C3 Three

It's six in the evening and I'm waiting for Vivian to be here in our apartment. I already cooked our dinner for Avery so I don't have anything to worry anymore if I leave. Avery is now watching TV with me sitting next to her. She is already in her pajamas so all that was left is her babysitter to feed her then put her to sleep.

After a few minutes, someone knocked on the front door. "That must be Vivian." I stood up from the couch and walk towards the door. I opened it and my mood quickly dropped seeing who it was.

He is the last person I want to see right now.

"Ivan?" I tried to make my voice normal despite that I really hate seeing his face.

He smiled and gave me the flowers he was holding. Actually it's a bouquet of roses. "Are you going out?" He asked, noticing my outfit. I was only wearing a blue sleeveless knee length dress and had a light makeup.

I still tried to smile "Yes. What are you doing here?" He seems like he just got from the restaurant since he is still wearing those button up shirt and black pants.

"Just passing by to give you that " he told me referring the flowers, as he looked behind me and noticed Avery on the couch. "Where are you going?"

None of your business, dickhead.

"It's my friend's birthday. So I'll be leaving tonight. Do you want something?" I offered, opening the door wider.

"No. I'm about to leave as well." He said, rubbing the back of his neck "Goodbye then." He awkwardly left and away from our door towards the elevator.

That man is really weird.

Weird and annoying. He gave me flowers and didn't even give anything to my daughter. Well, what do you expect from a man like him? Like I said, he wants only me not Avery.

I closed the door and quickly dumped the flowers in the trash bin. Who needs those flowers?

"Did Mr. Cole like you, Momma?" I heard Avery asked.

I went back to the couch and pulled her to me as she lay her body on my lap while her eyes were glued on the cartoons she was watching. "No. He just wants my attention, sweetheart."

"Does that mean he can be my daddy?" She raised her head to look at me. Damn, what should I answer to that question?

"Um... no, Avery. Ivan doesn't like me. He is just a friend." I lied. He is definitely not my friend.

"Oh..." she brought her attention back to the TV.

I made sure that Avery knows that she doesn't have a father. Sometimes she asked me for not having a dad because she sees the families at her school or when we are in Martha's house.

"Isn't Momma enough for you? It just happened that you don't have a Dad with you right now. But Momma will give you everything you want. Remember...it's Momma and Avery against the world. "

That was the only statement I can give to her. I will explain it to her when she gets a little older. Right now, I want her to enjoy how happy it is to be a child and experience no problem at all.

I actually have Avery's name tattooed on my forearm to keep me going. That I have a beautiful angel waiting for me when I got home. Hmp, men are so weak. Why won't they man up and accept that they are a father than just leave them.

Avery's Dad is my high school boyfriend, my first love. He was the only guy who helped me and protected me from the bullies. He defended me when those quarterbacks tried to rape me in the locker room, he saved me from those mean girls who thinks of me like worms! He was the only guy that treated me as a girl.

Actually, I grew up with a broken family. My Dad is horrible, he had tons of woman in his life and children to different woman as well. He is not responsible and had the guts to see all his children...including me. He doesn't even know my name.

Then I have Mom...who doesn't know what to do other than to smoke and drink every day. She hates mistakes. She doesn't want me doing any mistakes is cleaning the house, in the meals and house works. That's why I grew up being alone. I cook my own food, make my own money and live in my own. Neither of my parents helped me to taste love.

And Avery's dad was the first person who gave me attention. He was my first in everything. But before we graduate, I told him that I'm pregnant.

The look on his face was unreadable. He clearly shows that he doesn't want the child. He also told me to abort it because it will only get in the way of our dreams. But the heck! This is my own flesh and blood and I'm gonna kill it?!

And the pain continued. When we broke up because I chose the baby, that same time...my Mom died. I didn't even have the chance to tell her about her grandchild. God, I bet she is gonna kick me out if she knew.

I continued my studies and took care of Avery alone. She was my world since then. Its me and her always. We don't need a man in our life and we are never ever gonna be fooled.

Knock

Knock

Oh, I clearly forgot about my plans tonight. I stood up from the sofa and opened the door. Finally, it's Vivian. "Sorry, I'm late. My daughter is sick so I have to wait for my husband to get home." She said, chuckling then got inside the house.

"Its fine, Vivian." I told her and going back to the living room where Avery is. "Baby, I'll be going to work now. Be a good girl, okay? Don't sleep late." I kissed her for forehead.

"Okay, Momma. Take care. I love you!" She stood up from the couch and gave me a bear hug while giggling.

I hugged her back. Now, I'm all energized. I kisses my daughter's face over and over before giving her to Vivian. "Take good care of her. Ill be going now." I patted her back then grab my coat before I head out of the apartment.

I didn't bother taking a cab since it's just a few walks away.

The street is full of people that's why I feel safe at this area to walk plus, it's so cold tonight. Its very usual to have a temperature as cold as this so not a surprise anymore.

When I reached the club, I brought the card that the man gave me last night and I went to fall in line so I could talk to the bouncer. But once it's my turn, I just handed it to the muscled guy and he examined it. His eyebrows touched then looked at me, which is a little rube because it's almost like staring at me.

"Come in." He just said and let me pass him. "The boss is already waiting for you inside. Just head to the second floor and you will see the boss' office."

I just nod my head and walk inside the club. Its very loud inside and the lights are dim. I didn't expect what the club looks like right now. Its bigger than I thought...fuck, it's huge! I never ever been in a place as amazing as this. I can't believe how it looks like inside than what it really looks like before the outside. It has a huge difference to the other clubs though because only rich people can be in a place like this.

From ceiling to floor, even the tinniest detail of each corner of this club looks really expensive. Just look at the bar located in the center of the club! It looks like it was build from diamonds!

I hopped when I saw the stairs and head upstairs. The second floor was better because it is much quieter. It seems like all the customers who just like to hang out and have a drink, this is the better place.

I look around and noticed there was a door on the corner that has a sign saying "Zephyrus' Property"

"Could this be it?" I asked myself and was about to knock on the door when someone spoke behind me.

"Looking for the boss' office?"

I turn around and a man with short brown hair and striking brown eyes was standing behind me with a glass of wine in his hand.

"Y-yes, this is it, right?" I asked. " He actually gave me this last night." Showing him the green card that I had in my hand.

He raised an eyebrow as he stare at it then he wondered his eyes around. " Zephyr is not here at the moment. He went out with his new toy so maybe in an hour, he'll be here." He simply informed me then started walking away.

"So you want me to wait?" I asked.

"Its up to you, love. You're free to stay and wait for him." He answered.

Damn it. I thought he is already here so we could get it on! I want him to interview me already so I can start my job if he will give me the chance.

"Okay, I'll stay and wait." I answered. For my daughter.

"Good." The man smiled then suddenly took a glass of wine from the desk he must be occupying with three gorgeous women and handsome men surrounding it, then walk towards me then offered the glass to me. "Here, something that will give you some confidence while taking the interview with that grumpy man."

"Huh?" My eyebrows touched in confusion. "Grumpy man?"

"The owner of this club, Zephyrus Cloud." He replied, finishing his wine. "That man is the grumpiest of all the grumpiest men out there in this boring world." he said, sarcastically and really exaggerating it.

This man surely feels free and comfortable talking to some random stranger like me. Anyway, who is this man? Why does he talk so casual about the boss of this place?

He told me to take a seat so I occupied the vacant table on the corner and he accompanied me. "Oh by the way, the name's Rune Craword, my lady. And you are?" He brought out his hand for me to shake.

I took it and we shook hands "Eleina"

"Eleina...so, what are you? Single? Married? Widowed? A mistress or what?" He asked, burying his hands inside his pants.

I cleared my throat before answering his unique question. He really gave me an option though which I don't know if you should be offended.

"I'm single." I answered. A single mom.

"Good. You know, Zephyr doesn't take married people to work for him. He always hired those who we're single." Rune said, refilling his glass with another wine.

I looked at him, puzzled. The boss doesn't hire people who are already married? "Why?"

Rune shrugged his shoulders. "Beats me. That man had his own ways in handling some business."

But, that doesn't mean if your married already that you can't work anymore, right? So what is his business tricks?

" How about single moms?" I asked, playing with the glass of wine in my hand. I didn't drink the liquor yet so I quickly swallowed it down in one blow.

Rune chuckled "He hates them more..."

My eyes widen. Does that mean I will be in trouble? No! I will have this job no matte what! I want to work here for as long as I can because I know this will surrport me and Avery better if I keep this job.

"So the boss doesn't like people that has responsibility?" I asked, tilting my head to one side.

"You can say it like that." He answered. Grabbing the bottle wine and offered me but I shook my head already and don't want anymore wine in my body.

"Are you trying to get my new employee drunk, Rune?" A strong yet husky voice had spoken causing the both of us to look at the person.

It's the man last night who gave me this green card!

"Zephyr, hey man." Rune stood up and walked closer to the man and gave him a little guy greeting.

Don't tell me he is Zephyrus Cloud?! The man who rescued me last night is the owner of this club? Shit, he just saw me in my worst behavior! God, I was very embarrassing last night! I can't believe it. My mouth was just opened as I stare at the handsome man in front of me.

Zephyrus Cloud is really the best definition of a gorgeous man. He had this dirty brown hair, mesmerizing eyes and his lips holds the light red natural color. He is tall, taller than Rune but just inches apart, he is wearing a dark blue suit and black pants. And he looks really good in it.

"Done checking me out?" His voice broke my thoughts. "Are you here for the job?"

I stood up in a hurry and arranged my clothes. "Y- yes, Sir. You gave me this green card last night—"

"Yes, I know. That is why you're here, right? I never gave anyone a green card before so I know you're the one who received it." He arrogantly remarked. Okay, no need to be so haughty.

Rune smirked and patted his right shoulder "Go easy on her, man...oh by the way, have you finally heard anything about Stephan?"

"None." Zephyr simple replied, not even looking at his friend "That man is surely just wondering around because of his annoying parents. Just leave him be. He knows what he is doing." He added and then looked at me once again, and his stare is making me shiver.

"Let's start. Follow me to my office." Zephyr told me and started walking ahead and I just followed behind him silently.

Rune went back to his friends and just disappeared in a snap.

I watched Zephyr unlocks his black office door as he walks inside while I am still following behind. "Sit." He told me as he pointed to the chair in front of his expensive looking office desk.

His office is simpler than I imagine. Well, compare to the interior of the club, I didn't expect the main office of the boss will be this simple. But not boring though. Its actually a modern style office and it's really spaceful because there are only a few things in here. The windows are closed so I can't see the night like outside. He went behind his desk as I sit down in front of him now I felt nervous because of those stares he was giving.

" I thought you are gonna ditch me tonight." He broke the silence of the room.

"Um...why would I ditch this?" I questioned, letting out a weak chuckle.

"The man who pretended to be me really made you angry so I was thinking that you won't believe me as well." He stated, walking around his desk towards me and sat down just in front of me on the edge of the table.

I let out a laugh "Oh that..." what should be say now? You're too handsome and I can't think of you as a bad guy? I that what I should say? Fuck no.

"Well, it doesn't matter anymore." He cut my sentence. "Okay then, tell me your name and how old are you."

"M-my name is Eleina Valentin and I'm 23 years old." I answered, as I play with my fingers that was placed on my lap.

"23? You look older." He raised an eyebrow at me and crossing his arms.

"I get that a lot." I chuckled, and felt myself loosing the nervousness. "Do I need to bring some birth certificate of some any information for you to let me work here?"

He cocked his head and sigh "No need. I will give you job and you'll start tomorrow night."

Oh-kayyyy... a huge smile appeared on my face and I felt so happy to know that the have another job.. this is awesome.

"Do you have a child?" He suddenly asked.

"What?" I asked, thinking of what should I answer. Rune told me earlier that the boss hates it more if I have a child.

"I know you heard my question so answer me already." He irritably replied, crossing his arms again and looked at me seriously.

"N-no, sir. I'm single." I lied.

Somehow, it looks like the boss suddenly felt relieved. And I don't know why.

"Good." He stood up straight and went back behind the desk and took something out. He gave me another card and in this one is his.

It's a calling card.

"Get my number and save it in your phone." He told me. "I will give you the waitress job...or do you prefer another one?"

"What other jobs are available?" I asked, putting the card inside my pockets.

"I can give you the pole dancer's job where you will wear a piece of cloth only in your whole job hour. Do you want that?" He offered, raising an eyebrow as he waits for my answer.

I quickly shook my head " No need! I'm fine as a waitress."

The boss nod his head "Good. You can leave now. There is no use of you here anymore. Come back tomorrow night and look for Trisha Smith at the same time. She is the one in charge of the waitresses and other staffs" he said a little coldly but tones like that doesn't affect me anymore. I'm used of people being cold to me.

I stood up and smiled "Thank you so much, Sir. Cloud. I promise to do my job correctly tomorrow." Then with that, I turn my heels and left his office without looking back.

The smile on my face didn't disappear. I am too happy right now.

Even if I am just a waitress. That really means a lot.

God, I can't wait for tomorrow.

I look around the loungue area.

I didn't saw Rune anymore so I just leave straight out of the club and started walking home. I guess I'll be home early tonight. I bet Avery is already asleep..
