C5 She Was Pregnant!
"Don't you dare insult my mother. You're not worthy!" Ye Suhee burst out, her eyes blazing with fury as she glared at Ye Shengcheng with a terrifying intensity.
Luo Yu had never witnessed this side of Ye Suhee, but seeing her speak to Ye Shengcheng with such ferocity ignited her own anger.
"You little wretch, how dare you speak to your father in such a manner?"
"Shut up!" Ye Suhee snapped, her fists tightening, her knuckles turning white. "He's my father? When has he ever taken on a father's responsibilities? To him, you're his wife, Ye Sunuan is his daughter, and what am I? Isn't it laughable for you to call him my father now?"
Suppressing a bitter laugh, Ye Suhee fought back the tears welling up in her eyes.
"And you, don't think the things you did in the past are a secret. I will never forget how my mother died!"
With a hysterical scream, Ye Suhee paid no heed to anyone's reaction and dashed out of the Ye family mansion.
The daytime streets buzzed with activity, cars zipping by as people rushed about their business.
Standing in the heart of the city, Ye Suhee felt lost, unsure of where to turn.
A wave of nausea hit her, and she steadied herself against a nearby pole, a sense of foreboding washing over her.
"Congratulations, you're pregnant," the doctor in a white coat said, handing Ye Suhee the examination report with a smile that was both congratulatory and genuine.
Ye Suhee shook her head, her hand trembling as she reached for the report before her.
Pregnant? How could she be pregnant?
Her unique physiology made the likelihood of her pregnancy one in ten thousand. Hence, Murong Yu never insisted she take birth control after their encounters.
But how could she be pregnant?
"Doctor, is this for real? Am I truly pregnant?"
Torn between joy and sorrow, Ye Suhee covered her mouth as tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. There was a new life growing inside her, a child she shared with Murong Yu.
"Absolutely, it's true. However, you must be cautious. Your health is already fragile. To avoid any complications, you must be vigilant and take care of yourself in every way possible."
After finishing her sentence, the doctor glanced behind Ye Suhee, puzzled. "Where's your husband? At such a crucial time, why isn't he here with you?"
Husband? A bitter smile tugged at the corner of Ye Suhee's mouth as she rose to her feet. "He's tied up with work, so I came alone. Thank you for your concern, doctor."
Later that evening, Ye Suhee was still basking in her joy, unable to shake it off. She fantasized about various scenarios and Murong Yu's potential reactions to the news she had to share.
She consoled herself with the thought that even if Murong Yu didn't care for her, he would surely feel differently about the child she was carrying. There was a chance, then, for her and Murong Yu to make things work.
With high spirits, Ye Suhee prepared an array of dishes and sat on the couch, a bundle of nerves, waiting for Murong Yu to come home.
But as the hours ticked by, there was no sign of him. An unpleasant face invaded her thoughts. Ye Suhee's brow furrowed in concern. It was Ye Sunuan's birthday tonight; how could Murong Yu not be there?
Without a second thought, Ye Suhee dialed Murong Yu's number.
One call went unanswered, then two, three, and even the fourth.
Biting her lip in frustration, Ye Suhee sent him a text message.
"Call me back, or I can't promise I won't do something drastic."
The very next moment, her phone screen lit up. Ye Suhee collected herself, her voice soft and tender as she spoke.
"Murong Yu, can you please come home early tonight? There's something important I need to tell you."
