C6 Staying Here!
"Are you dreaming? It's Nuan's birthday tonight. Why on earth would I go back to be with you?"
His voice dripped with sarcasm, yet Ye Suhee maintained her smile. "Is that so? Perhaps I should come and escort you home? However, I can't promise I won't cause a scene once I arrive. If I let something slip and the media gets wind of it, what do you think Grandfather will do?"
"You're threatening me? Ye Suhee, when did you become so vile and low?"
Her smile remained undiminished, her tone as gentle as ever.
"I've always been this way. Haven't you realized? I'll wait for you for thirty minutes. If you're not back by then, I'm heading straight to the hotel. Grandfather values the Murong family's reputation highly. I trust you wouldn't want to disappoint him."
"Ye Suhee!"
Murong Yu was seething with anger yet powerless to act. It was the fear of scandal that had prompted Grandfather to insist he and Ye Suhee marry without delay.
If Grandfather discovered that the one he truly cared for was Ye Sunuan, his carefully laid plans would unravel.
With fists clenched and teeth gritted, Murong Yu spat out each word, "Ye Suhee, you're ruthless."
"Likewise."
The phone clicked as the call ended. Murong Yu's chiseled face was now a mask of icy composure. Hands in his pockets, he made to leave.
Suddenly, Ye Sunuan appeared before him, her smile radiant.
"Mr. Yu, were you waiting for me?"
She had overheard the exchange between Ye Suhee and Murong Yu and understood Ye Suhee's intentions all too well. Determined not to concede, she knew she had to fight for what she wanted.
Murong Yu's disdain for Ye Suhee was evident in his voice, and that was enough for Sunuan.
Upon seeing Sunuan, Murong Yu softened.
"Why have you come out here? Isn't it busy inside?"
"I missed you!" She reached for Murong Yu, nestling into his embrace with a demure charm. "Besides, I noticed you were all by yourself. I didn't want you to be lonely."
"Mmm," Murong Yu nodded, checking the time. It would take at least thirty minutes to return from here, and he couldn't afford any further delay.
Unwrapping the slender hand from around his waist, Murong Yu looked down into Ye Sunuan's eyes with deep affection. "Nuan, I need to handle something, so I'm afraid I can't stay with you right now."
Ye Sunuan's body tensed, a flash of malice in her eyes that vanished as quickly as it appeared. She looked up, her clear eyes seemingly capable of fooling anyone. "Okay, you go ahead. Nuan won't get in Mr. Yu's way."
Touched by her understanding nature, a pang of distress hit Murong Yu. He leaned down, leaving a gentle kiss on her lips before turning to leave.
Behind him, the woman clenched her teeth, murmuring darkly, "Ye Suhee, I will never let you go!"
Thirty minutes later, the door swung open. Murong Yu strode in, his face a mask of fury, toward the woman sitting on the sofa. "What are you trying to do?"
"You're back?" Ye Suhee rose, her smile hooking at the corners. She moved closer to Murong Yu, reaching to help him out of his coat.
Murong Yu caught her hand, his voice icy. "Ye Suhee, my patience with you has long since run out. If it weren't for Nuan, do you think I would be here?"
Despite the tremor in his heart, his expression remained stoic.
Ye Suhee held onto his hand, leading him toward the kitchen. "I've prepared a lot of dishes, just waiting for you to return. Murong Yu, could you please spend the evening with me?"
