C15 Long Time No See

Lu Yao was stunned.

Earlier, Xiang Dongnan had told Lu Yao that when he went on business trips, Tian Tian saw her mother bring other men into the house. The child was obviously disturbed to witness that and stopped speaking. This was also why Xiang Dongnan insisted that he get the child's custody.

Knowing all this, Lu Yao's heart ached even more for Tian Tian.

She had some free time so after bidding Xiang Dongnan goodbye, she took Tian Tian to her office. She planned to teach her how to read before Xiang Dongnan picked up Tian Tian late in the evening.

At first, Tian Tian seemed a little timid, but after some encouragement from Lu Yao, she became more confident. She started to smile and learned how to write the word 'dad'. Lu Yao thought about how touched Xiang Dongnan would be when he saw his daughter's writing.

Lu Yao heard a knock. Her assistant peeked into her office, reminding her that the company would be negotiating the contract with Long Teng at Jin City today.

Lu Yao's eyes widened as she remembered the negotiations which were to be held. Xiang Dongnan had himself left for a business meeting half an hour ago. Lu Yao did not know when he would return. She was reluctant to ask one of her colleagues to take care of Tian Tian, so she decided to take her along to Jin City.

The trip from Southern City to Jin City took them half an hour.

Long Teng had sent them a car for pick-up. The driver took them to Long Teng Corporation.

A man greeted Lu Yao at the front doors. "Ms. Lu, Mr. Shao's plane is a bit late. We are not sure when he will arrive. If he is not back in the afternoon, would it trouble you to stay at the hotel for the night?"

Lu Yao was caught off-guard when she heard that surname but did not think much of it. "I'll be fine." She smiled.

The company being an investment giant, their office building was located in the heart of the city. The land must have cost a fortune. The surrounding buildings seemed to be living in the shadows of Long Teng Corporation, looking gloomy and dull.

The man accompanying Lu Yao had to answer an urgent call, so he entrusted her to the front desk and left in a hurry.

Lu Yao followed the front desk receptionist and led Tian Tian into the elevator.

As she turned to face the front inside the elevator, she saw that the lobby was crowded with busy people. Lu Yao's eyes wandered. Suddenly, she spotted a familiar figure. It was Shao Yunchen. He wore a black suit. He looked unapproachable and had an important air about him, but his face was relaxed.

Something seemed to shine on his hand. Lu Yao's eyes fell downward and she saw a platinum ring on his ring finger. The light from the windows reflected on its surface, making it dazzle. As the elevator doors closed, Lu Yao was still in a daze. All the blood in her body felt like it had frozen over.

When they got married, she had picked a ring for Shao Yunchen, but he did not want it. He said he did not care for such things. In the end, Lu Yao had asked him if she could get a diamond ring for herself, and he let her have it. Since then, she had been wearing it like a treasure.

But now for the first time Lu Yao felt the heavy weight of the ring on her fingers. It felt like it was burning hot, almost scalding her skin.

Lu Yao asked the receptionist softly, "I'm sorry, but is your CEO Shao Yunchen?"

"Didn't you know?" The receptionist was a little taken aback. "I thought you must have checked our company credentials before you arrived."

Lu Yao looked at herself through the elevator mirror and did not reply.

Her husband, Shao Yunchen, owned an investment company which was a giant in the industry. It would not be an exaggeration to say that he was a billionaire, but she did not even know that before. All she knew was his name and where he lived.

The receptionist led Lu Yao to the CEO's office, saying, "Mr. Shao isn't back yet, but Ms. Fu would help you out."

When they reached the CEO's office, the receptionist knocked on the door and opened it.

Lu Yao walked in, her high heels clicking against the tiled floor. She saw a slender figure leaning against the desk. The woman wore a platinum ring on her finger and sported a bright smile on her face.

The ring looked similar to the one Shao Yunchen wore.

The receptionist did not expect Fu Xuezi to already be in the CEO's office. She nodded at her in greeting and said, "Ms. Fu, I was just going to look for you. This is Ms. Lu from Ying Xin Corporation."

"I know." Fu Xuezi did not seem surprised at all to see Lu Yao. She stood up and walked over to her. "Ms. Lu, long time no see."

Lu Yao appeared calm as she reached out to shake Fu Xuezi's hand. "Did Shao Yunchen give that to you? It's very pretty, and fits your finger well."
