety of the barrier. Once the coast was clear, they vaulted over the wall and dashed toward the neighboring complex.

Lee had barely cleared the fence when a loud crash sounded from above. Glass rained down near him as he watched a window on the fifth floor of a nearby building shatter. A figure soared out of the broken window—Lee wasn't mistaken; someone had just been flung through the air.

As shock momentarily seized him, the airborne figure, reminiscent of Spider-Man, shot a line toward a balcony railing, which it wrapped around, slowing the descent to a safe landing. But then another figure emerged from the broken window, emitting a guttural roar—a clear sign it was a zombie.

If Lee Yuanhong hadn't found himself in the midst of the apocalypse, he would have sworn they were shooting a movie. But what kind of movie was this?

The sound of shattering glass drew a horde of zombies their way, forcing Lee Yuanhong to shift his focus to the encroaching undead.

With over ten zombies closing in, Lee Yuanhong knew they would be overwhelmed if they attacked all at once. It would be a tough fight, possibly even resulting in injuries. So, he made a strategic move against a group of six.

His five gunmen dispatched their targets with ease, while Lee Yuanhong resorted to a series of dodges and feints, tripping up the zombies to take them down, all the while breaking into a sweat. Glancing at his serious-faced subordinates, who offered no help, Lee Yuanhong felt a surge of frustration. But with five more zombies approaching, he ordered the idle gunmen to deal with the threat. After adjusting his makeshift paper armor, he struck what he thought was a dashing pose and approached the beauty.

This woman, who had just leapt down from a building, was a sight to behold. Clad in a form-fitting tracksuit that highlighted her stunning figure, she stood at about 1.65 meters with curves in all the right places—a sight that would send many a man's heart racing. Her long hair was pulled back into a thick ponytail, and her exquisite features were set off by her sparkling eyes. She would be an instant online sensation if her photo ever hit the web.

As she curiously eyed Lee Yuanhong and his gunmen, she was the first to speak as he neared. "Thank you for your help, Uncle. Do you have any food?"

The word 'uncle' hit Lee Yuanhong like a bombshell, instantly creating a chasm between him and the beauty. How could he possibly flirt now? But, true to his sales background, Lee Yuanhong quickly regained his composure. He mustered a friendly smile (though it came off more as a wolf in sheep's clothing) and replied, "I'm afraid I don't have any food on me. We're actually heading to the supermarket across the way. You're welcome to join us. And, I haven't caught your name yet? Oh, I've forgotten my manners—I'm Lee Yuanhong. Feel free to call me Mr. Lee, if you like."

The beauty seemed unfazed by Lee Yuanhong's overly familiar and sleazy demeanor. After a moment's thought, she spoke up, "My name is Lee Luoxia. I'll join Mr. Lee on a supermarket run for some food. But I should warn you, I'm not exactly armed to the teeth here, so I won't be much help against the zombies. That's not going to be a problem for you, is it, Mr. Lee?"

Lee Yuanhong, already enraptured by her melodious voice, couldn't have cared less about her combat skills—or lack thereof. And just like that, their party of six expanded to seven.
