They were already divorced; she had no ties to Ye Qingchuan anymore. There was no need for her to explain herself to him.

As Soong Qingyue staggered away, Ye Qingchuan felt a surge of anger. He quickly stepped in front of her and demanded, "Soong Qingyue, are you that desperate to find a man?"

"Director Ye, it's not your concern what Qingyue decides to do."

Suddenly, Soong Qingyue felt a strong hand encircle her waist. She looked up into an exceptionally handsome face.

She whispered, "Jinyu..."

Ye Qingchuan's gaze turned icy as he watched Si Jinyu, his eyes darkening further when they landed on the hand resting on Soong Qingyue's waist.

A chilling smile crept across his lips, "Director Si, it's been a while."

Si Jinyu's smile remained, "If I had my way, I'd prefer not to encounter Director Ye at all."

His words were a direct blow to Ye Qingchuan's pride.

Ye Qingchuan's demeanor grew even colder, "Director Si, after being away for three years, why bother returning?"

Si Jinyu looked at Soong Qingyue, who seemed slightly disoriented, his expression steely, "If I hadn't returned, how would I have known that Qingyue has been so mistreated by Director Ye?"

"She brought it upon herself," retorted Ye Qingchuan.

Si Jinyu let out a low laugh, "Director Ye, the one you fail to appreciate will naturally be cherished by someone else. Just make sure you don't live to regret it once you realize the truth."

What a farce.

He was implying he would pursue Soong Qingyue again?

The thought was laughable. Soong Qingyue would never catch Ye Qingchuan's eye again.

He despised her!

"You're overthinking it, Director Si," Ye Qingchuan stated resolutely.

Si Jinyu's eyes flickered, "I certainly hope so."

With that, he escorted Soong Qingyue out of Ye Qingchuan's view.

Si Jinyu helped Soong Qingyue into the car and buckled her seatbelt. As he gazed at her charming face, his expression softened considerably.

"Qingyue, I'm back."

I'm sorry you've had to endure so much.

Soong Qingyue's head felt as heavy as a lead ball as she groggily opened her eyes.

Did she just see Jinyu?

She immediately shook her head.

She must have been mistaken. Jinyu had been gone for so many years; how could he possibly appear at the Orchid Club?

As Soong Qingyue prepared to get out of bed, she paused, taken aback.

When Si Jinyu entered the room, he was greeted by Soong Qingyue's bewildered expression, which brought a smile to his face.

Upon seeing Si Jinyu, Soong Qingyue's eyes widened, "Jinyu, it's really you. You've come back."

Si Jinyu set a cup on the dresser and walked over to tousle her hair, "Yes, I've returned."

"Was it you who brought me back from the Orchid Club?" Soong Qingyue asked, confused.

Si Jinyu nodded.

Soong Qingyue lowered her eyes.

Her sudden disappearance from the Orchid Club would surely make it hard for Zhang Yunshan to explain things to Ann Yun. The partnership between Qiheng and Soong's was likely ruined.

The failed partnership was the least of her worries; Dabao and Erbao were still with Ann Yun.

What if, in a fit of rage, Ann Yun did something terrible to Dabao and Erbao?

No, she couldn't let that happen.

Soong Qingyue threw back the covers and stepped onto the floor with bare feet.

Si Jinyu caught her arm, "Qingyue, you need to rest right now."

Soong Qingyue looked at him with an apologetic gaze, "Jinyu, I'm sorry, but I must hurry back."

"Back where?" Si Jinyu inquired.

"To the Soong family," Soong Qingyue replied, not intending to keep secrets from him.

Si Jinyu was well aware of Soong Qingyue's status within the Soong family. "You know, my place here is just as good as the Soong family's."

"I know, but..."

Soong Qingyue hesitated.

"Jinyu, so much has happened while you were away. I'll fill you in when there's time. Right now, I must return. Dabao and Erbao are still with Ann Yun, and I'm worried she might harm them."

While speaking, Soong Qingyue slipped on her shoes and headed for the door.

Si Jinyu made no move to stop her. "Let me take you."

Soong Qingyue hesitated briefly. "Okay."
