Mr Ravenscroft was waiting with the horses when they got out. He conveyed it to them and walked away briskly with only a muttered greeting at Anns' face and a deep bow at Lady Arnold's direction.

They strolled along the lane making simple conversations about the weather and current happenings in London, they also talked about fashion and the important appearances at Daphne's ball
