C16 Savoring Loneliness!

On the second day, the hospital ward was empty and chillingly silent. Ye Suhee was alone, as she had been for countless days and nights, tasting the bitterness of solitude. But today's loneliness was particularly harsh.

By the third day, with great difficulty, she lifted her hand to her belly. Ye Suhee's tears were unstoppable, streaming down like a curtain of pearls into her temples, soon soaking her dark hair.

On the fourth day, her child...

On the fifth day, you didn't even get a chance to see the world.

On the sixth day, her silent tears turned into soft sobs, and eventually, in the quiet, empty space, they became a hoarse cry.

On the seventh day, Ye Suhee was in deep anguish over the quiet passing of the little life.

On the eighth day, Murong Yu held Ye Sunuan in his arms, both sleeping peacefully on another floor.

On the ninth day, Murong Yu awoke to a cacophony of sounds. As he opened his eyes, he saw several doctors standing by. Ye Sunuan was already awake; it was time for the morning rounds.

"Miss Ye, you're all set to go. You can be discharged from the hospital today," the doctor informed Ye Sunuan after examining the wound on her hand.

"Doctor, is it really okay for Sunuan to be discharged so soon?" Murong Yu asked, his concern evident. She had only been admitted the day before; it seemed too quick for her to have recovered.

"The wound on Miss Ye's hand isn't deep, just a superficial cut. There's nothing to worry about," the doctor answered, his tone detached.

Murong Yu couldn't shake the feeling that the doctor was unfriendly toward him, but before he could inquire further, the doctor had already left.

Unbeknownst to Murong Yu, his actions had become the talk of the hospital. Though the medical staff didn't know the full story and weren't in a position to judge, they couldn't hide their disapproval upon seeing Murong Yu asleep beside Ye Sunuan while his wife was still in critical condition.

Ye Sunuan's suicide attempt had been a ruse. The day before, to compel Murong Yu to visit, she had made a superficial cut on her wrist with a sterilized knife under Luo Yu's supervision, barely drawing blood.

Worried that Murong Yu might delve deeper into the incident, she quickly diverted his attention, "Mr. Yu, I'm feeling hungry!"

Ye Sunuan had no reason to worry. Murong Yu harbored no suspicions about her, especially since her suicide attempt had no bearing on the matter. He was actually relieved that Ye Sunuan had only sustained minor cuts to her wrist.

"Alright, I'll go get you some breakfast. Have a seat for now," Murong Yu said, unwilling to let Ye Sunuan go hungry. He promptly rose to arrange breakfast for her.

At the hospital's breakfast kiosk, Murong Yu carefully chose several delicate porridge dishes. However, when it came time to pay, he hesitated. Should he get a portion for Ye Suhee as well? She had just had surgery, after all.

Realizing he was feeling sympathetic toward Ye Suhee, Murong Yu shook his head vigorously. He thought to himself, if he let his guard down, he'd be playing right into her hands. It was only a miscarriage surgery, and she had her phone—she could easily order delivery if she wanted to eat.

With that, Murong Yu carried breakfast for two back to Ye Sunuan's side.

Ye Sunuan had been anxious that Murong Yu might have gone to check on Ye Suhee, but seeing him return so promptly with breakfast put her at ease. She even playfully insisted that Murong Yu feed her, using her injury as an excuse. Of course, he couldn't refuse.

As they shared an intimate breakfast, Ye Shengcheng suddenly appeared. Upon entering and finding Murong Yu in Ye Sunuan's room, he wasn't surprised, but he did feel a twinge of disappointment.

"Murong, how is Hee doing?" he asked. Though he was concerned for Ye Sunuan, he was acutely aware of his daughter's condition and was more anxious about Ye Suhee, who had just been through a life-and-death ordeal.

"There's no update yet. I'll check on her later," Murong Yu replied. He actually knew that Ye Suhee must have awakened the previous night, as the head nurse had informed him.

Despite his momentary hesitation, Murong Yu reminded himself that any softness he felt toward Ye Suhee was absurd, considering her actions.
