C14 Did You Forget What Your Sister Had Done?
"Mr. Yu, have you truly forgotten her past actions?" Ye Sunuan gently prodded Murong Yu.
"Yes, it seems I had forgotten. She did commit such acts..." Murong Yu's eyes grew colder as he remembered the suffering he had endured.
"Thirteen years ago, she plotted against you, Mr. Yu. Three years ago, she cunningly snatched you from my side. And today, she dares to accuse me of all her misdeeds. Mr. Yu, even if you believe Nuan to be cold-hearted and disloyal, I must say, it's fortunate that the child was never born. Otherwise, she would have used the child as leverage, and you might never have been able to be with Nuan again."
As she spoke, Ye Sunuan showed a vulnerable side. The next moment, as if fearful of Murong Yu's scorn, she covered her face, her shoulders quivering slightly. She looked like a startled fawn, endearing and pitiable.
With Ye Sunuan's reminder, Murong Yu seemed to snap out of his trance, immediately shedding the odd feelings he had harbored for Ye Suhee.
Indeed, how could he have allowed a malicious woman like Ye Suhee to bear his child? Despite their agreement to divorce, she had repeatedly reneged on her word. Had she succeeded in having the child, it surely would have become a tool to manipulate him, a burden for his future.
In that moment, Murong Yu felt a sense of relief that Ye Suhee had miscarried.
Only Ye Sunuan was worthy of bearing his child.
Returning to the present, Murong Yu looked at the guilt-ridden Ye Sunuan and, without a moment's hesitation, wrapped his arms around her shoulders, whispering words of comfort: "Nuan, Mr. Yu doesn't think you're heartless at all."
"I've been too selfish, I'm sorry," Ye Sunuan confessed, lifting her face within Murong Yu's embrace, her eyes tinged with a hint of red, making her look both pitiful and adorable. She continued, "Please, don't be upset with Nuan, Mr. Yu."
"My dear, how could Mr. Yu ever be upset with you?" Murong Yu, filled with affection, gently kissed Ye Sunuan's forehead and reassured her, "Your thoughts aren't wrong; the fault lies with Ye Suhee!"
Murong Yu's voice was resolute, a clear departure from his previous uncertainty. Ye Sunuan's heart swelled with silent joy, the weight that had been pressing on her lifted at last. Her strategy had worked!
Thirteen years ago, what seemed like a calamity for Murong Yu turned out to be a stroke of luck for Ye Sunuan.
At the tender age of fourteen, Murong Yu had already faced the loss of both parents—his mother to illness and his father to a tragic accident. Alone and exceptionally gifted, he became the cherished ward of Murong Yang, the head of the Murong family.
Murong Yang bore the heart-wrenching sorrow of outliving his son and devoted himself to raising Murong Yu, ensuring that he lacked for nothing. He was always surrounded by bodyguards, but despite these precautions, at fourteen, a lapse in security allowed a villain to abduct Murong Yu on his way home from school.
When Murong Yu regained consciousness after being knocked out by the kidnappers, he found himself in a squalid storage room. Despite his precocious maturity and composure, he was understandably shaken. It was in this moment of utter distress that an angel appeared.
This angel silently rescued him from the grimy confines and set him free, even warning him about the identity of his assailants.
"Nuan, I'm so grateful you were there when I needed you," Murong Yu expressed with heartfelt gratitude.
Indeed, the angel who had saved him was none other than Ye Sunuan.
Following the ordeal, Murong Yu learned more about Ye Sunuan and became deeply enamored with her.
"I never imagined my sister would do such a thing," Ye Sunuan murmured as she nestled into Murong Yu's embrace, savoring the affection he showered upon her.
For her, Mr. Yu was, and always would be, the one.
