C3 A Bigger Conspiracy!
Ye Suhee was merely a has-been heiress.
"No, no," the servant quickly corrected herself upon noticing the shift in Ye Suhee's expression. "It's just that the second young lady is busy with preparations for her birthday party tonight, so everyone is rather preoccupied. I'm afraid there might not be anyone available to attend to you, Eldest Miss."
The words were tactful, but the tone and demeanor told a different story.
Ye Suhee let out a wry smile. Indeed, today was Ye Sunuan's birthday. The whole Ye family was busy organizing a celebration for their treasured daughter. Who would spare a thought for her?
But it was of no consequence. Her ties to the Ye family had long been severed.
With fists clenched and spine erect, Ye Suhee stepped into her long-abandoned maternal home.
"Mom, it's my birthday. I want Mr. Yu to be with me," she heard before even entering.
Ye Suhee paused, curious about the conversation inside.
"There, there, Mr. Yu is quite busy. If he can't make it during the day, he'll surely come tonight. You're a young lady; what's the rush?" Luo Yu's voice was filled with the usual indulgence and pampering for her daughter, who stood tall and graceful, a sight that filled her heart with delight.
"Hmph, I don't care. Today, I'm the priority. I want Mr. Yu and Ye Suhee to divorce!"
The word 'divorce' reverberated in Ye Suhee's ears. She watched the two seated on the couch, her gaze icy, her body still.
She was curious to see how Luo Yu would respond to Ye Sunuan's demand.
"Hasn't A-Jue already agreed to divorce her as soon as he secures Ye Suhee's shares in the Murong family? Besides, the three-year deadline is nearly up. Ye Suhee won't be able to gloat for much longer."
"But I can't wait any longer. Ye Suhee has been with Mr. Yu for so long. Do you have any idea how that makes me feel? If it weren't for helping you, why would I have drugged Mr. Yu's tea three years ago?"
Ye Sunuan pouted and stamped her foot in frustration. Luo Yu was about to console her when the sound of high heels echoed, signaling an approach.
She lifted her head and was immediately struck dumb.
"Ye Suhee? What brings you here?" Ye Sunuan turned, her pretty face clouded with fear and vexation.
"So it was you who drugged him and then pinned it on me?"
A ghostly pallor washed over Ye Suhee's face, and she felt a throbbing pain in her chest. Her eyes widened as she stared at the two women before her, a laugh threatening to escape her lips.
"Yes, what if I did?" Ye Sunuan's sneer replaced her fear as she looked up triumphantly. "Ye Suhee, you ought to be grateful. Without me, how would you have ever ended up marrying Mr. Yu?"
"How can you say such things? Have you no shame?"
Ye Suhee's voice rose in anger, her whole body shaking. The realization that all of this was a plot made her heart ache unbearably.
"Shameless, am I?" Ye Sunuan's expression grew more contorted. "Listen, Ye Suhee, you'd better quietly divorce Mr. Yu. That way, I might not have to throw you out of the Ye family. If you refuse to divorce, your end will be truly tragic!"
"..."
Ye Suhee's fists were clenched tight as she fought to keep her composure. The more she dwelled on the situation, the more her heart quivered with intensity.
"Buzz, buzz..."
Her phone vibrated inside her bag. Ye Suhee released her fists and looked down to retrieve it.
Murong Yu's name flashed incessantly on the screen, and now, those three characters seemed to burn her eyes.
She suddenly felt incredibly foolish. Countless times, she had secretly changed his contact name to 'husband', only for him to insist she change it back to 'Murong Yu' time and time again.
