C30 Who Is the Turtle in the Game?
When Lee Yuanhong and his group returned to their new base after a day's hard work, they were quite pleased with their haul. The best part was that Yuanhong's space was packed with supplies, enough to last them without a resupply for half a month. Plus, they had managed to take out their two biggest adversaries, which brought Yuanhong immense satisfaction.
Post-dinner, Lee Luoxia approached Yuanhong with a look of pure curiosity. Overwhelmed by her intense gaze, Yuanhong set aside his machete and inquired, "What's on your mind?"
"How did you figure out those villains would head to the police station? And how on earth did you get the zombies to besiege the city?" Luoxia asked, her eyes wide with wonder.
"The answer's quite straightforward. Sunn Shuhai, the one we apprehended, was actually a spy I had planted," Yuanhong explained with a smile.
"Oh no, that's terrible! Sunn Shuhai was left behind in the police station when we evacuated today. What are we going to do?" Luoxia fretted.
Yuanhong laughed heartily. "That spy wasn't exactly willing. You see, I have a bone to pick with him. I had reclaimed our neighborhood supermarket from the zombies, but he seized it when I was busy transporting goods."
"That's awful! If he's your enemy, why would he agree to spy for you?"
"He didn't agree. At first, I didn't even realize he was the one who had taken over the supermarket. His voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it. Remember when I asked him about a security guard in the neighborhood?"
Luoxia nodded, "Yes, but unfortunately, your friend never got the message."
"That's because the security guard doesn't exist. The neighborhood Sunn Shuhai mentioned was right next to ours. Since it wasn't our neighborhood, it was unlikely I'd know him. So, I invented a person—a person he had to know. If he truly lived in that neighborhood, he would have denied knowing him. If he didn't, he would claim to know him."
"It's so complex!" Lee Luoxia said, her face a whirlwind of confusion.
"Hehe, basically, I'm convinced Sunn Shuhai is lying. His lie must be to hide his real address, which means he could be living in our complex. I recognize voices here, and although I've never seen him, he knows me. That led me to think of the guy who took over the supermarket. I figured he's greedy, so by setting a trap enticing enough, he might just fall for it. And that's what I did—I set a trap."
"The police station? What's there to lure him in?"
"The station itself isn't the draw—it's the guns inside. They want weapons just as much as we do. So, I made sure he knew there were plenty of guns there, and that I intended to collect them. This created a sense of urgency, yet a veneer of safety."
"I'm lost!" Lee Luoxia admitted, still puzzled.
"They need guns, but since the tip-off came from us, they'll suspect a trap. I needed to eliminate that doubt. So, we went into the station ourselves, making a show of searching for guns. The noise would stir up the zombies in the market. Plus, I grabbed some blood bags from the hospital last time. Once gunfire erupts upstairs, those blood bags will burst in the station, releasing the scent of blood and sending the zombies into a frenzy."
"How did you come up with this? It's incredibly intricate!" Lee Luoxia looked at him with awe. Then, yawning, she said to Lee Yuanhong, "Okay, little Zhuge Liang, time to get some rest. Don't wear yourself out to a frazzle, or you'll be too old to find a girlfriend. Bye now. Ha..." With a big yawn, Lee Luoxia left the room.
Lee Yuanhong watched her leave, shaking his head helplessly, then refocused on the newly acquired machete:
Standard Issue Level One Machete
Attack: 3 Durability: 10
The machete's stats were unremarkable, but the term "Standard Issue" caught his attention. Yuanhong had asked Yiling about it, learning that it indicated mass production. In a place like the Hua Continent, where blade control was strict, someone was secretly manufacturing these in bulk, and close to Yanjing, no less. This revelation shocked Yuanhong. The key he'd found on Boss Woo might just be connected to this factory. It looked like it was time to hunt down Boss Woo's lair.
