Karen's eyes narrowed as she stared intently at Layla. “Why are you asking suddenly?”

“Oh, it's nothing serious,” Layla dismissed nervously. “I saw something that reminded me of her today; that's why I decided to ask.”

She would tell Karen more if she discovered anything fishy about Val
