C13

Inside the main Ye Family room.

An old man with a head full of silver hair and a kind face was leaning on a rosewood chair. He was holding a fat and white boy in his arms. He looked silly and charming, which made people fall in love with him.

The old man teased his grandson with doting eyes as he chatted with his daughter-in-law who was sitting on the bench below.

All three of them spoke in a gentle voice, and from time to time, the little boy would say something childish, causing the women to laugh heartily and filling the room with warmth.

When Qimu and Yangyang walked in, what they saw was exactly this scene.

While Qimu was carefully sizing up the people and objects in the room without leaving a trace, Qiao had a serious expression on her face. She walked forward extremely obediently and knelt down before the old man as she respectfully said:

"Qiao'er greets grandma."

Qimu was flabbergasted by the loud and resounding knock, there was absolutely no trace of water. Her lips curved into a smile. How could there be such a rule in a small village? Why did he (the original owner) not have the slightest impression of it?

That old man, who was Qimu's cheap grandmother, Li Jasmine (for short, Mrs. Lee), saw how he had raised his granddaughter from a young age, and how he treated her respectfully and courteously.

"Qiao, get up. Come sit beside Grandma."

Mrs. Lee gestured for Qiao to come over to her side. Those who were able to sit beside Mrs. Lee were either of higher status, or wanted her to be happy. Qiao was obviously the latter.

Qimu sighed secretly in her heart. If even Qiao could not win Mrs. Lee's heart like this, then Mrs. Lee was truly a mean and merciless person.

However, Qiao's way of doing things was something she didn't like from the bottom of her heart. It was just a rural family for no reason. Why did she have to kneel?

Although Qimu thought this in her heart, she didn't show it on the surface. Seeing that Qiao had stood up, she pulled Yangyang and walked forward. Following Qiao's example, she knelt down and kowtowed in front of her, saying in a calm voice:

"Qimu and Yangyang, also give Grandma good morning. Has Grandma had a good breakfast?"

Mrs. Lee saw that Qimu followed suit, her attitude respectful, composed, and her head kowtowing. She was even concerned about her diet, but her eyebrows were raised and she was slightly suspicious. This girl was not usually like that.

Zhang Chuncao, who was sitting at the side, saw that Mrs. Lee did not say anything and thought that Mrs. Lee was just like before, someone who did not like Third Branch people. She merely snorted a few times and glanced at Qimu and her sister, filled with disdain and ridicule.

She clearly remembered what happened in the fields yesterday. Although she didn't lose anything, she was still unhappy!

The young woman sitting next to Zhang Chuncao had a oval face, fair skin, bright eyes and white teeth. Compared to Zhang Chuncao, she looked even more beautiful and slim. She was like a wild flower that had bloomed perfectly in the middle of a mountain.

The young woman smiled amiably at Qimu and her sister before turning her head to look at Mrs. Lee, ignoring Zhang Chuncao's actions.

She was Qimu's third aunt, Lee Zhiqing, the daughter of the Li family from a wealthy family in the Niu Village. Because she had married the youngest and most favored son of Ye Family, and her family was one of the largest families in the Niu Village, she had even given birth to a son. Her position in the Ye Family was extremely high.

She was the one who gave Qimu and her sister the clothes Qiao had brought with her.

Zhang Chuncao's soft snorts actually made Mrs. Lee come back to her senses. She smiled and said:

"Mu and Brother Yang are here too. Come, come and take a look at this grandma." It's been a long time since I've seen the two of you. "

Mrs. Lee's words were pleasant to hear, but the affection she had towards Qiao was gone.

Qimu didn't mind. She smiled gently to Yangyang, who was obviously a little uneasy. She comforted him, then held onto Yangyang's hand and walked to stand in front of Mrs. Lee.

Mrs. Lee saw that Qimu was very generous and doted on her little brother. Of course, the most important thing was that she was respectful and obedient, so Mrs. Lee started to like her a little.

She carefully sized up her granddaughter who she usually did not think highly of. Her granddaughter, Huang Hei, was a bit yellow and black, and her skinny body was a bit too thin.

His yellow and black skin really couldn't match the pink and tender colors, yet he had to wear it like this. Instead, it made him look even more yellow, darker, and uglier.

As expected, she had been taught badly by her shameless and corrupt mother!

He would put anything on his body! Not following the path of a woman!

Mrs. Lee thought of her second wife, whom she did not like, and the smile on her face gradually faded. The small bit of happiness she originally felt towards Qimu was obliterated by her uncomfortable clothes and her bad impression of her cheap mom.

Mrs. Lee only felt that her little grandson was too stiff, never saying anything coquettishly, and she didn't think anything of it. She did like this little grandson, but the son of the third wife, the one that her most beloved little son gave her, was acting like a spoiled child in her arms!

Compared to Yangyang's skinny body and his sallow face, he had been raised under her knee since childhood. Ye Dazong, who was also fair and tender, was even more pleasing to her.

"Mu, you've grown up. You should dress properly in the future. Don't wear anything you like. Although our family isn't that great at making new clothes every year, we can make new clothes every two to three years."

Her tone and expression were not too strict, but Qimu's heart sank.

Before coming, after some internal struggle, she finally chose to wear the clothes sent over by Third Aunt. With her modern aesthetic standards, she obviously knew that these two sets of clothes were the most inappropriate for her and Yangyang.

However, in order to avoid trouble as much as possible and not implicate her parents, she still wore it. She didn't expect that the trap was waiting for her here!

This cheap grandmother of hers had always paid attention to this aspect. Didn't she want the Second Branch to completely lose her favor with Mrs. Lee?

Seeing Qimu lower her head slightly as if she were deep in thought, unlike her dumb mother who did not put her in her eyes at all, Mrs. Lee's dissatisfaction lessened slightly as she slowed down her tone and said:

"If you don't know what to wear, then go to your grandma's room. Your grandma will pick one for you. Don't learn from your mother how to dress up. You're already married, yet you're still dressed in colorful clothes. I don't know who you're trying to seduce …"

As Mrs. Lee spoke, she suddenly realized that she had said too much, and the person in front of her was her unmarried granddaughter.

Within the room, a silent and awkward atmosphere descended.

Qimu lowered her head and pulled the corners of her mouth. After controlling the anger and discontent in her heart, she slowly raised her head and looked at Mrs. Lee. Tears actually welled up in her eyes.

With a "plop," she decisively knelt down and choked with sobs said:

"Grandmother, it's all Qimu's fault. Qimu shouldn't have worn these clothes, it makes Grandmother unhappy!" "Qimu, Yangyang, they really don't have any other clothes. Qimu thought, it's rare to see Grandma, so she wanted to make her happy, so she wore Third Aunt's clothes. It's all Qimu's fault. Grandmother, don't be angry, just be careful …"

Qimu's voice was filled with tears and sincere feelings, causing Mrs. Lee to be extremely moved. When she heard that the clothes that couldn't be displayed were given to her by her third wife, her gaze turned sharp as she glanced at Lee Zhiqing.

Sensing Mrs. Lee's gaze, Qimu's tears started to fall even harder. She held back her tears and looked even more pitiful, as if she had been wronged to the extreme.

Even Yangyang started to cry quietly.

The room was filled with the cries of grief for her two children, who were her grandchildren. The rage in Mrs. Lee's heart started to rise.
